I feel like Rapidash is a Pokemon that's due for a stat buff. It's got an excellent movepool at this stage, with Flare Blitz, Wild Charge, High Horsepower, Throat Chop, Megahorn, Play Rough, Poison Jab, Smart Strike, even stuff like Morning Sun and Swords Dance. Just a bit more Attack and Speed to match up against the modern day power crept insanity would do it good.

LOVED this video, the whole idea of trying to buff pokemon in ways that make sense/feel natural is a great idea. If I could make any sort of suggestion for a future rework, I would like to see you tackle buffing the Scraggy line, specifically in gen 6, it can be found relatively early (on route 5) every since the debut of the fairy types the line has been struggling to keep up relevance, getting worse and worse as the gens go by and I hate seeing one of my favorite pokemon get done dirty like that, it's got such a unique stat spread so seeing someone giving the line a bit of love would be awesome! I was not expecting the Shinx line to be covered next, but I like it. Congrats on reaching over 10,000 subscribers! In Gen 6, these are Pokémon that would've benefited from gaining the Strong Jaw ability. From its creation to the latest games Luxray is available in, it can learn or be bred to know Thunder Fang, Bite, Crunch, Ice Fang, Fire Fang, and Psychic Fang. I believe that they benefit from a Speed increase as well as the Dark typing, like shown in some fan-made games. It was interesting to see how Luxray would play with the secondary Dark typing. I'm glad that you gave Luxray access to the elemental fang moves in this run. They really do appreciate the type coverage. While I would've made them level-up moves, I respect your decision. Glare was a clever move to give the line as well as Agility. Shadow Tag would be a fun ability for Luxray in fan games given its Dex entries. This was another fun video. I'm looking forward to the next Pokémon that you cover. Based on the clue you gave, depending on the game you're gonna play with them, these are my guesses when ruling out Pokémon that you've already covered: Beedrill, Kantonian Raticate, Arbok, Sandslash, Golbat(in games where you can't evolve it), Onix(in games where you can't evolve it), Hypno, Kantonian Farfetch'd, Dewgong(although I like it and have used it on an in-game team for either FireRed or LeafGreen), Kantonian Muk, Kantonian Electrode, Lickitung(in games where you can't evolve it), Seaking, Jynx, Flareon, or Porygon(in games where you can't evolve it).

With that said, don't forget that you can experiment with other video concepts for different series. I would suggest considering this earlier on rather than later so that once you become a MASSIVE channel, the precedent is already set for you doing a wide variety of things and you won't feel as restricted to try and play the algorithm game. There's certainly a tricky balance to this, because on the other hand you certainly don't want to overwhelm yourself and get burnt out. Pace yourself, and you'll find success!

I've only watched your Chikorita video and less then ten minutes if this one and I'm already convinced that you deserve a fucking sub. This is phenomenal content. EDIT: If you weren't focused on using Luxray as much as possible, Dark type would be much less of a hindrance. That said, when you're trying to handle every fight with it to the furthest extent possible, then yeah, adding Dark type is gonna present issues.

there's a lot of pokemon youtube videos about the competitive aspect of the game, or the art of the pokemon. fixing, hating, praising, playing competitive. i have never seen someone try to improve the casual experience and trying to realize the fantasy of certain pokemon in the franchise. focusing on one pokemon line for one game is such a neat balancing idea, and im amazed in the history of video platforms you're the first to be successful at it. youre like the complete opposite of a casual elitist or competitive snob. you marry the game design of individual games to individual pokemon. its a much easier prospect than balancing 900 pokemon for a whole new game, and its made me rethink my appreciation of the series more. ive never done game design, but this feels like a designer going through the thematic elements of their game and trying to realize it through the limitiations and mechanics of the game. i aint even watch the video yet, i just want to give you your flowers man. love these videos n look forward to catching them in my subscriptions

The reason luxio learns Thunder fang when it does is so that the wild Luxio on Route 222 know a STAB move. I recently made a rom hack of Platinum, and moved TFang to spark's spot (lateral move) and Discharge to TFang's. I also made it compatible with TM Avalanche, since lynxes live in high altitude areas with lots of snow. Also, I moved Shinx's habitat to Oreburgh Gate and Mt. Coronet, to more clearly establish both that area's association with electric types, and that Luxray lives at high altitudes. I think it makes the climb up Mt. Coronet feel much less like a generic Pokemon cave.

Minor nitpick, tackle could probably be swapped for scratch? Luxio’s dex entries in particular often make note of its claws, which isn’t represented much in its moveset Shinx’s dex entires also talk about it’s ability to blind enemies, but there aren’t exactly a lot of light moves

Personally, I think you could've relied more on Luxray's Dark typing. While I absolutely get the hype behind Agility, late game Sucker Punch is far better (especially now being STAB), and I was expecting you to put it to good use in the last couple of fights in this video. The point of having priority is that you can forgo being naturally faster than your opponent because you can almost certainly strike it first. Luxray lacks any priority naturally, but imagine it using a priority move as strong as Sucker Punch (in particular, the pre-nerf version that was 80 BP). That would mean the Brave nature would not be such an hinderance, plus you now don't have to use Agility in theory, so you open a moveslot to an extra coverage option like Ice Fang.

