1:30 Keto adaptation symptoms
2:11 What to do to help with keto-adaptation
Today I’m going to explain how long keto-adaptation takes.
Ketosis is fat burning. You’ve been living on sugar your whole life, and now you’re switching your body to a completely different fuel source. Your cells have to build new machinery for fat and new enzymes to break down a completely different source of fuel. This takes time.
So, how long does it take to get into ketosis while fasting? If you’re already really healthy, it could happen in maybe one week. But, on average, it’s going to take about 4-6 weeks.
How do you know when you’re in ketosis?
• When you’re satisfied after you eat
• When you can go long periods of time without eating and not be hungry
• You don’t have sugar cravings anymore
• You’re more focused
• You have less brain fog
• You have a sharper memory
• Less urinating at night
In the keto-adaptation period, you might experience a few symptoms. But it’s a good thing because your body is adjusting.
Here are a few of these symptoms, and what you can do:
• Fatigue - take B5
• Cramps - take potassium
• Bloating - take bile salts
• Sleep issues - take calcium and magnesium

Yes I'm blown away by how easy it was to shed the pounds and it was all fat. Never hungry always plenty of energy and now I'm doing what I call faze two I'm implementing core exercise and some short cycling with some weight training .. I've taken pictures along the way and will do a transformation video when I hit a year on Jan 1st 2017 I'm so pissed that it has taken me until the age of 55 to figure out the Ketosis way of life, but happy I have at least found it now and should enjoy another 20 years of healthy living now..

Did you follow any specific plan or did you basically just cut out all carbs? That transformation video will be amazing, you can be proud of yourself!!

First start with a good reason to do it I wanted to loose 20 Lbs to go Para-motoring so I started to search KZbin for best ways to loose fat came across ButterBobBriggs " ( butter makes your pants fall off ) in 6 month I had 70 lbs gone total fat I started by first ( 3 weeks) removing ALL sugars and alcohols used to be a 3 drink after work day to take the edge off kind of guy..also had to have my 1 or 2 mountain due soft drinks during the day to keep up the energy. Then when I got home I would eat a good meal fortified with meat rice ,bread ,pasta or potatoes. then I had to have some real sweet dessert . after 3 weeks I removed all carbs like rice pasta potatoes and was only eating vegetables topped in bacon fat or grass fed butter and also added coconut oil along with 8 to 10 oz of fatty meats like ribs ,steak, grass fed burger ,eggs and some times I would eat fish but not often like salmon or seared Tuna . I now this all sound complicated fallow Dr Eric Bergs advise on a high fat no carb diet and give your self time use the internet like You-Tube and find out all you can also rid your house of all sugars and carbs

Thank you so much, those are very good tipps! I think my biggest problem besides bread is coffee.. well, not so much coffee itself, but I do love my lattes and I'm not so sure about all that milk :-/ I will browse some videos and then rid my house of all carbs and sugars. Wish me luck :D And, WOW, 70lbs in 6 months in INSANE, congrats!! I need to lose about 15kg (30lbs)

Brooks Built Fitness eat until you feel full. Two or three eggs, and three or four strips of bacon for breakfast, keeps you full for six hours. For lunch, a can of sardines in olive oil and maybe an avocado, keeps you full for another six. For dinner, a hamburger pattie and spinach. The fat just melts away. You never feel "hangry" again.

I'm 68 years old and have late onset asthma and environmental sensitivities plus first signs of arthritis in my thumbs. I changed gradually - lowered carbs 100g per day for a while and kept reducing them till I achieved ketosis. I don't need to lose weight as I'm 107lbs 5 foot tall. I am enjoying feeling less fatigue now and looking forward to a better future. Thank you for your help through your videos. Today for the first time in a long time I walked along the beach and it wasn't a strain. There is more healing to come as this is brand new to me, time will improve me more. Thank you!!!

@@waffle_chair9269 I found out that alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency runs in my family. It affects the lungs or liver. Years ago I was a smoker so it likely made the situation worse. Under my right rib feels full which could be my liver needing cleared out - I started intermitting fasting in January and it improved things. I listen to my body and if it feels stressed I go and eat. 12 hours make a fast and anything over that is great. 20 hours is the longest I've gone. I don't know about heavy metals as I haven't tested. My diet has been clean for many, many years. I know that doesn't give total protection. My diet has greatly improved my health.

I went into ketosis in a day of getting back on the low carb diet. I had been on it for years and lost lots of weight; then I fell into a deep depression for years, and I gained back almost all of the 120 pounds I lost. I started back on the diet last Saturday; by Sunday I was in low-level ketosis; by Tuesday, I was in large ketosis. I can taste the ketones! My body remembers! How cool is that.

