2 weeks before my wedding I gained 10 pounds. Seemingly in a blink of an eye, and I didn't understand what was happening. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's hypothyroidism and in total have gained over 70 pounds in a year. It has been the hardest thing I have ever been through and I have felt so alone and scared. Thank you for sharing your story and giving me hope that a natural way is possible and maybe one day soon I can also experience the healing you've talked about.

A tip, from my nutritionist, that is a good indication of a slow metabolism is whether or not you feel hungry within an hour of waking up. If you don’t feel hunger, that’s a sign of slow metabolism, which essentially means that your body has developed an unhealthy relationship with eating due to underrating or dieting. This was the issue for me and once I started eating more, I found that I was waking up hungry and I actually lost weight in the first two weeks or so! After my metabolism was better, then I would eat in a calorie deficit just like mentioned in the video! Every 3 weeks or so, I would go back to eating more at my maintenance level for about a week before going make to a deficit. This kept my metabolism happy.

What do I do if I eat more than what I usually eat for my deficit (abt 1000-1200 calories max) , I gain weight. Like if I eat 1500 I gain weight and don't los anything. Even now, I noticed I los barley anything, even though I exercise too 😔. Ik I have slow metabolism, but idk what to do. I tried everything online and research, but, nothing worked. Any suggestions?

I had a free session with a personal trainer after joining my gym, she had me do a circuit workout that was so fast paced and difficult for me, I couldn't breathe. I am only a little over weight and this was not a friendly workout for my cortisol levels. She scared me so bad by getting in my face about "I've gone through everything you are going through and worse". (essentially calling me lazy.) That's not a woman's woman in my mind. I have Hashimoto's, PCOS (thankfully no insulin resistance), ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, and other health issues. My body is at war with itself and while I am so sad that so many women are also struggling with this, I'm glad I'm not alone. Those who have made the lifestyle changes and are doing much better, you are the light at the end of the tunnel

Just FYI - All of our hormones are regulated by our circadian rhythm. Exercise and diet fall under the circadian rhythm umbrella. When the CR is broken then you are living in a constant state of jet lag and your stress hormones will be dysregulated. This is the true root cause of disease.

I mean that’s definitely part of it. I’d say it can be the cause of it, or it can make diseases you have anyway get worse. Hypothyroidism is sometimes caused by Hashimoto’s disease. A big part of that is genetics. Autoimmune diseases wreak havoc on you even if you have a good sleep schedule. Sometimes, it can make establishing a schedule harder. The disease can arise through other causes (much of which we don’t know - the medical community doesn’t understand WHY the immune system decides to turn on itself and when we figure it out, the answer will probably be a lot more nuanced than setting up a good circadian rhythm. We are still trying to figure it out).

I teared up watching this video. All my life I didn't know what was wrong w/ me and why couldn't I lose weight or exercise consistently or do "effective" and hard workouts like the others. I just got to know a few weeks back about my hypothyroidism and now, I'm taking Thyroxine every day. I feel much better and do not feel guilty anymore doing lighter workouts to lose weight and build muscle. Everything made sense when I understood the problem and it helped me not blame myself anymore. Do what your body likes-! (:

I went through a similar thing after moving to Germany. I've always had a smaller frame, so I did not feel like myself at all after gaining weight. Once I started de-stressing, the weight DROPPED off without any effort. I also went from an intense lifting schedule, to backpacking in europe, to school in Germany and didn't have a period for 6 months. My body was basically screaming for help. It's crazy how much the mental affects the physical. You are beautiful by the way!

Mila, I want to thank you so much for taking the time and effort to be on KZbin! I love your Instagram and TikTok content but it's SO nice to see even more of you here without the time constraints. You have inspired me tremendously over the past few months to restructure the way I eat, workout, and approach supplements. I am seeing a tremendous improvement in how I feel throughout the day and how my inflammation has reduced by being more mindful of how I move my body and what I consume. I am still hoping to lose some of the weight I have gained, but I used to think that my health actually depended on the number I saw on the scale and how my stomach looked, but thanks to you I now have more patience with myself and my body and have realized that health with PCOS is a journey not just a simple destination. Absolutely agree with the point about High intensity workouts. I used to workout for almost 1 hr every single day but saw little to no difference in my PCOD symptoms (even though I lost 12kg it didn't improve my prolonged periods). Only when I started low intensity workouts like walking 10km & yoga I saw difference in my energy levels & my PCOD. To my shock within 2mths of practicing yoga my prolonged periods became normal (like my period lasted like 7 days at max). But yes, I definetly think consistency & no matter what moving your body is extremely important to improve PCOD.

This has been the single most helpful thing I have come across on KZbin thus far that gave me profound insights about my body and what I may do to respect it. I took detailed notes and will be implementing these changes to my life, starting today. Please, please continue posting. Nobody talks about these symptoms and solutions, and I am tired of being called lazy/incapable simply for not having any strength left in my body to even try. OMG the struggle with the daily constant fatigue without having done anything is real...and then of course being called lazy and useless. Like people don't even use their common sense that how can an active person who's been a strong and excellent sportsperson throughout her life suddenly be this lifeless and drained without any valid reason. I related so hard with your comment. Wanting to become an independent working woman again, but not having the energy to stay long hours at the office or even having a sharp enough mind capable of concentrating on important things without zoning out soon enough. The struggle is real!

