It would be such a big change up on Scott’s part having the Tales books be 100% canon to the game’s universe. I took Tales the same as the Frights books. I've personally always been a Stitchline and Talesgames believer, but it's really nice seeing other perspectives on the books, and I do love that you did mention the whole canon vs continuity thing, because that really did need to be cleared up for some people. This is how I view the books and how they should be used: Novel Trilogy: Parallel to the game timeline, with similar characters Frights: I actually have a different view on when Scott said some are connected some aren't. I do understand where you're coming from, but I do personally think he meant that some stories directly influence what happens in the games and other stories are just random stories that don't really change anything from the games, though they still are in the same continuity. I do think your viewpoint on Frights is still plausible, but we're going to have to see. I wouldn't really care if Frights was canon or not to be honest. Tales: I am 100% a Talesgames believer, and you did make a good point with layout differences. But one thing I feel like we should keep in mind is that these books were written in 2019 - 2020, really early on in SB's development history. Tales has a circle Atrium, and we know that concept art for a circular Atrium for SB does exist. As well as the fact that Tales has airlocks connecting the locations instead of elevators like there are in the games; and in the old game trailers, we can see that there are airlocks instead of elevators, matching Tales perfectly. But for everything else, I can see where you're coming from. It's always nice seeing a different perspective on things even if I may disagree with them sometimes, keep up the good work!

Also another thing in Fourth Closet at the end: Based on the Tombstone, Charlie died in 1983….which is about the same year the bite of 83, meaning That Charlie died before CC. Which also Aligns Midnight Motorist happening in 1983. Also if we cna It also aligns what with what Fredbear says “Don’t you remember what you saw?” It can’t be The MCI that he saw, because it happened in 1985 according to the silver eyes trilogy….. by the time that Orange Guy got to house after killing Charlotte, CC was already gone…so CC must have been left sometime before Orange Guy kills Charlotte, It’s also possible that Charlottes Death is what he saw. Also another thing, Can we use books like Coming Home to solve the lore???? Because if so then we can use the Book as an answer to What happened 6am at each night. I have a feel like one thing that’s been on my mind ever since seeing the book is the whole scene representing Susie going to heaven at the end of the book….because if we can use the book to solve the lore, how much does this effect what we see in Happiest Day? . . . Also with The Inclusion of Circus Baby’s Entertainment and Rental in Dittophobia, we conduct that Elizabeth was the first to die in the series. Also With the Nightmares revealed to be a illusion and are also Featured In UCN This time, I’m more than just a illusion. People don’t seem to be talking about this but with FNAF 4 solved, revealed to be a experiment that Afton is torturing his son with and the nightmares revealed to be a illusion. Here's the main problem with TalesGames and layout: They retconned so many design details in Ruin. If they wanted it to be more similar to the books they would've, no? Instead, they did not do that. They *chose* to display the broken down pizzaplex in a similar style to the SB one. It also still doesn't touch on the timeline which is in my opinion the most damning piece of evidence. I'll agree with you on one thing: the books were *originally* probably meant to be directly related to the games. But Steelwool took the books as ideas or inspiration instead of cold hard facts.

It uses almost every letter in the alphabet. Not a singular letter is resembling the "squiggles, loops, rectangles" we hear about in the books. Gameplay, sure, Steelwool probaby wanted to change some minor details to make the game flow better and reserve themselves some creative freedom. But a language on a static wall that most people are gonna skip over anyways? That's just not something that would be retconned just for the sake of giving freedom for creativity to Steelwool. That's retconning something for the sake of retconning. Unless it was never meant to be taken literally.