Well fasting and exercising makes you burn calories and sugar more quickly so... just one corcern. I’ve heard people saying I shouldn’t work out on an empty stomach because that could dangerously lower my blood sugar levels and cause me faint away or develop some other health issues. Can anybody tell how valid that claim is?

I've been doing this for just one week and I experienced all the amazing benefits!! It's amazing how your blood sugar going up and down can mess with your balance. My focus and mental stability are much better now. I could never remember dreams and ever since I started eating those healthy fats I remember them just fine. (There have been some carb dreams though😂) I think the reason it worked so quickly is the fact that I've been dieting before so there's not that many stored carbs to burn. Even though I was losing weight by eating low fat I was never satisfied after a meal because I didn't have any fats and I was literally forcing myself not to eat. Most important thing for me was understanding that fats are not the enemy.

I'm 1 week in and my tight clothes are already fitting loser. I have been fasting as a vegetarian for years, so getting through the first threshold of withdrawals was not too challenging, but I always went back to eating junk. Not this time. Ketosis test strips indicate I have huge amounts in my body, I crave no sugar whatsoever. I eat at 12:00 noon and 6:00 pm - keeping carbs between 30-50 grams a day. I am doing intermittent fasting. I get random spikes of energy, like I could just run forever. I sleep like a baby, pop up out of bed in the morning, think faster and clearer and I feel extremely positive. I feel UP, like I just had 2 strong coffees. My energy is off the charts. No alcohol, coffee, sugar, dairy, starch, meat, or hi carbs or smoking. I feel absofuckinglutely amazing.

Sugars are a no go according the Keto diet. The first 3 days are hard with not craving food. In your case it's telling you to drink more water and it's not hunger pains. Also, your body could be craving more sugar!! Just go for salads and eggs with butter and cheese with a handful of Pecans. Deviled eggs are great for Keto and taste delicious. BAM

The first time I did a low cab diet, I lost 70lbs after starting at 305lbs. I had never been in ketosis my entire life. It took me less than a week to get into ketosis. I know this because I was using the urine ketone strips. Now, when I go back on the diet, I'm in ketosis on the 3rd or 4th day. Also, you don't have to bring your carbs/sugar down to zero. Depending on the person, you can consume between 20 and 60 grams per day. I lost my 70lbs consuming 50 grams a day sitting on my butt. If you do cardio, you can consume even more carbs. I load up on the fats day 1 because it helps cut the hunger. But YMMV. I never have aches and pains or sleep issues. I'm definitely not as sharp mentally while on the diet. I feel like I lose around 10 IQ points when I'm on the diet. I write software for a living. So sometimes this is more noticeable than other times. This time around, I don't have nearly as much brain fog for some reason. And this reprogramming/getting used to thing he's talking about. I didn't experience that at all. The first time I went on it, I had a headache for around 3 or 4 days. Then I had a fever for about 24 hours, but I felt great. After that, I felt great all the way through losing the 70lbs in 7 months. This time around, I went on the diet two weeks ago. By day 5 I felt great and still do. I sometimes get ketone breath. But usually not. My advice is this: stick to it. eat fresh, natural stuff. don't cheat. know how many carbs there are in everything you eat. drinks lots of water. and take a multi-vitamin. eat food based on quality and carb content, not what it costs. It's going to cost more. But you'll more than make up for it in the long term because you'll be eating less food. And you recoup the food costs on medical costs later. oh, and expect to replace all your clothes. :-) Give yourself a reward for reaching your goal. For me, it's fitting in the size pants I wore in high school.

It only takes me a few days to get into ketosis. Becoming fat adapted is a different story. Took me weeks to become fat adapted, but, I eliminated certain things before starting keto. Some people takes a little longer depending on what they're eating. I eat very simple and strict keto and I don't do a whole lot of veggies. Just enough and some days I do no carbs at all. To get back into ketosis after a non keto meal or what some call cheat meal, or, maybe a few cocktails, I fast. I do a fat fast or bone broth fast. Fasting mimicking diet works well too and since I'm fat adapted I think its easier for me to go in and out of ketosis easily.

