I spent $10K for a Stage 2 forged piston short block (making 313hp currently due to OEM fuel pump/regulator etc) so trust me, seeing you spend $13K to make 400hp speaks a lot to someone like me. I sometimes wish I could go back and start fresh starting with not buying a 07 STi that turned out to have a bad motor but hey, it is what it is. I'm just grateful to have a gf that helped me achieve my dream car AND double down to get a new motor for it :/ I know lots of people like to judge other's builds with mine being a huge “wtf” kind of story but I lived it and learned from it. I didn't have the garage space, tools or knowledge to do it all at home let alone time. Point is we all have our own stories with these motors. We all know what we're getting ourselves into so don't let the $$$ stick to the car's sentimental value. Keep dreaming and push those dyno numbers. We'll all get there one way or another with each being its own unique story to share

Your videos are very informative and I see a quality trend with your take on the build and other builds I respect. I think doing what makes you happy is what's best for you and your car, just like you and someone in the comments said. The car's sentimental value is worth so much more. Each car is as unique as the person building said car. Sometimes question myself as to why I got into this, then I look at my car and I smile. Scooby freak 86 did almost exactly what you did and said almost exactly what you said in this videos, (Not pawer, But, RE-LIA-BI-LI-TY) i think the amount spent is perfect, hight quality parts on a stock block and 400hp its perfect. Now, if you want 600 to 1000hp then you gonna have to built the damn thing and not by a random garage, you need experts and professionals wich means its not gonna be cheap either. Btw if you don’t know scooby freak 86 check him out he’s Subaru is as perfect as yours man. Who knows maybe a colab a “Wash and talk” video that would be killer. Thank you for sharing - wow, had no idea it was that costly to do this - and just imagine if you had paid a shop to do most of it....18-20k. Plus you forgot the quiet/silent bills: chopped hood to replace if sold perhaps. Lost warranty. Additional wear and tear. Add perhaps 5-8k more. One thing you could do for the rest of us: do some serial oil evaluations to see what is happenign IN the engine.... Would be curious if those data and oil change habbits/brands would be informative. Have to keep mine stock. Have the Subaru gold 7y/100k bumper to bumper......so only doing cosmetic stuff and trying to only do OEM parts for those (JDM if you will sometimes). I predict in 3 years you will be on a built billet block, have 700hp, and will be even happier. Hopefully my subscription and others' will financially help you out.

great work with the channel as always random question but have you ever had trouble with a shop changing tires on aftermarket wheels with no tpms. i just ordered my first set and plan to use the summer tires i currently have on the stock rims with tpms on them. do you think ill have an issue with them swapping the tires over to the new rims without tpms?

I also got a regular impreza hood, going for a scoopless sleeper look. Is it worth protuning with the stock DP? I'm in CA... I do have access to the best tuners here, so that's what the plan is.. whattya think?

random questions, but do you know if its possible to put a pushstart/keyless in a regular STI, and is it possible to put a sunroof in a STI that isnt a limited/premium. Cause i want to get a used STI Limited but they are way more money. Was just wondering if you can put them into a regular STI

You can do the push to start mods, ive seen people do them before but I have no experience with it. And you can add a sunroof to any car, just boils down to how much you want to spend, its not cheap to do 😅

Nice build, you and I have a lot of the same parts minus the flex fuel system. I'm running an IAG closed deck long block with BC 272 cams and a Blouch 20GXT-R (8cm housing) tuned on 92 pump. What are your long-term power goals?
@Smeedia4 жыл бұрын
Solid build that you've got! How much power are you making? 🔥 Once the short block lets go swapping in an IAG closed deck block (I belive it was their stage 4 capable of 700WHP), machine and build the Heads, swap the turbo to the XR Zero, change injectors and fuel pump Nd shoot for 600WHP with the car. Initial goal was to push ghr stock block as far as possible so still in that phase. But shooting for more once this block dies.
@chron1514 жыл бұрын
@@Smeedia The car is conservatively tuned to 374 whp on Pacific Import Auto's Mustang Dyno. I'm running 20 psi and it doesn't make a lot of sense for me to go to E85 because of where I live. If I did eventually decide to do a flex fuel setup and speed density I'd probably be in the 420 - 440 whp range without pushing my build.
@Smeedia4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a solid build, how was the tuning processes at PIA? Have heard a lot of mixed reviews from there
@chron1514 жыл бұрын
@@Smeedia The tune was straight forward, no issues at all. I decided to stay with the turbo in the stock location when I did the FMIC so the turbo lag isn't bad. I could daily drive it if I wanted to but now it's more of a weekend\maybe occasional track toy.
