I feel you strongly on that otr , I left nursing to team drive with my husband . My family all told me I was crazy , and that trucking is a man's job . Now at 34 I'm an owner op 2yrs so far . good thing I followed my heart huh ? Yeah , man the food out here is on a whole other level the farther west you go . Stay strong driver , you'll get that feeling back . People kill me trying to rush back home to these do nothing ass family members . (Me included) getting sucked in to the I miss you lies .

I don't know how I ran across your videos, I think it was from TRB's channel. I'm a 59 year old white college degreed Electronic Engineer. For years I travelled the US and the world for work. Then I decided I should settle down and stay in one place so I could be with my family and girlfriend more. It was the worst thing I ever did. Within 6 months I was miserable. Lucky for me I have a great woman....a dedicated high school Special Ed teacher who is behind me all the way. She told me "You're miserable since you stopped traveling. You need to go back out." And she was right. I'm back out traveling. Usually 4 to 6 weeks at a time. Someplace new every week or so. I work 60 plus hours a week (don't EVER think that degree buys you an easy 40 hour week and success......only busting your ass is the path to success). I'm happy. We're nomads, Trucker Brown. People like me you and I will never see enough or be content in one place. And once that has you it never goes away. Namaste young man. I've watched many of your videos. You're what's good about this country.

I appreciate you making this video. I am the same way I love to travel and drive long distances and I was thinking of trucking and I believe I would love the OTR lifestyle most people are bitching about never being home. I have been offered a local job with a company here in the LA area and I think it would be a grind but the money would be good but there is no change of scenery and when I tell this to other people all they do is talk about the money. How being home is great! I have no wife and my kids are grown and I am with you on this. Thank you for posting this video you helped me make the decision!

You ain't lying...Local/Regional is all about getting the money and going home. OTR is more a lifestyle/adventure than a job. Each has it's benefits but OTR is where the fun/excitement is at no doubt. You gotta admit though some OTR drivers absolutely hate their job and themselves are only chasing the money.

Trucker Brown, do not let these circle jerk comments hold you back. Dude, you are better than that. I did 11 years flat bedding until the steel industry took a shit. I'd go back in a heartbeat today. Enjoyed every moment of it, plus the work involved in flat bedding help to keep me in shape, so I enjoyed the exercise. Dude, if that is where your heart is, follow your dreams. Good luck & safe driving.

The home time is really huge for these newer drivers. Crying to be home daily if they could. Yet want the OTR money. Its basically a local job in a sense. Hope you find happiness and the miles again brotha, I've been OTR for my 17 months as a trucker. First year was team, which was cool. Doing a Walmart dedicated up in Indiana and Michigan which is good $ but the scenery is getting old and most of the driving is at night. Start training in a couple weeks, looking forward to the long runs out west and down to Laredo again. I make KZbin videos to called "Jim and Boone's Truckin Journey". Do a search sometime, got my own style. Home to see you out on the road one day. We can blow some clouds. Peace.

I get this. Ran OTR for nine years straight across Canada and a little stateside as well. Went into farm trucking then short haul steel pulling quad axle averaging 86000 lbs on the bed. Now I'm running a boom truck locally. So yeah I went all the way short. There isn't a day that goes by let alone a truck with a sleeper berth that doesn't make me want to be back on the road again. Best of luck to you driver getting back to the work you want.

I can absolutely relate too what you're saying bro, as soon as i started to work a little closer to home my focused changed to how much money I was making and I lost sight about how much fun I was having going OTR 48 rather then sticking around to Cali, and AZ and NV. I'm now back on the OTR, running the 5 corridor, the 10, the 40& 395 and every now and then the east coast west coast runs my best runs are california to the northeaster south east. like you say i don't have any contact for three or four days with anyone from my office i just relax and cruise and stop and start when ever i want to, just get there on time and everything is cool.

Bruh I hear you about Laredo. I ran down there a few times with Swift and Melton too. Roach Coach was at both yards. Here's a suggestion. Go to load school and get your broker license/authority. Get some shippers in these lanes: FL-North East, north east to west coast, west coast to TX, Tx back to FL. That's if you have your own truck. Choose your runs and enjoy life. Good luck.

Sound like you got the bug.....and you only get the bug when trucking is in your blood. I came in to make money because that was what people from Memphis did when that white collar was too uncomfortable. That road gives you time to think and make viable plans. Basically if gives you time to figure out what you really want. It's hard to do that with people in your face all the time. You sound generational and sure enough your pops was a driver too. I got in and found out I love this ish too lol. I get it bro.

yes, but the 804 has some beautiful people, trees and wildlife...i got all my traveling done from ages 19-23...seen it all, done it all. there's no place like home - and home is where the heart is.

I was local for 7 years and had less of a life than I do OTR. Your like a dam robot when your working local. Same routine every day

some times when you first start driving fresh out of school it's exciting ,you want to see the entire country /coast to coast , then canada if so enclined ....after a few years it gets boring , every trucker thats been OTR for more than 10 yrs has been there ,, I have done 35 yrs , out there , I hear what your saying , we make choices , right or wrong ...I changed the type of trailers I pulled ,,refer Van to tanker to drop deck to flat to doubles to line haul "tripples " back to refer in a regional setting "north west out of Idaho " ,,, I have extensive experience on all ... so Brother trucker brown I can relate to your delema .....once your a veteran driver it's all the same ,you chase the miles ..thats what I'm readying to go back to ...i semi retired for a few years ,I'm divorcing after 18 yrs ,,son's on his own , so back to trucking I go ...
