In Finland we have seen a number of break-ins and break-in attempts to municipal water service facilities. And the way Finnish secret police fights them was to inform citizens that this is happening, which increases attention of the citizens. More eyes on the streets, when people plan their evening jogging route.. they are more likely to go and check those places visually.

A little additional info on Austria: Neutrality is not part of the Austrian constitution, it is just a law in constitutional rank. What´s the difference you may ask? Being a law in constitutional rank, it means neutrality could be removed with a 2/3 majority in parliament. If it would be a part of the constitution, it would need a referendum. So the reason why Austria is still neutral is not the constitution, but the lack of political will and because free-riding worked out quite well in the past decades.

Rheinmetall is not just "a major manufacturer of 155mm shells" - they are *the* manufacturer of 155mm shells: According to some estimates, they will produce more 155mm shells in 2024 than the entire USA (about 400-500k). Bulgarian here, I don't think the fires and explosions at weapon facilities in Bulgaria were due to Russian agents. Those routinely blow up because they are grossly mismanaged and basic safety protocols are ignored. More often than not they're not even guarded, especially the depots for expired munitions, so if a fire breaks out there's no one on site to put it out or call the fire department. The same kind of incompetence and corruption that exists in Russia is very much present here too. Ukrainian soldiers have complained about munitions supplied by Bulgaria and I can definitely see why.
@RealPolitik-dy4it

Not to mention the fires and explosions at weapons production facilities. These are most likely the result of them ramping up capacity without ramping up the necessary maintenance. Workers working overtime is also a safety hazard when dealing with explosive materials. One spark, and that’s it.

Luckily those US-tier Protests aren't very effective nor important in most of European Countries because for Example in Germany, Poland, Italy, Hungary etc. we don't have a big History of Colonisation nor Slavery, and those of us who had Colonies, had them for a short Time. Which is why Black People and Racial Divides are not a Topic in most of European Countries outsides of the UK and France. So those Tactics would never work here, no matter how hard they try. That said, those "Anti-Nuclear Protests" were sadly very effective in certain Countries where "Racial Topics" didn't work. Germany especially.

Having brought my countrymen to their knees, the Mafia triumvirate of the KGB, Party and Army moved on to conquer neighbouring countries. Today they are busy in your country, in your home town. They have stated openly that it is their dearest wish to do to the world what they have done to my country. They make no secret of it. I spent thirty years of my life on my knees. Then I got up and ran. This was the only way I could protest against the system. Are you surprised, my dear Western friend, that I did not demonstrate against the KGB while I was living there? Well, there is something which surprises me, too. In your own beautiful country, the KGB, that monstrous organisation, is hard at work at this very moment, the Soviet Communist Party is subsidising a horde of paid hacks and crackpots. Soviet Military Intelligence is sending members of its diversionary units to visit your country, so that they can practise parachuting on to your native soil. The aim of all this activity is, quite simply, to bring you to your knees. -Suvorov V. Inside the Soviet Army "I want to warn Americans, As a people, you are very naive about Russia and its intentions. You believe because the Soviet Union no longer exists, Russia is now your friend. It isn't, and I can show you how the SVR [formerly KGB] is trying to destroy the U.S. even today and even more than the KGB did during the Cold War." -Spymaster, double agent and Russian defector Sergei Tretyakov America has been penetrated by Russian spies. The American mass media, politics, education and business have been "influenced" by Russian agents. There are those who are so damaged within themselves, that they seek the destruction of their own country. And so, the problem of confronting Russia's war preparations entails a larger problem. It is a problem we cannot deal with. It is the problem of a large and emotionally committed fifth column of deluded individuals. Poisonous ideas have wormed their way into our system, so that the enemy's ideology has become the catechism of the coming generation. -JR Nyquist

But there's a semi comfortable and safe source of income available: government jobs! But it comes at the cost of your actions and beliefs being monitored by the government, allowing them more control over your livelihood. These jobs will let you to barely scrape by and survive, it's by no means a guarantee of a stable future, meaning you'll be in deep shit again without it. The biggest thing that these arson and graffiti are trying to accomplish is a kind of international astroturfing. For those unfamiliar with the term, it’s a play on the term grass roots activism. Grass roots activism refers to a kind of spontaneous, bottom-up, social movement that emerges at the local community level and are usually self-organized by local community members instead of professional activists. Astroturfing is when a movement tries to give the appearance of this but is actually sponsored and coordinated by an external actor. We’ve seen a lot of this in US politics in recent years with people being paid by companies and groups to give coached or outright fabricated testimony at local government meetings. In this case, Russia is trying to convince European politicians that there is domestic opposition to support for Ukraine where none might exist.

It's probably the kind of a product that's easy to get funding for in US Congress where relics of the past call the shots. To be fair, I think Russian response to it wasn't much better. Though it apparently got some western Intel officers on the side of the good, I guess? As to the superior story-telling, that's kind of true though not to a huge extent. And not in all the genres. @Hebdomad7 Good, that means their pr dpt knows what's up and are not sleeping like some secret services in Europe (just some). I knew it's not a new idea, as they do it because it works. Even Ukrainians do that, as you can see on Volodymir Zolkin chanell, where Dima repeatedly turns to viewers asking for Russia's informants and internal saboteurs to defect or people point them out for money. Ukraine is paying with lives for these spies and other agents, just they can offer just a fraction of the money stipulated by CIA here.

