The thing that no one talks about AFAIK is the middle-to-lower command elements, the sergeants and lieutenants. These are the guys on the ground with the recent combat experience, who guide the privates. They probably were important enough to receive pagers. How many sergeants and lieutenants does a force of 40,000-50,000 have? 10% of the force? A similar number were reported wounded, and a large fraction blinded and maimed. This suggests to me that they lost a lot of combat experience, and Israel has a window of opportunity to attack before some of these guys return to combat, to clean out the tunnels, launchers and missiles, and maybe to take a chunk out of the remaining force.
@MM229662 ай бұрын
That was what I was thinking when it happened too. It's not often you clear out the entire MIDDLE of a terrorist network in one fell swoop (in fact, I can't think of another parallel), and the top guys as well. It is probably severely limiting their ability to bounce back.
@abbottshaull98312 ай бұрын
You are thinking totally in Western Military context. Yes Lower and Middle level of leadership would be more like Lieutenants and Captains. Anything that could be translated to Sergeant are so much lower on the Totem Pole. If they were lucky they may plan their cell local operations, but not part in the planning at any higher level.

Depends on few things such as if any the said assets are in the middle of maintenance, if all personnel to are available to get assets off the ground, and lastly where is safe place they can be shifted to. Two first two are out of the control of the Local Airfield Commanders, and there is no third option. Next after you get aircraft up out of the space, the Security, the Maintenance, and the Support assets are still there. So I guess we go back to the drawing board on this line of thinking.

Why is it that nobody seems to care to speculate on what the Lebanese Army is going to do? From my vantage point, it would seem like an obvious question that directly relates to the end of this conflict is if the Lebanese Army is going to back Israel. I think most people believe that the Lebanese people aren't crazy about Hezbollah being in their country--especially for the fact it resulted in its devastation for which they have never recovered. I keep thinking that the Lebanese Army is waiting for Israel to show that it has sufficiently weakened Hezbollah in southern Lebanon and then they will turn their forces on Hezbollah from north of the Litani River or at the very least not allow Hezbollah fighters to pass one way or the other. In effect, they would be the anvil in an anvil and hammer strategy. After Israel invaded, I saw the Lebanese Army immediately withdrawing from southern Lebanon as a first sign of this. For that reason, I've got my eyes on what's going on in southern Lebanon even though I know Israel is devastating Hezbollah's leadership further north. We just don't get a lot of information from anyone on what's going on down there. I understand it is probably because neither side wants to reveal anything to its enemy; however, I would expect the talking heads to be all over this and the issue of how the Lebanese Army fits into the whole scheme. I mean right now they're speculating on everything from how Israel might respond to Iran to why Israel is attack positions in Syria, but I keep thinking that's not the thing to be speculating on right now. My first concern is whether Israel can end Hezbollah right now and not just hurt it. And I can't help but think that the Lebanese Army taking over the country and weeding out the last remnants of Hezbollah once and for all is the first and foremost sign that this never ending drama of the Middle East might end. But only after Hezbollah is gone and Israel has a relatively safe northern boarder will all things be possible.

The assertion that Iran can perform a battle damage assessment within ten minutes of a missile strike is, at best, laughable. The country lacks the necessary capabilities to accomplish such a task. Concerning Ryan's discussion, it appears he might be referring to the Standard Missile-6, which the US military has been testing for deployment from the F-18. Additionally, there is the Mako, a new hypersonic air-to-ground missile. The Standard Missile-6 is versatile, capable of engaging a wide range of targets, including aircraft, helicopters, naval vessels, and fixed ground installations. by the way operation eagle claw was the first ever mission for delta force, and it ended in a complete diaster. furthermore I utilized DCS as a simulator to replicate an attack scenario from Iran. I deployed David's Sling Arrow 2 along with 12 US Navy SM-6 missiles against 180 ballistic threats, achieving a 76% interception rate. With some strategic planning, I managed to reach a 100% interception rate by arranging the systems in layers and incorporating additional launchers and radars. It's straightforward to calculate the necessary resources; typically, a 3-to-1 ratio is effective in neutralizing all incoming threats. While I recognize it's a game, it operates on realistic parameters and does a decent job of simulating real-world scenarios. I highly recommend giving it a try.