This is such an important video. I have been diagnosed with hypo at 12yr and I wish I could have heard to the advice in this video earlier on. Instead I had traditional medicine putting emphasis in only two things: "if you stay on your medication you can live normally, just make sure to watch your weight at all times". Needless to say, that led to feeling miserable for more than a decade, falling ill with eds, having to deal with the constant fatigue and chronic pain, while having no one to talk to. I genuinely hope people starting their journey find this video and are able to feel less alone.

I have quite the same story. I used to undereat and overtrain a lot to the point where I was severely underweight. Then my hormones and menstrual health were all messed up. The young ignorant me succumbed to the diet culture and now I have to endure all these consequences. 😢

Hyperthyroidism is where you lose weight.. if left untreated, you can actually develop hypothyroidism. My sister has this.. I was sub-clinically hypo after my child was born with normal t3 and high TSH.. 8. This girl did not have true hypothyroidism because with true hypothyroidism, you cannot always fix it naturally, sometimes you need hormones (cytomel or liothyronine). Also, she wasn’t overweight, she may not have been skinny, but she was not big. True hypothyroidism is really life changing, the only way out is often getting on the right hormones and eating well. Carnivore works for me, give it a try.

Mila you are a breath of fresh air. I'm so grateful for the algorithm today. You are beautifully in tune with the reality of hormonal well being. I spent 10 years on a medical roller coaster. Suffering from undiagnosed Hashimoto's, led to 30kg weight gain in 2 years, plus exhaustion, very sore joints & many other complications. I too tried to lose weight by increasing my exercise to high intensity levels, only succeeding in herniating both a cervical & lumbar disc plus triggering a sever Hashimoto's episode. I wrongly believed i wasn't exercising hard enough to burn fat, when in fact i was destroying my hormonal balance by not showing my body it is loved. Everything you say in this vlog correlates with my journey. The tortoise 🐢 is now my totem, slow & steady; life's no race. The pathway to health is much clearer being 18kg lighter in body & being. In stillness answers arrive. Congrats on your fabulous well being. Thanks for sharing your story, I look forward to following your journey ❤

Thank you for sharing! I have PCOS, Hypothyroidism, and am also Type 1 Diabetic. The struggle has been insane! When the Hypothyroidism hit, I gained 20 pounds in 1 month, and 30 more the 2nd month. I was told by my Endocrinologist that the weight would fall back off once I started on the Synthroid & my levels got back to normal. That never happened & now I feel no matter what I do, the weight won’t come off. It’s made me extremely depressed. I can’t remember the last time I felt normal or myself. This is definitely one area I feel the doctor’s don’t know a lot about. Even though my levels are in the “norm”, I still get VERY fatigued & often short of breath. I’ve also noticed difficulty in swallowing at times (even though the ultrasounds came back normal), and extreme joint pain & stiffness. I’ve recently started with a new PCP, so I’m hoping for better results from this doctor versus my last. Also, a note about Spironolactone - They may have had you on too high of a dosage. My doctor started me out with 3 per day, and I had the same reaction…a month long menstrual cycle. I dropped it to 2 pills per day, and no longer have that issue. It has helped tremendously with my hormonal acne. It also helped with hair and nail growth. However, that’s all that it’s helped with. If you don’t have any of those issues, it’s probably not needed.

I've had Hashimoto's hypothyroidism and hormone imbalances and been taking thyroxine daily since I was 12. Only recently have I discovered that this is all caused by gluten sensitivity (gluten and thyroid have a similar molecular structure, so your immune system gets overactivated and attacks your thyroid gland instead). For anyone with hypothyroidism, I highly recommend getting tested for gluten insensitivity.

this is basically my story, or at least my story until now. i had the same things and i did the same things as you did. i'm following a specialist and dieting with a special "diet" and doing low-medium impact training at gym and pilates at home. i reached 83 kg / 5'1'' in 4 months and i tryied lose them for about 5 years. now with all this, i lost 8 kg in 7 months! while going back on levotiroxine (I took 1,75mg and now i took only 0,25mg and plan on get rid of it) and all other kind of medicine! i'm picking up natural, more alkaline foods and supplements for tyroids like selenium and vit c. I'm REALLY thankful to my doctor for helping me overcome all that because i was constantly gaining weight even by exercising.. it was frustrating. keep up the good work, we got this!