I think we can all agree that the books have been very wild, especially with Sea Bonnies, but given to what we know now, I wouldn't be surprised to think Sea Bonnies are a euphemism for Glitchtrap taking over someones body, especially with how the story goes and even ends. With Matpats recent theory that Cassies dad is the Bully who wore the Bonnie mask in Fnaf 4, its kind of genius when you think about it. Fnaf's old story was always about the Aftons, what happened to them, and the aftermath. We never bothered to think about the people that got affected by all the tragic events. Like the parents of the missing kids, whatever happened to them after they lost their kids? In the case with the bullies in Fnaf 4, we largely believed that they were either part of the missing kids in 85, but we never knew what happened to them, so we just pushed them aside. This is similar to Mrs. Afton, as we had some idea that she existed, but with lack of evidence, we just brushed her off as if she didn't exist. The books do seem to suggest that Tales from the Pizzaplex are almost connected to where they could be based off of somewhat true events. As for the first book, where a girl gets swallowed by goo humans, could be a similar case to The Princess getting swallowed by the blob rabbit in PQ 1??? I've loved every single book that's released, and I do think people are being a little too harsh on them. Are they perfect? No Are they good to read? Yeah Can they help us understand the story to Fnaf? Sure While some people can claim Steel Wool and Scott are running out of ideas for Fnaf, I don't think that's the case. The reason why they're calling back to old Fnaf games, is probably to give clarification to the complicated story that Scott was trying to tell. Even though Fnaf has its continuity errors, it seems the current games are trying to help clear it up, and tell us that some things in the past are worth looking at, to help us understand what's happening now. Thanks ID's, you've given us another banger of a video!!!!! :D P.s. Have you seen this video yet? It's AMAZING!!!!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3uUpaR3lruLpZo

I've been in the FNAF fandom long enough to remember people getting mad when Matpat suggested "purple guy" might be William Afton from the books. Then came Sister Location and we hear his name in the first minute. Like you said, Scott established years ago that the books are an alternate universe but that some characters/concepts/locations/plotlines would be paralleled (some closely like GGY and some loosely like the missing children's incident) in the games. Which parts we should pay attention to are just theories and guesswork until it's explicitly stated in a future game. The thing I wish more fans recognized is that other people's thoughts, feelings, theories, and headcanons don't threaten or diminish THEIRS. Way too many people get aggressive when you suggest something they don't personally agree with and it honestly stifles the creativity of the fandom as whole. Really glad you made this video despite probably knowing how the folks who belive the books are same continuity as the games could react. Also despite agreeing that a mimic of afton is certainly cool, but it as presents has too many very intentional conflicts, with the clearest being Occam's razor, the simplest solution being the most likely. When a digital rabbit man appears in a VR game and says "I always come back" and then a corpse is found still attached to a yellow rabbit animatronic where Willam afton was left to burn, it kinda seems obvious. Compounded by the tales books really not having the mimic or mimic program do anything really willy "pewpaw" afton like (other than murder, but its a horror series based on haunted animatronics, theres always gonna be a murder bot) and deliberately having the mimic present as a white tiger makes the whole point of the mimic replacing burntrap pointless. Looking foreward to see what origins or implied connections the game mimic will have going foreward, and if glitchtrap still has any presence, in either helpy (is the yellow his eyes change to close, or the same as midnight motorist man?) Or after both those under his control are lost if he looses his power and is repurposed partially into MXES to a minor degree. I'm even cool with the princess quest ending freeing vanny killing him with all that remains of him being the vanny mask. Sorry for the rant, but hope more people in the community will come to understand how the continuity conflicts aren't trying to degrade the books but try to use them in a more clean and precise way to help figure out the mysteries of the games, so nothing ends up forgotten, forever.

I think, we're at a point where using the books just isn't helping anymore and they're diluting the focus away from the games and information we clearly learnt in said games. When Scott said the first novel trilogy would have tie ins with the game series despite not fitting together like two pieces in a jigsaw, it was really vauge and unhelpful but I think he just used that as a springboard for cross platform character like revealing William, Charley and Henry in the books so he could use those characters in the games. Pretty sure that's as far as it goes, remember he made that statement before he had even written illusion disks and robo child, I think it's fair to say he intended those to be mostly book specific, the disks have slight wiggle room I think since they don't impact too much of the story. The Fazbear Frights ones were weird, I just ignore them completely when talking about the games because there are similarities sure but the differences contradict too many things, and though the games have become more fantastical, I'm still icky saying Fazgoo could be real in game. The quote about some stories being closely aligned with the games, some with the original novel trilogy is again very vauge but I think it just meant that some shared elements from both series, like Ella appearing in book 3, and I think Into The Pit might actually be related to the OG Novels because the dates and years do match up quite nicely. Idk what to make of Tales of the Pizzaplex, most of those stories don't even take place in the Pizzaplex. But with it sharing a name with a local in the games you'd think it would be a no brainer that it's canon, but then you realise the Mimic story we get told by the Candy man in RUIN doesn't actually line up with the one from those books. So idk at this point. Because it's so vauge how these books connect with the games I just don't think it's worth continuing to use them, at least in the way we have been. And if I hear the word "parallel" one more time I might scream

