We have no idea what would have happened if Noah Lyles had been fully healthy, but frankly, I do not care; the end result was Letsile Tebogo winning the gold medal in the men's 200m, period. Tebogo's performance was a testament to his talent and determination, and he is poised to replicate his success in Paris by adding the 400m to his repertoire. I suspect he will compete in all three sprint events (100, 200, 400)and the relays (4 x 100 and 4 x 400), which would be unprecedented, but he certainly has the fitness and versatility to accomplish this. Tebogo's approach is reminiscent of the training strategies used by distance runners preparing for marathons and 10,000m races, emphasizing endurance and adaptability. Training for multiple events is a significant challenge, but Tebogo has demonstrated that this strategy can work effectively. We've seen similar success from athletes like Allyson Felix, Michael Johnson, and Gabby Thomas, who have excelled in multiple events. Congratulations to Tebogo, and we eagerly anticipate how our U.S. athletes will respond. With their proven track record, I'm confident they will rise to the occasion. Additionally, seeing some of our US 400m runners consider training for the 800m would be interesting. From experience, while the 800m requires more strategic execution, it shares similarities with the 400m in terms of pacing and endurance, potentially offering a new avenue for success. Think Athing Mu when she is healthy.

As long as Tebogo pulls up in the 200m there shall be no sweep, the sooner you learn that, the better.

I don’t thing Noah had COVID, he was just looking for an excuse after bragging before the race. I’ve watched him and I’ve never seen him clearly better than other top sprinters. He’s talented and wins sometimes but he’s not more special than others. The media (American) hype has just been putting him up high with legends cos they desperately want someone from the US to compete with Bolt’s legacy.

Neither the World Health Organization nor CDC are worried about COvid anymore especially for Noah’s age so why should Noah. And COVID is not an excuse for Noah coming in third. It was Tobogo’s time

I’m not buying the covid excuse. Being that hype and leaving in a wheelchair like paul Pierce was ridiculous. If In fact he did have covid, when did he find out?? If he knew prior to running that’s selfish as hell

Lyles is a big 27 year old man, making excuses like he’s a toddler. I can’t wait until he retires or has to stop due to injury. Track was better before him and it will be palatable again only once he’s gone.

This is why y’all have to learn lessons the hard way. A woman with 5 Olympic appearances and 4 Olympic 100m medals drops some wisdom and your retort is what did she win this year. Let’s see if Noah even makes it to a fifth Olympic Games. I doubt it.

Honestly as soon as i found out lyles new he had covid on Tuesday i was mad he put others in danger of getting covid im british and one of our swimmers got covid after the race and pulled out of his last race for me lyles should have pulled out as it's selfish and gives zero respect to others as some of those other runners in the 200 will be running the 400 and 100 relays and lyles could have made them ill then ruined there chances of racing again
