IM waiting for someone to comment “wOrlDs StRoNgEsT mAn PuLlS cOnVeNtIoNaL”. While that’s true, they r built to do conventional and it’s a different competition. Sumo is simply easier because of decreased ROM
@literallyjustanegg4552
@literallyjustanegg4552 3 жыл бұрын
@@muhammadbasit7644 that is not the case. Sumo is not easier than conventional due to a decreased rom. It is easier for some people due to leverages and the structure of your body. If it is uncomfortable to pull sumo, don’t, and the same goes for conventional. It requires the same force output to get the weight off the floor in either lift, which is the hardest part. Then, the extra 4 inches sumo takes off, is the easiest part, the lockout, which is almost impossible to fail during, unless you injure yourself or your grip fails. Stop complaining just because it’s a smaller rom on the surface, it’s just as hard if not harder due to the flexibility required. It may use slightly different muscle groups, but it is still a deadlift. Btw I pull conventional because I find sumo harder on my back(I’m 6’6, so my leverages are all off for it), so i have no motivation to defend something I don’t do besides educating people and sharing my opinions

The thing is deadlift is easy lift to improve on compared to bench. So if larry really focuses on improving his deadlift and fixes some technique and other things he can pull more but for bench you just can't do anything other than increasing your strength because jamal already have a very efficient bench technique its just his pressing power that holds him back. imo if larry and jamal both get good amount of time and prepare for same goal then larry gonna take it. Jamal is fantastic but his deadlift compensates for his bench while his squat is ok but in larry case his bench pushes his overall total while his squat being great and deadlift need improvement and deadlift is a easy lift to improve out of SBD.

At the end you were talking about what his max lifts would be if he kept improving and gained weight, but I think you underestimated his squat by just predicting it at 800+. To be honest, I think that’s the lift where he’ll put the _most_ weight on his total (definitely more than deadlift). He’s done 770 in competition and an easy 800 in training, so he’s basically already at where you’ve predicted. IMO 850-900 is a very reasonable estimate for Jamals squat in the distant future. Here’s why: -squat is always improved by gaining weight. It’s no wonder deadlift records plateau at mid 200 on weight classes, but squats records just keep going up. -larry put 100 lbs on his squat (770 to 870) from when he broke the 242 record to breaking the 308 record. Literally the same progression could happen for Jamal because their starting positions are identical (242 record, 770 squat) Also, predicting 500 for bench is a slight underestimate because bench is well correlated to body weight and he’s already done 475 in competition. I’d put his bench at a weight class or two higher at 525
@MRmOnThER322
@MRmOnThER322 4 жыл бұрын
Larry's squat didn't go to 770 to 870 just for his weight gain, you have to take into consideration that he was just 21 years old when he took the 242 record. Strenght tends to increase a good amount when approaching late 20s while cycling and training hard.
@OneDerscoreOneder

P Holmes the 242 record belongs to Jamal, but I think the 275 record might still be his. It’s not about setting records at this point, it’s just he’s not quite lived up to his potential in any of the sports. At first he thought he could be a “power builder”, ended up fucking up both his powerlifting meet and his bodybuilding show. He tried strongman, did pretty well then gave up. Now he’s onto arm-wrestling, all the while still training half-assedly for powerlifting. A man cannot be everything, I just hope he picks one thing and sticks with it. Idk, I pull basically equal weight on both with a slightly better conventional. The sport is how much weight can you lift. If someone has better leverage with a specific form let them use it. It's not like everyone squats or benches the same either, it's just always the deadlift were people have a problem.
