Im in the same boat. I have so much fastback already and switches I am stuck on that path. I know ill have to weather it to get it looking appropriate. Thank you for sharing.

Looks great and with the ballast on it will top it off. I'm so glad to hear your ballasting in-between the ties. Yes nobody does that and it irks me to no end. Hahahha!!!!! I got a video on how I ballast in-between my ties, but I found a faster way to do it now. Joey recard is awesome man and a good modeler. Great work man and worth the time.

Thanks! Can’t wait to get to ballasting as I think that’ll really seal the deal. Maybe I’ll do a video on whatever technique I end up going with for that as well. Little details make such a huge difference in the end!

Nice looking weathering on the fast track

It's a really good technique I usually airbrush my n scale kato unitrack with craft acrylics from Walmart Target or Michaels

Airbrushing is one way to go about it. I actually own a cheap starter airbrush kit that I have yet to use, mainly because I’m too lazy to try new techniques and clean everything when I have my tried and true techniques lol. Thanks for watching!

Your weathering process for Fastrack is awesome, great video! How do you tackle the intricacies of switches?
@marslightmodeling1753 Жыл бұрын
Same process. Just takes a little while longer with more rails to paint

Looks good. I came across an article in a model train magazine about 12 years ago about weathering track with diluted India Ink. I applied it to all my Fastrack; I'm not unhappy with it per say, but if I had it to do over I would have tried something else.

Do you intend on using actual ballast for the roadbed to supplement your track weathering? Regardless, this layout looks very promising! Not every day you see someone devoted to the Nickel Plate Road, where I live its either all Central or Pennsy and *maybe* C&O if I'm lucky.

Yep. Once I get the track raised up and the trains running ballasting will be next. Should look really good when it’s all done. And yeah, I chose NKP mainly because I really like the way their engines looked and the lake shore territory of their mainline is a neat and scenic area that really inspired me. Can’t wait to share more as I continue to progress!
