He has a hundred lbs on his conventional from sumo, on an already world-class weight. I'd say his opinion is somewhat valid. His deadlift is 950 lbs, not 1,050 lbs.

To be fair, he did 950 on pound plates i believe and the strongmen who pull 1000+ don't get stronger deadlifts linearly with bodyweight, as you get bigger your leverages get really weird.. For example Jesus Olivares, being as big as he is, makes his lockout much more difficult even though he has all the strength and more to get it speedy off the floor Edit: he used calibrated plates actually!

@@ryancox3834 when they pull sumo you can see it. Larry can't replicate the technique. When the bar leaves the floor for Jamal he's ridiculously upright and hips stay over the bar... being able to do that is largely genetic.

Lb for lb is for manlets. Lift the most weight to be considered the strongest, period. I don't mind someone being the strongest in a weight class, but don't claim anything else. John Haack is amazing for his weight classes, but he can't hold a candle to the SHW class. I think lb for lb argument comes from Hollywood tropes of the over-common "underdog" that we see far too often in media. It's actually surprisingly rare, and almost never happens legitimately. I also despise the concept of an underdog. The hypothetical situation for them has to be perfect in order to "beat the buzzer".

@@A-A-RonDavis2470 What the fuck are you talking about? Weight class is the reason why literally anyone can have a chance to compete. Remove weight class and you'll end up with only a few 400lbs fat dudes competing just like strong man before they started including more endurance events. For me, a 240lbs guy that can lift 1050lbs is much stronger than a 440lbs guy lifting 1100lbs. If you're 250lbs and can lift 20lbs more than a 150lbs 14 years old boy, don't brag about it.