THANK YOU! I thank you for finally pointing out the clear discrepancies with TalesGames! You and Siresquawks are some of my favorites and should definitely collab one day! I feel a lot of people (myself included) forget to remember what they’re arguing before they argue it, and then they dismiss SO many things that are clearly there and then excuse it. If one has to continuously put in a “what-if” situation as a reason for a discrepancy in a theory without much evidence to back it up, then it is up to the one making that statement to prove it correct, not the one receiving the statenent to prove it incorrect! TalesGames is a very misunderstood theory, with several holes in it, I suggest watching SireSquawks’s take on it (one if his recent videos on it), but it is far from confirmed and people shouldn’t have to be pressured to believe a theory if it takes that much logical leaps. And then they try to say that it’s confirmed when it isn’t. I thank you for genuinely standing at a position to not make such extreme statements and blindly going off of some statements! Love the content! You’ll make it far as a theorist! I love it when people use a similar amount of evidence from both the books and games to prove them as one, rather than excessively from one source and then like one or two details. You are a real one, I see you as an amazing theorist, and thank god you don’t jump so many leaps and go “I believe,” instead of “that’s it! It’s confirmed!” such a breath of fresh air! 🫡

Since you mentioned BurnTrap, here’s my take on him: The Mimic, under the form of GlitchTrap, commanded Vanny to go and rescue the remains of Afton after the fire of Pizza Sim. and to fix it. Vanny gave the remnant of the children she killed to Afton’s body to regenerate it and make it stable, then used parts from a Glamrock Endo to fix his missing parts’ like his right arm, used part of a SpringTrap suit (maybe one from the FunTime Survive from FNaF AR) and some metal scraps to hold everything together. Then The Mimic would have possessed this newly re-built body as the ultimate way to mimic Afton: by literally becoming him That’s also why BurnTrap needs to stay in the charging station, because it’s weak and needs energy. In the Princess Quest ending, we kill GlitchTrap before it can posses and become BurnTrap, forcing The Mimic to go to his base form as we see in Ruin. In the BurnTrap ending, Gregory goes down to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Place, where GlitchTrap is forced to prematurely posses BurnTrap, and this is why it i s so weak during the Boss Fight. All of this is backed up by the fact that that BurnTrap’s design has a lot in common with SpringBonnie’s and SpringTrap’s, like the ribbed cage, the ears, and BurnTrap has some springloack mechanism on his arm and has flesh positioned in the same place as SpringTrap (in the center of its body. I recommend Sire Squawks’ two videos comparing BurnTrap’s, SpringTrap’s SpringBonnie’s and many others design and models relative to this conversation. First Video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXuWq5d9Ys6Upa8 Second Video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5Tbg3RvrdWspNU TL;DR BurnTrap is Afton’s body fixed and possessed by The Mimic. This can be a cool headcanon that explains why The Mimic goes from being a bare endo in the TFTPP epilogues to BurnTrap stuck in the charging station at the end of SB to again a bare endo in Ruin. SPOILER FOR B-7 2 And for those who believe KellyTrap, in the epilogue for B-7 2, The Mimic takes Kelly’s body off itself

The problem is people dont want to infer, they want the books to tell them literally by being told exactly how it happens / would happen in the game Its clear that the story is taking like an “alternate universe” approach where two characters are the “same” but live two different lives and they will always have a constant like michael will always be betrayed or William will always die in a spring lock suit but how they get there is different

I was under the impression that both the books and the games are cannon but are different worlds. Where they share a similar fate. As for Tales from the Pizza, and Fazzbear Freights some of the story's are from the Game, while others are from another place that share similar fate, like the story about Suzy takes place in the Game world, while the story about the dancing Balora glasses is from another world, or the girl that gets stuck in a virtual world.

