That's a dangerous message to spread to people. Telling them that they're "enough just the way they are" can often lead to complacency and close-mindedness. "Oh well, Jarvis told me I'm fine just the way I am, so I'm going to keep making unhealthy life decisions such as shooting up heroin and oh, what's that? I look like skin and bones? Doesn't matter how I look. I'm beautiful." The fact of the matter is, none of us are okay just the way we are, we're all a mess and we all have our own problems. And we need to take responsibility for that. But that's a word that scares people. **Responsibility**. Gasp, so that mean I actually have to do something? Yep. As humans we're constantly improving to be a less shitty version of the person we were yesterday.

I have to lose weight again but the problem is I don't know what I did the first time I lost weight. I ate everything I wanted (pizza, sweets, pasta, soda, fast food, etc.). The only physical activity I had was walking. Only after I lost weight I started playing basketball every evening so yeah.. How do I do something again if I don't know what I was doing the first time?

Water has a variety of tastes. Growing up, I lived in a town with bad water. You wouldn't die or get sick if you drank it, but it tasted awful! Then I moved to another town where the water was dark brown temporarily. From what I've heard, it's still drinkable, but no one is going to drink that. My parents' financial status improved, and my mom started drinking Dasani, which I hate. So for most of my life, I thought all water tasted disgusting. Then I bought a Brita filter and pitcher, and it made water much better.

Knowing you got through some really hard times in uni AND GRADUATED gives me hope I can, too. PS: why haven't I subscribed earlier, omg.

Thank you for sharing Jarvis!! I tried counting calories in my early 20s and I ended up taking things a little too far (I was down to like 49kg which is about 108 pounds and was underweight for my height). We've talked about me being an overachiever, basically I was overachieving at calorie counting lol. Now I'm nearly 30, am the heaviest I've been in my life (thanks ageing for slowing down my metabolism) but am in general pretty happy and healthy because now I just try to eat well, taking the 'everything in moderation' approach. My problem with calorie counting is that i was seeing it as a diet, rather than as a change to my lifestyle like you did, which is a MUCH much better approach. I love how you framed it that way.

I usually walk home from school but it takes me an hour so I’ve wanted to start biking for awhile now. But it really scares me because you’re supposed to ride on the road unless it’s a shared path and I don’t think most of the paths are shared because there’s only one part that has a bike painted on it to show bikes can ride on it. I can’t ride on the road but I don’t want to get in trouble with the police for ridding on a pedestrian path. It’s also illegal to not wear a helmet here but I can’t wear hats. I have a fringe and whenever I wear a hat it messes up my fringe until I wash it again and I only wash my hair twice a week because I’m scared of the shower. When I eventually move to Japan I will start riding a bike because no one wears helmets there and everyone rides on the footpath even if you’re not supposed to.

I'm super skinny (in a healthy way)because i tend to eat my food slowly and chew a bit more before i swallow it, which causing me to get full faster. Its like a brain trick, it fools my brain into thinking i ate a lot when i really just ate slowly. This habit started when i was a kid, and it still works for me now. The only thing is, when I'm in a rush i dont eat much and end up hungry because i dont have time to eat enough. Other then that it works great. I just make a small/medium plate, eat slowly then if I'm still hungry then i get a little bit of seconds. So i can legitimately eat anything, just slowly.

I do something similar but with the opposite technique. I shovel food into my being like im starving for a few minutes and then im done. I feel full and if I eat more I feel like dying. I repeat every few hours.
@rachelcookie321
@rachelcookie321 2 жыл бұрын
@@earthtovesna it’s not tricking your Brian into thinking you ate more it’s just eating the appropriate amount. When you eat faster your brain does have time to register how much you’ve eaten so you end up eating more before you brain realises you’re full and you overeat. By eating so well your brain has time to register how much you’re eating and knows when you’re actually full and you feel full then.

I agree that counting calories is a good and effective way of loosing weight. Some people, unfortunately can't control it, once they get going. I've seen a couple of examples of people who started out overweight, and got so focused on counting calories and loosing weight, that they ended up hospitalized because of malnutrition. The essence, i guess, is to teach your body, how much food it really needs to function normally, and then try to maintain a somewhat healthy diet. Stay safe.

