When Kate Waring vanished, the police assumed she had ran off and there was nothing suspicious. However, her family felt different and hired private investigators. That would eventually led them to one of Kate Waring's best friends, and a mysterious encounter she had on a train.

Watch who you talk to while traveling. As a 71 year old woman who has traveled alone since I was 20, I’m friendly but careful. EG Don’t give your last name or contact info to a casual acquaintance. Don’t go anywhere private with someone like their hotel room. There are many nice people out there and some may become friends, there are also unbalanced people looking for a woman alone to victimize in some way. Sadly nice people like Kate who think the best of people often end up experiencing the worst.

Records from the South Carolina Historical Society show that the Warings arrived to America in the 1600s. Joseph Hall Waring owned Pine Top Plantation in Dorchester County, according to information from the College of Charleston. He served as a state senator in 1865, and fought for the 4th Regiment South Carolina Cavalry of the Confederate Army. The Warings went to become a prominent family in the Lowcountry as politicians, fire and police chiefs, doctors, lawyers and journalists at the News and Courier. Dr. Ed West, a historian at the Summerville-Dorchester Museum, said he would not be surprised if the cabin belonged to the Warings’ slaves. Big oof in that family history. I’ve been waiting for this case to be covered. I had dinner with her parents a few weeks after she went missing, and the heartbreak was palpable. Tom knew she was gone. That’s why they got the investigators used by the best criminal attorney in town. The interview was said attorney talking to the splendidly stenciled Heather. They just wanted to be able to bury their daughter. For the people commenting on her plethora of medication, there’s a strong probability it was all prescribed by her psychiatrist. (He had me on 10 or 11 meds at one point.) Kate was a lovely, lost soul who never recovered from her childhood. She tried to rescue every creature she encountered. The last one turned out to be rabid.

I had to look up the whole 'taking blood from a 6 year old' thing. Like why would she even do that. It apparently happened here in PA, not far from me. And there is no answer to the why, except she was posing as a doctor. I'm once again angered at law enforcement brushing off a suspicious disappearance of a young woman . Sometimes when that type of thought depresses me, I remind myself that these tragedies are so shocking and make headlines, being talked about for years, because there are more decent people than there are evil. This is not the norm, so people like this stand out when they're caught, because, while there are a lot of bad people, most people are just normal, trying to get by as best they can. If the world were a complete clusterfck, these stories wouldn't be met with anger, sadness and empathy for the victims. Does that make sense? Idk, it can be hard to stay hopeful, but there is good and sometimes you have to step back to see it. Just scrolling through the comments on this video, you see so many people posting their sympathies for Kate and her family.

I moved into an apartment at 27yrs old. Finally left my parents house out in the country. I was not young, but definitely naive. Well, I accidentally witnessed a local drug dealer doing "his thing". He ended up being someone fresh out of prison on an attempted murder charge he did 11 1/2yrs for. He had saw that I had saw when I warned him about the cameras in my apartment building and to "just be more careful". He ended up home invading me, locking me in my own bedroom, occasionally assaulting me (physically and sexually) while selling his drugs out of MY apartment. When someone tells you "Whether it takes me 2hrs or 8hrs imma beat your ass to death, you gonna be on the news tomorrow b*tch!" There is NOTHING you can say or do to stop em. I begged him at one point during the hours long beating "please please, why don't you just shoot me?" His answer? "I didn't bring my gun b*tch!" then the next punch knocked me clean out. Woke up to police going through my apartment, I'm naked (he told me to get naked earlier so "you don't try to run"), and the cops start questioning me and told me to get dressed and write a a statement (but I was too delirious and covered in blood) so the cops told me to come down to the police station in a few days to write a statement. Well, I never did and didn't testify (a hit had been put out on me to make SURE I didn't "snitch"). Dude was looking at 35yrs in prison but because I didn't (really couldn't cooperate) the guy got 52 days in jail. He died not 2yrs later from a drug overdose.