When it comes to the series, multiple timelines makes sense. Since those timelines can share certain aspectes between them. And yet there are some stuff we don't have a definate answer to. The actions Henry took in the two continuities can be seen as different. But we don't exactly know what he did between Charlie's death and the events of Pizzeria Simulator. So it could have been possible for him to try and remake his daughter via robots. However, there's nothing in the Games that would imply this. Gregory being a robot.... Yeah this is something that everyone dislikes. I mean seriously, Matpat's theory about this was insane. But at the same time, with animatronics able to be human in terms of personality and feeling... It seems likely even if I don't want to accept it. The Mimic is something that everyone is still trying to figure out. Especially with its significance in the timeline. But personally, I feel like that it and the costumes you can find in Ruin implies that its from at least the mid to late 1970s. Since despite how Mat says that the location its in is Circus Baby's, I believe that its' William's first resturant. After all, a resturant with no theme what so ever and various costumes makes sense. Especially with how the history of Chuck E Cheese was used as inspiration for the series in some way.

Thank god someone has finally said it, it's hard to have a discussion with people when they believe the word canon alone on the books means they are a 1:1 to the games even when that's just not true. I wish some of the other theorists took this approach and actually brought up the difference between canon and continuity and how the books have factual errors. MatPat and many others haven't really explained their reasoning, they just say the books aren't connected which is part of why everyone's going off. I wish this video gets a ton of views so more people understand but since he is so big I think if MatPat said the same thing you just did that it would clear up a ton of confusion for people quicker and help get rid of some of the hate. So William glitchtrap burntrap learn to be a violet evil villain like the mimic? Also mimic has white teeth like eclipse circus baby and in balloon world evil eclipse has orange eyes like mimic and then ruin evil eclipse was on the roof wall also eclipse is the same height of mimic also William burntrap have yellow rotting burnt teeth? Also I just want to say that and help wanted one William glitchtrap is interacting with the player and waving at them but the mimic would have to learn copy that behavior of someone and we don't know if the mimic seen William or not glitchtrap burn trap William came out before the mimic was never introduced it was only after the first security breach and help wanted one that the mimic was introduced in the books and Ruin?

Honestly, I think the minor changes you listed in the tales books - such as the shape of the pizzaplex, the mr hippo magnets, etc etc, were what was meant to show that the tales from the pizzaplex is a different continuity than the games - considering we don’t have Scott interacting with the community as much, nor a representative from Steel Wool doing so, I think those changes are either just A) The Authors getting it wrong due to not having all the knowledge, or B) To Essentially confirm, albeit super subtly, that the tales books are separate and not 100% true to the games. Might have some similarities obvs - I think no one can deny that, but who knows, maybe a future book will basically prove us all wrong at this rate lmao.

This is how I've ALWAYS viewed the Relationship between the games and books: The games are all 100% Canon to the Universe, but the timeline is slightly different than the books. The novel trilogy is meant to fill in for the gap between FNaF 1 and FNaF 3 (The 30 year gap), in a different "timeline". [The novels is where we got 1985 = MCI.] The first run of "FazBear Frights" is loose canon between the universes of game AND books. It expands the universe and helps explain certain rules within the FNaF universe. FazBear Frights (Run 2)/"Tales From The PizzaPlex" is like 50% canon to the games. Scott said they were directed related/connected to the games--but there ARE certain differences. The biggest difference between the timelines I noticed seems to be when FazBear Entertainment buys out William & Henry's restaurant.

I think no matter how similar some of the stories in the books are to events in the games, the books are in completely separate continuities/timelines from the games themselves. The vast majority of the books are clearly intended to basically be metaphors/parallels for events from the games as a way to add more elaborate on but also not specifically answer mysteries from the games themselves. However, some aspects are very literally copied into the games such as Henry, William Afton being used as the killer's name, Charlie being the puppet, the mimic, etc. These are just straight parallels and aren't coy metaphors for things like other stories in the books are. Regardless the only things actually CANON are the events we see in the games themselves, they might copy paste elements from the books but the only things we can take as 100% true are game events

@IDsFantasy Жыл бұрын
People say it confirms that, but that's why I pointed out how in Tales, the dates and timelines given wouldn't work with the games, so the same should be applied to Dittophobia. Additionally, in Dittophobia, Foxy is described as having black eyes, which Funtime Foxy doesn't have, and the Funtimes are inactive unlike they are in Sister Location. My guess is that means Sister Location actually happened before Dittophobia takes place. Thank you!