Moderation is awesome. Personally I don't like calorie counting - it's a slippery slope with me idealizing unhealthy not-eating-enough habits. It's time consuming and I like enjoying a Fiesta Lime chicken at Applebee's occasionally despite it being 1200 calories. I make goals of eating more healthy foods and eating smaller amounts of junk food and leave it at that. I also really enjoy cooking so I think that helps too. Oh, and I don't typically eat in front of the TV which leads to overeating.

Reduce the bad habits and impulse decisions I'd say, and you already increase control. A lot of these impulse decisions happened to me when I skipped a meal, was hungry, and had no ready-to-eat "healthy" food around. Getting this mostly fixed (by planning meals and having more healthy options at home) got me down to normal weight without ever counting calories or macros, at a steady pound per week. Man-boobs, good bye. Also, calories can be a useful tool, but are much simplified (counting macros is a bit better, and a bit more work) and don't work well for everyone (either because of the tracking overhead, obsession issues, picking a diet wrong for you but with seemingly correct calories/macros). As is body weight. I understand its limits (daily differences caused by hydration and food currently being processed can be in kg range), I don't fear obsession by weighing every morning (which gives a better *average*). Other people easily correlate each "weight change" with yesterday's food and go crazy, in one direction ("today I'll skip breakfast - and maybe lunch") or the other ("if it's that bad, now that 12-pack of doughnuts won't make any difference").

I only recently found this video after I started to watch this channel. You might never see this comment but I'll continue on anyway- I really needed to see this and I found this motivational and hopeful and achievable. I've always struggled with some self hatred of my body but I actually used to be pretty skinny in high school, I just couldn't see it past all the things I didnt like. I developed a seizure condition when I was sixteen and as we went through treatments- medication and more fuel needed for dizzy spells and energy zaps- I put on weight and found it hard to exercise for fear of having a random seizure and hitting my head. Now my body doesn't feel like my own and I'm trying to find a way back and take control and see what I can change and do to find a balance while still sick. But this was something I needed and I sincerely thank you for that. Please keep making amazing content ♡

Hey Jarvis. I would recommend checking out intermittent fasting (the body will burn fat in the morning instead of glucose, hence reducing your overall body fat), it's pretty straightforward with quick results. You can eat what you want, only while limiting the time frames in which you eat. The eating windows would be something like 1pm - 8pm, while also drinking plenty of water (I usually drink 4 cups) instead of eating breakfast. We aren't hungry most of the time, just dehydrated. Hope you, or anyone found this is insightful.

I counted calories to "lose weight" when I really didn't have much to lose. I was only eating 1200 a day and I was so hungry all the time and dropped down to a not-healthy weight. Then I discovered a whole foods plant based diet and now I eat probably 2400 calories a day and I feel great all the time. I know this sounds like an infomercial haha but it really worked for me and I would recommend this diet to everyone!

(Calorie In) - (Calories Out) = net calories. If your net calories is positive you will gain weight. If negative you will lose weight. Adjust accordingly.

Yes, but the goal is not always to just lose any weight. If you're "dropping to an unhealthy weight," then losing weight should ideally not be the goal (I know that's not always how minds work). Additionally, you also want to consider the nutrition you're getting from your food, and your body composition. A healthier diet can help with muscle gain or retention, if improved body image is your own goal. Elise's method has a lot of benefits, including sustainability, health (not everyone can get the necessary nutrients they need at 1200kcal/day, especially if they're not short), and fitness. Following a combination of the two, and exercising to keep/gain muscle to avoid fat gain, seems to be the best method.

Unfortunately my friend is a cyclist that eats less than 800 calories daily because his stomach has shrunken so much. But I believe its possible to increase your metabolism to a higher point if you're eating the right foods. It may be difficult but I was in the same position as you and I just started cooking my own food. We already had rice so I just made rice and vegetables with soy sauce some times. If you need tips or anything feel free to ask me. :)
