Hello Caroline, I have been enjoying watching your channel this past month and appreciate you sharing your expertise with us. You mention in this video that you were able to create a series out of coloring books. I uploaded a new word search book to KDP last night on a specific topic and attempted to make it a part of a series; however, I awoke today to an email from KDP that low content books cannot be part of a series: "During our review, we found that the series was submitted for books(s) that lack significant content on the interior pages. This includes books intended to be filled by the user (e.g. lined journal, notebook, sketchbook, planner, calendar), “gag” books that intentionally have blank interiors, and books used for a professional purpose like staging a house. As a result, we won’t be making the series page available on Amazon because low-content books are not eligible to be added to a series." Perhaps they have recently changed the rules?

Great to see another Australian in this space. I found your advice very helpful, particularly the idea of outsourcing a Social Media Manager. If you can spare time for a question (understand if you don’t answer): I am looking for ways to make money as a bookseller on Amazon to fund advertising on Amazon for “high content books” in the future. I have my first non-fiction book “How Low Can You Go - nutritious meals from $30 per week”coming out soon. It is 297 pages of original, researched and tested content. I am tempted to do some Word Search puzzles because I have made them in the past for a friend - but would this look odd next to my high-content book? I think it would be a different audience - would it be counterproductive? Thanks again, Kimberley

Thanks, Caroline, nice video. I have a question for you: I have several books that I published in KDP 1 year ago but now it happens that a keyword in the title is trademarked for several months. What I should do? Amazon did not say anything and I do not know what to do. Do I have to ask Amazon or unpublish the books? Have you been in such a situation?

Trademarks are typically associated with specific brands, products, or services. You can search for registered trademarks on the official website of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or the relevant trademark office in your jurisdiction. Trademarked keywords often include distinctive brand names, slogans, and product names. Keep in mind that not all keywords are eligible for trademark protection; they need to meet certain legal criteria to be registered as trademarks.

You're always so helpful! QUESTION: How do you build an email list when KDP doesn't share info? Are we allowed to put a QR code IN the book with the mailing list link (and say it's a mailing list link)... do we offer something for free to get them to sign up?

▼@@IlanaRapp I never ask someone to join a mailing list :-) That's not very interesting, so I create a PDF or mini tutorial or something about that particular book which people might like as a freebie. ▼I add a QR Code and type something like, "Use a phone to scan the QR Code, to sign up to receive the "20 Tips About XYZ" PDF straight away."

@@IlanaRapp the QR code will redirect them to a sign up page where they enter their email address to get the PDF. The offer itself is called a Lead Magnet and the sign up page is referred to as an Opt-in Page. This is how you create a mailing list (briefly) and you can use any number of platforms to create your mailing list (MailChimp, etc.). Many offer a free level and you only pay once you surpass that level. "The money is in the list." Good luck!