Scott's sentence about the characters and plots is like a prime example of an SAT writing question. He most likely meant to be interpreted as you described, but his use of commas makes it ambiguous at best, and the opposite of that at worst. The phrase "each containing...plot lines" is an appositive phrase. It gives additional information but isn't necessary to identify the preceding noun (books). The sentence "The series will launch with five books, some connected directly to the games, and some not." is a perfectly fine sentence which implies that the sentence was intended as such, but was given the extra appositive phrase "each containing...plot lines" for additional, but not essential, information. This would have the almost certainly unintended consequence of the *books* not their elements being what is either connected or not. The only way for that to be consistent is if some books have no direct connections to the games which I think is impossible given they all had an epilogue which had clear connections to the games. As an SAT tutor, I highly recommend Scott invent a time machine and go back to restructure that sentence to clarify its meaning. I hope that wasn't too complicated or convoluted, although for FNAF fans that's nothing new. This is what happens when you get slightly old and a job that involves teaching proper writing and grammar. Don't do it kids; stick with math instead.

@@Argalia1st The entire point of this video was that it's not an all or nothing situation. You don't HAVE to ignore anything. From the very beginning of the books Scott said that while the books are their own universe some things (characters, situations, concepts, etc) are a reflection of game canon. So you can acknowledge that some details are clearly not canon between the book pizzaplex and the games (like the shape of the building or the character Charlie) while pointing to other aspects as being near perfect reflections (like Gregory is GGY). Even if there do turn out to be more book/game reflections in the Tales books that still doesn't make them 1 to 1 recreations.

Great video! :) Yeah... we need to respect eachother more in this community. I've had multiple debates trying to defend not being TalesGames and hooo boy that can get a lot of people trying to convince you. At this point, I honestly just think TalesGames vs. not TalesGames isn't particularly relevant - the events that happened in the past can happen in the games continuity or not, I'm on the not side for at least a decent bit of it, but it doesn't really matter since the only real crossover we have is with Mimic, who has no definitive backstory in the games so it's not necessarily the same as its backstory in Tales. Other stories such as GGY and one of the upcoming ones don't connect to events in the games, even if they do line up near-perfectly with a character or such. Does it matter if they're canon to the games or not? Not much. The Tales books are important and tell us things, the things we're told are important, not necessarily the connections (especially the ones that break the timeline). Aaaaand that ended up being a rant. I probably didn't explain my thought process very well, but whatever.

So, I've never actually read any of the fnaf books (terrible, I know), but I have seen lots of theories and analysis on them, and something that I've noticed is that they all share common themes, names, places, events, etc. So while it may only seem like they are just stories Scott pulls out of thin air to confuse the audience sometimes, I actually agree with the theory that the books are showing us different realities and timelines separate from the games. Because let's be real, Scott has a big brain, and as a writer, I too understand the need to let all the possibilities fly out of my head and into books lol

I think the books are in the same line as Help wanted, or that certain indie game developer making games based on the events at Fazbear’s. Someone made these books to stir up hype and mystery for a new opening. Appeal to kids and adults alike. Kinda sounds like what’s happening in real life with the books.

For me, I typically consider there to also be 4 categories of books: Silver Eyes Trilogy Fazbear Frights Tales from the Pizzaplex Misc (Informational and the outliers you had mentioned) Also wouldn't the Security Logbook be considered informational since it heavily helped us find Cassidy's name, and tried helping us solve FNaF 4?
@IDsFantasy Жыл бұрын
I consider the Logbook it's own thing. Informational is stuff like The Character Encyclopedia and The Ultimate Guide. The Logbook is essentially an in universe thing Mike actually had

Being a fan of FNAF and juggling all these continuities has been great practice for my own writing! I've also learned a lot from the series about how much complexity is good for a story and when it starts to be too much

Hi ID I just wanted to say that sometimes I don’t use the books for how many people will Interpret them in the wrong way so I do agree with you about how the books may help fill in the gap in the game like Henry and Charlie but sometimes they are kinda useless like the mimic is burntrap but you can use the books if you want I just wanted to give out my thoughts why I wouldn’t use the books that much

I'm curious I.D., if you can answer, how is it do you think that you have one of the clearest, in my opinion, most logical and thought out theories? What do you attribute to you having such a seemingly, from outside looking in, solid grasp of the lore? I remember you've said multiple times you binged the lore for months but other theorists have been at this for years and yet like I said, your theories stand out to me as most logical without any leaps in said logic that I can think of. So if you can answer, what do you attribute as the reason you're able to theory craft so successfully?
@IDsFantasy Жыл бұрын
I think there are a couple things, but I'd say one of the most important things is making sure that you account for every detail and not assume retcons.