I want to see Vulpix/Ninetales thrive in an early gen, personally. They were among my favorites of the first batch, but back in the Gen 1 games they were the second-worst line of Fire types (better than Ponyta/Rapidash but not by a lot). One thing I've mused on a lot recently is that I think Ninetales in particular should have been Fire/Ghost for a few reasons: - It is said to be made of several spirits joined together - It tends to place curses in its lore and use moves like Confuse Ray - Its spiritual nature is actually capitalized on in the Alolan form getting Fairy type in addition to Ice type - In the Let's Go games, it's an encounter in Pokemon Tower because kitsune are associated with death and graveyards - There was only one Ghost line in Gen 1, and it was dual Poison type (I think Marowak should also have had a secondary Ghost type)

Oh man, this video came at a hilarious timing, I’ve been playing Platinum with a luxray on my main team. I’ve always Loved its design and it was great in PLA with access to the elemental fangs, so I’ve always wished it was just a tad bit stronger in the other games, you’ve done a great job at showing that like always And re: the beginning bit of the video, I’m so happy you’ve reached 10k. I started following you with the chikorita video. This is such a unique format and the way it’s executed is excellent (if I had to name my favorite part, it has to be how much thought and effort you put into building the Pokémon’s Character as you see fit. I love how you not only think of how to make them more viable/stronger, but also think more and build onto the personalities you give them, it makes the whole video really fun and you really get to grow attached to the Responsible Pidgeot, the Caring Meganium or the Hollow Parasect. I like this aspect of your videos a lot if you can’t tell haha). These videos honestly cheer me up and I try to watch them the second they get uploaded if I’m able. This one actually came in a pretty timely manner because I was in a bad mood when it was uploaded and seeing the notification cheered me up a bit and made me look forward to watching it later, so I thank you for that! I remember liking the Shinx line so much cause of how adorable it was. The moveset was rather difficult to deal with, at least at first. But I was also a breeder, so egg moves were something I'd always look into. Although it takes a lot of work, it is possible to get Luxray with rather good coverage via inheritance from Exploud. Ended up with Ice Fang, Fire Fang, Spark and Crunch. Would be nice if they had more to the baseline though... Finished the video and just wanted to add that I remembered I used Leafeon for swords dance baton pass to Luxray for setup, filling in much the same role as howl and agility. Just further proves the concept and I would definitely have appreciated howl and agility on base line

29:17 Fun Fact! As one of the few Cherrim stans, Flower Gift doesnt boost special attack. It actually boosts Attack and Special Defense! I recently did a Pokemon Platinum Nuzlocke and used one. Sadly it did die (RIP Solar) but I do quite love it

The thing with "Evil" is that it is subjective and given Japan's cultural woes, a lot of "evil" pokémon are just victims of prejudice. (biggest offender is Absol getting a rep for causing disasters when in reality it most likely shows up to warn people about disasters)

The shinx line is one of favorite groups of Pokémon, and I always have one on my Sinnoh playthroughs. The unfortunate problem of course is the lack of good late game physical moves (similar to Flareon and other physical fire and electric types). Gamefreak really needs to add new physical electric and fire moves. Also congrats on 10k subs! I’m so happy to have stumbled across this channel. Keep up the awesome work!

I really love that you take the time to do a full playthrough with these updated pokémon, especially since you're focusing on balancing them in the generation they are typically most prominent in or first appear in. It really gives a better picture of how they actually would play in practice, instead of analyzing them in a vaccuum. It feels more like you're simply trying to make them more fun to use with their own niche, instead of the most powerful option. This series has really inspired me to adjust my approach to conceptualizing both fakemon and creatures for my own capturing game concept. Keep up the awesome work!

I'm usually pretty cautious when clicking on a Pokemon video with little views or from a channel with few subscribers (at least when I first started watching), but this idea is something I haven't seen done a lot, and definitely not this well. I love how unlike a lot of rom hacks and balance patches you don't try to create sweeping monsters and instead keep the Pokemon's original spirit in mind, like the Skitty/Delcatty video. It's a great thing to see how the channel grows and I can't wait to see what else is in store. Also in terms of what video's next, my guess is either Seaking or Sandslash but leaning more towards Seaking. In a gen full of water types, it fails to find a niche. It's among the slowest of Swift Swim users even in its gen, has a middling attack stat that was even more useless before gen 4, and is straight up outclassed in every respect by Gyarados

Oh cool, the Intimidate mon finally gets a chance to do something different! 19:21 I don't think this would work because Luxray's speed stat is lower than every roaming legendaries speed stat. So you'd either need to overlevel, in which case you can't repel trick. Or, to pre-paralyse with a faster pokemon, in which case Luxray just doesn't have anything over other Mean Look users or Wobbuffet. For roamers in Sinnoh, it's really hard to beat Jumpluff + Sleep Powder. Very impressive performance from Annette, really managed to step up and actually be a fully useable mon outside of intimidate. Well done and good job as usual! And congrats on getting 10K subs, you deserve them for how amazing this series is.

I think keen eye would have been a great idea to replace rivalry considering how much the dex mentions luxray seeing through walls. Like no matter what smokescreens you try throwing, luxray will still see you clearly, and keen eye would be a great gameplay ability to match the dex.
