Notes for newer blender users/anyone wondering which commands he is using: - Pressing "J" with 2 verts selected will draw an edge on an existing face - Pressing "F" with 2 verts selected and hovering your mouse on the next one will auto fill faces like he does here 15:20 - Pressing "G" to move a vert then "G" again will move that vert along the axis of any adjacent edge of your choosing - Alt + V will "rip" an edge forming new geometry

Of course. Although some tutorials are well done, they aren’t really good to learn with imo. A lot of them teaches you how to make x, or y. But what I find alot more important to learn is not how to make x, but rather the thinking process behind everything. The stuff that makes your brain creak from thinking is the stuff that makes you learn properly. It’s why people who learn on the job, or language learners in a foreign country are so efficient at learning. They are forced to learn, and they make their brain work overtime with information that has to be processed. Following a step by step tutorial doesn’t hold a candle to it unfortunately.

@@shadowsketch926 To a certain extent, yes. Don't expect to learn from this video if you've never used blender before. Once you get the basic controls down, this video will be a lot more useful. I personally had no experience modeling characters in blender, and this video did teach me a lot and I've made something I'm actually proud of because of it. You say this isn't a guide and all that but I still find myself learning a lot more from a video like this than a tutorial XD It's just really nice to see you troubleshoot on the fly and the thought process behind everything like "The butt generally has to be lower than the crotch" ends up becoming a great tip for amateurs like me. And it bothers me to no end because concept art isn't what they actually want -- the type of artwork they're describing is called a model sheet or character turnaround. If Shonzo and Rainhet just replaced every instance of the phrase "concept art" with "model sheet" in their respective commission forms, it would probably cut down on the amount of unworkable commissions they each get considerably

@@DreamyAileen True but Shonzo also has plenty of videos where he explains what kind of art he wants and that, unless it is something that really peaks his interest, he will flat out reject it. Still, making it clear and maybe providing an example in the form wouldn't be a bad idea.

What makes this video helpful is that you discuss your theory and thought process openly. While a regular tutorial might include steps to how to make something specific, that isn't very helpful considering you'll only know how to do that one thing instead of having the ability to make it yourself. This is a common issue with tutorials, and one I've seen a lot in programming.

I really enjoyed watching your previous videos and that hooked me on making this as well but i have a question Did most of your model you have created is on low poly or high poly and why?does the poly differentiation affect the future adjustment like texturing or movement set? Because the model that i made is like low poly so i do want to know this beforehand
@leucome
@leucome 2 жыл бұрын
The goal is to make a proper quad topology that allow to use subdivision to get a wide range of poly count all from the same base model. So there is no actual high poly model used when working and animating. This way there is no need to wonder about poly count as the base model usually end up with relatively low poly anyway. If required then the higher poly model is subdivided from the lower poly one and the details sculpted on these surface. This way the high poly smooth curve and little details can be loaded only when rendering. Or they can be baked into normal mapping textures for real time render like game and Vtuber. By the way it is possible to convert MMD model to quad and un-subdivide them in edit mode with blender. This way we get a lower poly version that is easier to modify and animate. Then after use the subdivision modifier when rendering to make them smoother than they were before.

@Ran-John
@Ran-John Жыл бұрын
It's not a curve. He has a mirror and subdivision modifier on. He selected the vertex then hit e to extrude it. When he moved it to the middle of the mirror, (He has clipping and merge on) the subdivision modifier averaged it out and connected it with the mirrored vertex.