Scott pulling a, "Well, yes, but actually, no" But I think it's cool that the books are there to help out with the lore in their own way while also entertaining us with the stories in them. You'd also notice a theme around the stories which may or may not be implying something to the lore but even if it doesn't, it's nice details like those that reminds us to pay attention or just enjoy it if you want

I kind of want to make a representative artistic model of the entire FNAF fan theory fandom where there are the writers in the center, and there are a whole load of FNAF theorists from wildly different sides of the debate spectrum going from hating where the game is going all the way to loving it.

The Five Nights at Freddy’s books are amazing - I especially love The Silver Eyes Novel Trilogy - but it’s important to not get confused between the main line of lore and all the little branches. I have read all the books before and they were… confusing at times but this video really helped me tell what’s what. Thank you❤️❤️

I think the pending lawsuits in Help Wanted were against Fazbear Ent. for Jeremy's death rather than the indie dev. More importantly, if your issue with Stitchline is that 6 victims were killed in the original missing children incident instead of 5, that might not actually be a retcon. Correct me if I'm wrong, but outside of the original novel trilogy (AU), it has NEVER been stated exactly how many children have been killed in the MCI. The only instances of there being 5 victims in the game continuity are the newspaper clippings in FNaF 1 and the Foxy minigame in FNaF 2. The newspaper clippings however only state 5 children were connected to the incident after only two children were seen going to the back rooms of the pizzeria. Meaning more than 5 victims could have been killed in that incident. And as for the Foxy minigame, it's not meant to be literal clearly but even if it was, the 6th victim could have been killed differently than the other 5. Another big reason for believing Stitchline is the fact Andrew is clearly shown to be the vengeful spirit who we know is Golden Freddy. If this is true, then Cassidy would be the 6th victim I believe. It would explain the huge contradictions with making Cassidy as GF. There's also the fact Scott went out of his way to delete merch or info suggesting that Cassidy is GF multiple times. Something he's never actually done before for the most part. Andrew's death could have not been linked or known explaining why he wouldn't have a gravestone in FNaF 6 (Or Cassidy). But most of all, WHY would Scott need to make a story about SIX MCI victims if it wasn't meant to have this explanation? It's never elaborated on in FF why it's six. Also, I don't see how the Puppet's tears create an issue but the Blob's design already has other issues with the main game's timeline anyway. I know you might not believe this anyway, but I hope you can bookmark the idea.

As always, fantastic video, explains most things about the topic that newcomers would need and presents evidence of your stances very well. One minor note I have is that you cite the "Lawsuits pending" line as evidence against TalesGames, because Snodgrass. It's not major, obviously, but seeing as FazEnt is lying about their involvement in the FNAF games' development and we know they commissioned them, I don't see a reason as to why the lawsuits should be believed real. They, effectively, even if we are to ignore Help Wanted (tale), commissioned Steve to make them. He is their employee, if not prisoner. What purpose could suing him serve? Heck, unless they want to assassinate him, they should want to keep him happy enough to have his mouth shut, not try to screw him over once they cease cooperation. One thing I am curious about, if I may, now that you aren't a TalesGames believer, do you believe in FrigthTales? Or at least StitchTales? It seems like a natural assumption with Frailty I think. And that is the one universe where Fazbear is never implied to have been in financial ruin, like in games after 1992/3, so I think them having grown into something like games' FazEnt, LLC makes quite a bit of sense.
@IDsFantasy Жыл бұрын
Thanks! And that's fair. My point is mainly that if the indie dev actually died, people would probably know since he did have friends, and Fazbear was trying to make it look like he wasn't working for them. I think FrightsTales is definitely possible given Frailty and the funky timeline stuff :D

I really hope we can get to a simpler time with the timeline like when pizzeria sim came out and everything was tied up into a cute bow and everyone was in peace with the ending 😭