I couldn’t agree more. I went through the same experience with my pcos. I hated the idea of the gym because the high intensity workouts were pushed on me by everyone and they didn’t even make me lose weight. I was left feeling worse than before, I had headaches, dizziness and put on more weight. The minute I started doing low impact strength training, I dropped 5kgs. Now I want to work out, eat better and be active. Everyone’s journey is different. Find out what works for you!❤❤

Hi! I was just diagnosed with PCOS and hypothyroidism. I give up on HIIT and start doing low intensity workouts. Can you please tell me how much it took you to drop those 5 kg?
@nikatrix
@nikatrix 11 ай бұрын
@@dimiriose5087 Hey! I don’t remember exactly but I think it was maybe around the 2 month mark. But don’t go by my timeline cos everyone’s different. I have a very low appetite in general and when I included workouts in my daily routine the drop in my weight was relatively quick. I also completely cut out junk food and beverages, alcohol, sugar, and haven’t gone back to any of those things since. I also recommend doing your own research and really finding the foods and exercises that work for you as you’ll have to stay consistent with it. I had a friend who was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and yoga helped her a lot so highly recommend looking into that too! And stay positive cos your mind and thoughts are very powerful in determining your outward experience🤍 xx

Before getting diagnosed with hashimatos I went to 4 doctors and told them my symptoms and even told them i probably have insulin resistance or some type of hormonal imbalance. None of them did tests for any of those things and concluded that i was lazy or depressed. I was so frustrated because i know my body and they are telling me there is nothing wrong. Lastly i went to endocrinolgy only then i was diagnosed. But i was miserable for over a year and the doctors just ignored my symptoms. I would have dealt with it sooner and not suffered if only they ordered some very simple blood tests. Also thank you so much for the video since i am struggling to lose weight also ❤

Thank you for this ❤ I just got my blood test results back and feel totally gaslit by my male doctor who says everything is "normal" aside from some low iron levels. I know it's not as I have all the symptoms of Hyperthyroidism and / or PCOS so I just feel so disheartened now 😔 like chronic bloating, weight gain, heavy frequent periods, mood swings, feeling extremely fatigued and having melasma appear on your face when you're not pregnant are not normal. Your video has made me realise I need to trust my body and go down the natural path to truly find out what's going on.

I took my IUD out, no period for 1 year… and the doctors diagnosed me with PCOS. They wanted to put me on Metformin, birth control, and should I want babies, it’s an easy med that will make me ovulate. I was so tired of all these doctors trying to solve an imbalance with more pills and chemicals. I started rigorous diet (v limited carbs, keto, organic, cooked all my foods, cut all sugar), started to move more, and kept my self on a strict 20 hr fast. In ONE MONTH, I got my period back, and when I did a metabolic testing at the gym, the trainer was so surprised of me burning fat at incredible levels. I lost 3% body fat, 5lbs with just the diet change. Why wouldn’t the doctors recommend this approach first? I just don’t get modern medicine. Somehow we over rotated to solving everything with drugs.

Reminds me of my experience seeing multiple female doctors, convinced that my hormones are the issue, and them rolling their eyes and basically sending me home saying there's no treatment. I still haven't found a doctor who will take me seriously. I know how I feel when my hormones are right, and I know when they are messed up. When you're doing everything "right" and nothing works, and the people who are PAID to help you, like it's their whole JOB, scoff and turn you away, it can be so heartbreaking. I left those appointments in tears, afraid to continue seeking help because it was so humiliating. I felt blamed, rejected, and like nothing I ever do will be good enough... Like I do not deserve to feel good.

I only have hypothyroidism and have been diagnosed since 2017 when I was 11 and now I’m 16 in the beginning it was very hard because I gained weight quickly and I got my period with imbalances in the beginning and then I got on birth control which my family looked at me a bit differently. This actually helped me changing my diet a with more protein and exercising because I really don’t because of how tired I am from levothyroxine, birth control, and stress❤️thank you for the message

I remember following a famous fitness influencer. Who's doing the 6 Week ab workout or any clickbaiting purposes title. I did HIIT alot thinking it would help me lose weight. But ended up up so stressed, can;t sleep due to high cortisol level. I have reset my sleep schedule and rely with Melatonin for months due to that. So it's important to build a mindful exercise routine to avoid hormonal disruption.

this is exactly what happened to me to the tea from the birth control pills to levothyroxine to losing my period and taking vit d yet still having extreme fatigue and sudden weight gain mind you i was a ballet dancer for almost a decade and my entire life was messed up physically, emotionally and academically and unfortunately lifting was not an option for me as I have hemorrhoids literally after every session i would bleed for days. simple exercises and soft life and no extreme dieting just enough healthy foods and lots of lean protein saved my life two years later i look and feel better. I hope everyone going through this sees the light at the end of the tunnel and go easy on their self. also, i recommend seeing an OB-GYN along with an endocrinologist because sometimes you might have ovarian cysts leading or as a result of such imbalances

I feel like 3 years of life have been wasted . I haven't accomplished anything due to constant fatigue. People would say it's intentional that I'm not doing anything. I was so productive before.. This is the best information I found on the medical issues I'm suffering from, I constantly gain weight unless I'm only eating 1200 calories a day. I don't know if I have hypothyroidism though I have the symptoms but I do have PCOS and inflammation and everything else you mentioned with clinical depression and a mild brain injury that gave me adhd like symptoms making it hard for me to actually do things. I have to break it down to smaller tasks but thanks so much for this information. God bless. xoxo
