As someone who doesn't agree with those complaints but was there when they happened; what people were actually complaining about with that Journey Across Japan was that it was probably the least 'about Japan' thing Chris had really done. They went on an expensive boat, stayed in an expensive hotel, but it was all very 'you could do this anywhere' and just felt a lot like Chris taking his friends on a very flashy holiday. I still found it fun to watch but I actually do appreciate why for some people it didn't really feel quite right for what the channel usually offers.
@jb0258

@@aduboo29exactly. Spending more money does not equal a better experience. There's tons to do around Japan, that's very "Japan like" that Chris can do that doesn't break the bank or have to be super flashy. As a quick example. When he went on a nature walk on a snow mountain (5 years ago or so) There was no talking allowed during the walk, but it was an amazing thing to see, and it felt like something only you'd see in japan.

For the new studio, I think it would be good to add more chairs/tables somewhere other than the ramen restaurant bar. The restaurant bar gets used so often because it's so easy to set up the cameras/microphone/computer there. Maybe in one of the alleyways have a table like they would have right outside of a small bar or restaurant on the streets of Japan. Also the train idea is really cool.

Chris ditch the projector. Get a very large 4K monitor and make a new window with a city street scene outside. Add a very low volume sound of city life and this set would become very realistic people wouldn't be able to tell if It was real or not. That would really bring the set to life

I love the idea of the train/subway set! But you could also make it interchangeable in a few ways. For instance if you're interviewing/talking with Connor, it could have posters (looking like subway ads) of Jojo. For Joey, anime, for Sharla neko, etc. You could also add in some figurines if more a train setting. Hmm, I wonder why there are no themed trains there (or are there)?

I'll never understand people who think that just because they want or have children, everyone else MUST want/have them as well. No, there are plenty of people who don't want kids. Or pets. Or anyone or anything else around them, whatever it is. And trying to impose a huge responsibility like children on someone who doesn't want them, is almost as irresponsible as someone like that choosing to have children, just because they were pressured into it. Mind your own damn business.

As an avid cyclist who bikes up to 7,500 km's on a mountain and fat tire bike here in Canada it's great to see you and Conner go on your cycling adventures for charity. The key to keeping in biking shape is consistency, i.e.. Get a stationary bike for training, biking as often as possible and avoid Family Mart, alcohol and eating out. There are so many hidden fats, sugars, and calories in fast food. Then you'll have the welcome problem of keeping on weight! Especially on a big fat tire bike, the 4x4 of bikes. 👍

It's honestly really sad how, wherever you go, the big cities are always where people have to go for university or job opportunities. I was thinking of doing my master's degree in Japan and I really like the Akita/Yamagata area. Unfortunately, the universities there aren't well known. In fact, I'd say Sendai's Tohoku University is probably the only reason Sendai is growing since the rest of Tohoku is shrinking. Most other big universities are in Tokyo or Osaka. If you want the best opportunities, moving to big cities is inevitable nowadays

Yeah, I'm one of those who has no desire to live in Tokyo, either. It's fun for visiting, but the idea of being surrounded by crowds a lot of the time, especially at times like Golden Week and summer festival season, just repels me. And even though it's relatively easy to get out into the countryside from Tokyo, it's not the same as being able to be immersed in it within minutes. And add to all that, it's just unreasonably expensive for housing for the size of the space you get (though probably affordable enough for a KZbin star). Also, that chatgpt proposal was super cringe. I hope you didn't use it LOL

Depending on the area, Tokyo can be a great place to live (or horrible). Taito, for example, is great to live. Granted, not pretty... actually pretty ugly, but the people are really nice, easy to talk to. You really feel at home, there. And walk 10 minutes in any direction, you 'll come across a station. On the other hand, suburban West-Tokyo, Shibuya, Adachi or Edogawa... meh... But that's just me.
@AliceinJapanaland
@AliceinJapanaland Жыл бұрын
@bikkiikun Taito ward? Isn't that where Ueno is? There is a really nice big park there but I've spent a lot of time in Ueno due to taking students to stay there during trips and I wouldn't want to live there either. It is quiet compared to much of Tokyo, but I'm just not a person who thrives in big cities. Give me views of the sea from cliffside roads, mountains, rivers, waterfalls!! Peaceful temples and shrines!! That's the Japan I love best. Everything else is good for a visit, but just not my cup of tea for the long term. I've visited even more densely populated cities like Hong Kong, too. And even though I enjoy visiting, I always feel most contented the closer I am to the countryside.
@V.U.4six
@V.U.4six Жыл бұрын
Same for me with cities in general No thanks, not my style On the other hand countryside is a bit too rural, stores would be too far away for shopping My ideal balance is suburban areas, not too much urbanization like cities, still has nice greenery and space to appreciate and stores aren’t too far away for convenient shopping trips I’d “visit cities” but I would not want to live in one
