​@@dinges8561no, it reduces power and increases CO2 emissions, but it's not bad for the engine if the manufacturer says it can fill it with both. The engine management has knock sensors that adjust the injection timing and the amount injected to avoid this. Manufacturers know what they are doing. It's good to say that in altered cars this doesn't work like that, but then it's the tuner's responsibility

It would definitely slightly improve, but you can't get much more than 3 sec 0-60 out of the Spyder anyway due to it being heavier and having less downforce (no spoiler). My coupe v10+ can do 0-60 of 2.6s all day.

Absolute beauty Mat! Love the color. Nice wheels as well. Wonder why its a bit on the "slow" side though, is it due to it being a Spyder (less downforce and a tad heavier)? My coupe V10 Plus does ~2.6-2.7 sec 0-60 and a 1/4 mile of 10.5-10.6 sec all day. EDIT: After looking it up - Spyder 0-60 is about 3s and quarter mile of about 10.9s. So exactly what you would expect. Enjoy the ride Mat!

Downforce creates more vertical force on the tires and therefore grip - therefore especially noticable when launching a car as one can apply more torque before the wheels start to slip. Also, it minimizes drag as it allows the car to reach higher speeds quicker. What else would you say contributes to a literal 0.5 sec difference in 0-60 times while the coupe and spyder? The 50-100 KG difference would not contribute to such a loss; I'd say its esp. the difference in downforce.

@@dontdoit114 you’re funny, I gave you a chance to stop your nonsense and then you dig a deeper hole 🤣. Downforce isn’t at play when you take off, the faster you get the more it makes a difference. More downforce equals more drag, slower speeds. More spoilers ok a car, slower it is in a straight line, but the faster it can go around corners. Case in point, the Porsche GT3 and RS are slower in a straight line than lesser models bric-à-brac the downforce slows them down, they are built for cornering around a track fast. Formula one should be your lesson, if they increase the downforce, they can’t go as fast on the circuits with long straights. You couldn’t be more wrong. A classic case of, all the gear, no idea I’m afraid.

@@dontdoit114 here’s a recent review on the performance from Evo. The difference is 0.1 seconds on the convertible, and downforce only comes into play with top speeds. Calculations are normally done to 62mph too (100kph). With sophisticated launch control and rapid-shifting gearboxes, all R8s can record rapid 0-62mph times - 3.7sec for the RWD, 3.4sec for the RWD GT and 3.1sec for the Quattro. Audi also quotes a top speed of 201mph for the RWD with the Quattro topping out at 205mph; the RWD GT falls just shy of 200mph due to its draggier high downforce aero setup. The Spyder versions of the RWD and Quattro reach 62mph just 0.1sec slower than their coupe counterparts, with 1mph slower top speeds. Although the Quattro offers higher performance than the rear-drive model on paper with a significant increase in power, the result isn’t that noticeable on the road. You’re never left wanting for more speed or quicker acceleration in the RWD, but if you do want the extra power of the Quattro, you can opt for one of the 15 RWD GTs coming to the UK fitted with the uprated 611bhp V10.

why fill 95, even with 98 you will get more range even if the cost is more. It is also much safer for the engine. I don't think mat owns the car but it is temporarily given to him by carwow otherwise he wouldn't run 95.

@@krasimirkostov20 Doesn't matter if he's a millionaire or not. So many people are millionaires but that doesn't take away the fact that you should look after your cars. This car deserves 98 or higher and nothing lower. He was flooring it on 95 fuel and going over 200kph when he said he was just going to cruise in it whilst on 95. 95 fuel has less knock resistant and is not good for the engine, yes the engine will probably detune itself when the sensor detects 95 but still 98 should always be used.

Ridden motorbikes for years and always favoured a hard run-in - there’s evidence that it seats the piston rings better, which means you use less oil and it makes for a more powerful engine overall. In terms of durability some of these bike engines have revved to 16,000 rpm and been totally reliable for the years I’ve owned them 👍🏻

Definitely lag/dead spot in the mid range, almost like first gear is too tall? Maybe Audi has some kind of clutch protection tuned into the launch control. It'd be interesting to try a manual start instead to see if you could work around that. Either way, its great so see such a mega car being enjoyed properly!

I've noticed this in MANY gen2 facelift videos too. And my '21 performance does that too, it sort of pulls after like 40km/h... Feels slow start compared to my old gen2 R8.