I started keto 14 days ago. Even though I feel like I have only lost one lbs (on scale) my waist has shrank .5 inch and my baby pouch has gone down an inch after so effing long. I went through the keto flu and had headaches for like 5 days and then I was golden. I only have 15 pounds to loose so perhaps that’s the differences I’m seeing. I really switched because I realized I am gluten intolerant and have carb sensitivity. No sweets craving whatsoever. If anyone craves bread I highly suggest almond or flaxseed bread for keto. If you miss roti or tortilla the best I found was flaxseed ones. You can use them as wraps as well. 6 inches diameter and they are about 1.3 carbs each. Which is amazing considering the same whole wheat tortilla or roti contains like 30 grabs carbs 😩

@shadowsabere
@shadowsabere 6 жыл бұрын
You don't really need to take vitamins if you're just starting with fasting. If you were eating a healthy diet prior to the fasting you're most likely full of minerals and vitamins and it would take months before you start lacking some. The fatigue and all the side effects are usually not due to deficiency of some sort but because it's been years since you fasted.. or you probably never did, and it will take some time for your metabolism to start working effectively.

hey, I'm sure you realize how incredibly dire stage 4 colon cancer and liver cancer is. I don't think Dr can or will reply as 1 he's only a chiropractor and 2 he hasn't evaluated you in person. when I first read your post I thought ketosis as treatment was unlikely but then I read this thetruthaboutcancer.com/ketogenic-diet-weakens-cancer-cells/ it's interesting. and then how cancer cells have 10 times insulin receptors so they can gorge themselves on sugar. it also said ppl with high blood sugar have highest mortality rate. if you have type 1 diabetes then you don't produce any insulin right? sounds like ketosis would lessen need to inject as much insulin. why don't you ask your endocrinologist about insulin usage on ketosis (the guy prescribing you insulin). I'll say prayer for you

I do not use any sugar or carb, only green veggies and took all supplements you said. Sometimes my heart rate suddenly rises and I can hear my heart biting. During the night I feel better, but in morning I am just dizzy. I just lost 1 or 2 pounds in a month. I eat just healthy foods and organic, do not drink or smoke. I found that if you have been in ketosis for a while, say a week or more, you can slip in a sugary snack and not get knocked out of ketosis. As long as you do it all at once, you'll be fine (except you'll feel like hell because of the sugar rush, then the belly ache and crash). Good example: Your eating great, you've been solidly in ketosis for 7 days. On day 8 you decide to have some ice cream at 2:00, then right back on the keto foods. You probably won't stop ketosis. Bad example: same thing, but you have ice cream at 2:00, then at 3:30 you have a slice of pizza, and then at 5:00 you have some more pizza. Then you go back on the keto foods. That will bump you out of ketosis for at least 24-36 hours. I know this from experimenting and close monitoring with the ketone strips.

Thank you Dr Berg. I watched your videos, I bought the Adrenal pack with your book and I am losing fat without going hungry. I am adapting my favourite recipes to be healthy so I don't have to change my lifestyle too much. I use Instagram a lot and there was a sponsored advert on there for "5 foods to avoid if you want to lose fat": it led to a video that was WAY too long and most comments said they gave up. I left a comment to tell everyone to visit KZbin and watch your videos! I hope to get back to 7.5 stone which is what I always weighed before my hysterectomy and I am sure I will get there. But even if I don't I know my clothes fit so much better and I'm not tired and I'm not hungry. And it's all because of your information so thank you again.

For me it was easiest to make one myself - the problem with eating plans are they are often complicated and no very often suited for your on taste - so i found myself not sticking to it. so my tips would be: easy trumps all - prep your veggies 2 twice a weak and store them. then just prep/cook/steam...them with a good fat and easy fat source (example olive oil for salads, coconut oil/butter to fry it) and so on. so a day for me looks like - bacon and eggs for breakfast, full fat meat or fish with veggies for lunch(cooked meal) and a quick salad with tuna... (cold) for dinner.... if you vary your ingredients for this its pretty easy to get a basic framework on which you could build on. The better/easier the framework the easier it is to stick to it in my experience... Good luck and Have fun :)

I'm about as unhealthy as they come. I was in ketosis in 3 days roughly. Ketosis literally starts the moment your body has cleared out all the sugar on deck. Depending on how far along your insulin resistance is, this could take a day, or a week. The answer is staring us in the face. *Stop eating carbs* and your body will naturally roll over into ketosis rather quickly.

I have no idea if I'm in ketosis (presumably not based on your vid) but I've lost a pound per day, feel great and have lots of energy for working out.I felt this by day 2 or 3. Granted I've probably lost mostly water weight, but I already feel much better, full of enough energy to take on the world. I was about 14-15 pounds overweight for my height, 15 more pounds to go for my end goal of about 5 lbs less than that (the weight I personally felt healthiest at). More importantly, I've always HATED running. Yesterday, I actually enjoyed it. It felt great. I actually want to work out now. After just 5 days my waistline is starting to shrink already. The pants that were very hard to button in the top of the closet are now snug, and the snug pants now fit comfortably. Feeling motivated for the first time in about 8 years, when I used to be able to run half-marathons (however grudgingly).