I always wondered on that score: How fast CAN you task open-source satellite image services? Would they refuse or brake the time-line to stay apolitical if somebody like Iran (or a proxy client) came to them asking for imagery of something like an Israeli air base right after it had been bombed?

Good info. Careful there. Ryan Mcbeth might have a different opinion on things you described, declare you a lier, then recommend kinetic strikes against you for spreading mis- or dis- information. @@michaelnextdoor8726 what do you mean like what? Watch his content. He was on a big kick not that long ago about treating mis or dis information the same as valid military targets for kinetic response. He calls people who are wrong or do not know enough about something to understand it liers all the time. He even claims to be debunking others by using his opinions about whatever subject/topic all the time. A recent example is his "libs of tiktok" video. He proceeds to call her a lier while validating there was a place to identify your sexual preference and debunked her statement of that being what they choose to concentrate on as being neccesary because he agrees with the stated objective. Nowhere was there a debunking, it was nothing but a this isn't bad because of these reasons and yet he called her a lier because of it and claimed disinformation. But it's not limited to that. He called some professor from England a lier because he said something was a war crime then proceeds to explain how he was wrong on interpreting something because the guy doesn't have some experience. Being wrong is not lieing.
@pyro10472 ай бұрын
Agreed on Libs of Tiktok, that professor however carrys weight with any claims made because he's in a position that's supposed to be educated and know what he's talking about. So when he makes BS claims that are just his personal feelings and not fact, the majority of people will simply accept it as fact because "He's a professor" therefore "Everything he says must be true or well informed". Having an opinion is fine, but don't abuse your position of responsibility and the honesty your trusted to have. There's a reason government employees have to state that their opinions are their own and not the opinions of "X" company or organization they're in. For instance the DoD is SUPER strict on that, not only must you give a disclaimer, but just saying or doing something they disapprove of while in uniform is a HUGE screw-up they ruin you for. Claiming you falsely portrayed your actions as being acceptable/approved by the military, as while in uniform you are a representative of the US Military. Russia: NATO can't expand into Ukraine, they'd be on our borders! Also too Russia: We'll annex Ukraine so NATO is right on our border!
@Cozzwald692 ай бұрын
You're missing the point of strategic defensiveness provided by the ukrainian borders with western Europe to a millitary force moving east, compared with the current Russian borders of Ukraine.
@CaleMcCollough2 ай бұрын
@@Cozzwald69 No dude, Russia has low birth rate and Putin is getting old, and it was the only opportunity for Putin to annex Ukraine where Russia had enough man power to annex any land. It was a crime of opportunity. Russia and NATO both have nukes, so there is no difference in threat with Ukraine being in NATO or Russia. There was no threat. It's always been Russia and communism and fascism/Russo-fascism/Islamofascism who are the threat.
@sniperfi45322 ай бұрын
@@Cozzwald69what strategic defensiveness? Buying slightly more time against a full nato attack that only comes by land hoping that 3 of those NATO countries don’t decide to use their marine forces for amphibious landings? Or use their air forces and paratroopers hell even their navies? They gain no little to no strategic depth with Ukraine especially now that Finland (which shares a land border with Russia) is also a NATO country.

A security guarantee is not a mutual defense pact. We are doing a ton of shit for Ukraine, this is a nonsense take.
@abbottshaull98312 ай бұрын
Remember the last security guarantee Moscow had. One with a regime in Berlin in 1939. How did that work out for Moscow? So on one hand I see where Moscow has a legit claim to attack anyone who they see as threat first. On the other hand, you don't invade a Nation because you feel like they are like 1939 Poland that is easy pickings. Just saying.

Trivia: There's a short punk song by the Meatmen from the mid-80s called "French People Suck" that references France not letting us use their airspace for that attack of Libya.
@MM229662 ай бұрын
One of the many little irritations by our Francophone pals that culminated in the general American attitude of "French People Suck" around the early 2000's after 9/11. I haven't heard it much recently, though their irritation with us is alive and well. I take it as a good sign. When you can be that annoyed with somebody and stay allies & still conduct military ops together, it's an indicator you're in a good alliance