The water turned out to be _not_ contaminated. It is perfectly possible though that the holes in those fences are in fact part of an operation to spread fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Being in possession of a wire cutter isn't very suspicious and using it to cut a hole into a fence would be much less risky for an operative than actually entering the facility and using chemicals or biological agents (which have to come from somewhere, means to get them is very suspicious) to actually contaminate the water source, while still having an effect.

Thank you for the laugh. BTW if you need proof readers I use to proof read and would help you, but that might cheat someone else from a good laugh. My country (Switzerland) is neutral too - like Austria - and has very, very strong relationships with many dictators - including Russia. We maintain even the Russian General Suvorov monument in the Schöllenen gorge. Since 1933, when the Austrian art painter took power, my country lives on breaking Embargos, laundering money from big and small dictators, dealing with important ressources and providing banking services for everybody. And we provide home and shelter to foreign spies. Therefore, we became the Tangier of the 21th century. Everybody knows about, most countries use our hospitality for spies and look away, when they conduct hostile operations against other countries. We are neutral. @@Daokl As mentioned, neutrality of Switzerland is of political, financial and ethical nature only. Since the Washington-treaty, dated 5/25/1946 (original text listed under Ref. SR 0.982.1), we gave some sovereignty in the field of military and intelligence to the USA - for a sound discount in refunding illegal war profits. The so called Crypto-scandal is a result of this treaty, as the Gretag/Omnisec never-be-a-scandal, the Tinner-scandal, or the forced (!) purchase of the F-11, F-18 and F-35. The F-35 as a flying datacenter has no military value for us, because units of our army are not linked by electronic means. And our government imposed exactly as much sanctions against Russia, as we evaded being sanctioned ourselves. However, my government issued a timely warning to all Russian oligarchs to put away their money.

@@debrainwashersaying that someone is in some sense law-abiding, because when ordered to rob houses they notified tenants, so that valuables could be moved out (and then still robbed them) - is quite a lot less impressive argument than you think it is. In September 2018 there was an explosion at a Rheinmetall facility just outside of Cape Town, South Africa. Eight employees were killed. It was apparently caused by a "failure to conduct the risk assessment when installing a new iris valve which is deemed as the modification by the employer”. Local authorities decided not to prosecute Rheinmetall, and the Dept of Labour decided not to make their report on the incident public. In November 2021 a fire broke out at the same facility . Fortunately nobody was injured. Apparently it was caused by an electrical fault in a light fitting, which caused melted material from a light fitting to fall onto and ignite stored material. Although the facility is still in operation, there is a groundswell of local negative sentiment towards the facility and calls from various parties to shut it down. Coincidence? I think not!

Yes, but the thing is: Nobody is interested in an actual hot war with Russia. So unless Russian operations reach a point where they create significant political pressure for a military response, they will be accepted. Those btw works in both directions: While the official stance of NATO is to not send troops into Ukraine, it is very likely that special forces from NATO countries are present there, yet Russia hasn't used this (yet) to justify direct military action against those countries, even though "being at war with NATO" is a central myth of Russian propaganda.

I think the characterization in the video of the leaked secret call in Germany is a bit inaccurate. Basically, it seems that one participant, who was in Singapore at the time, used a compromised computer, allowing the Russians to record him (as implied by some random Windows system sounds being very present in the leaked video). Importantly, it seems that the Russians only accidentally stumbled upon the "juicy" information about Taurus. Also, (at least officially), the decision not to send Taurus was already made at that time (although I suppose one can argue that this made it more difficult to publicly reverse the decision at a later date). Also, the German defense minister made a public statement in protection of the involved soldiers, with the implication that he is strongly against "sacrificing his best men to manipulative Russian games", so importantly: The 'hacked' call likely had no detrimental effect on German support for Ukraine, as all official statements are very clear on that. There are also some other interesting, although, minor details. Specifically, it appears that the situation was not the result of one "single major slipup", but instead a combination of multiple, but by itself rather minor, slipups: - Someones notebook was apparently compromised (very likely the person in Singapore). - The call itself only had the classification of "confidential" rather than "secret", so overall relatively few precautions against (potential) hacks were done. As in: There might be some issues with the guidelines on what to classify as "secret" and what as "confidential" (but since the talk did not include any *actually* sensitive information, it wasn't necessarily bad judgment to classify the call as only "confidential") - There might have been some usability issues with the encryption software (and perhaps some security shortcomings as well, but that part is unproven, or not public knowledge, afaik - imho most people who blamed the software were just looking for something to blame).

At the risk of saying something unpopular, it seems fair that any nation should have an opportunity to destroy weapons that are being sent, to be used against that nation. I mean, has the USA ever faced charges in an international criminal court for its actions against the "Ho Chi Minh Trail?" Same thing, isn't it? The USA hit the Ho Chi Minh trail in Cambodia and Laos a LOT harder than Russia is hitting any stash locations in Europe. Bottom Line - It was fair game for the USA to try to disrupt the flow of weapons and soldiers along the Ho Chi Minh trail, even when that trail was outside of Vietnam. It's fair game for Russia to try to disrupt the flow of weapons sent to be used against Russia. Anything else is hypocrisy! edit - I don't actually support Russia. I just HATE hypocrisy and when it comes to war, there's a LOT of hypocrisy going around. For example - At the end of WWII, only Germany and Japan had to face ANY kind of repercussions for war crimes. Even though the USSR, the USA and the UK were up to their necks in the blood of innocents, having knowingly committed numerous war crimes against the Germans/ Japanese, no one ever had to face any accountability for their actions.
