Teeth whitening is a popular choice, but it's important to understand the process. Great video for breaking down the options. I wonder if you've compared long-term effects of different methods? Looking forward to more insights.

Thanks a lot for the detailed instructions! Just a quick question -- is it okay if I can taste the gel whilst using the trays? I'm using 6% hydrogen peroxide. I was careful not to overfill, just wondered if I should be concerned

Hi, tasting a little of the gel is normal while wearing the trays.

I’m on day 7 of using a 22% Carbamide Peroxide whitening treatment. I apply it once or twice daily, leaving it on for 1.5 to 2 hours each time. I’ve noticed some results, but the whitening effect is only slightly noticeable. I want my teeth to be as white as my T-shirt. Can I continue this whitening process for at least 3 weeks without risking damage to my enamel?
@VeryNiceSmileDentalАй бұрын
Hi you can use it longer than 2 weeks but be aware that not everybody's teeth can get that white. Some people can only achieve that color with porcelain veneers.

What about 22% Carbonide peroxide? Is it same amount of time as the 20%

Yes.

Hi, super video ! I applied too much gel in the tray and whitened the top of my teeth as well as the back. Then I adjusted to apply it only in the front. Is that an issue?
@VeryNiceSmileDentalАй бұрын
One time shouldn't cause a problem.

@@VeryNiceSmileDental Thanks ! It's just wasting product or any risk to whiten parts that are not supposed to ?

Will the gel damage dental retainers? I have clear/plastic retainers.
@VeryNiceSmileDentalАй бұрын
Hi, it shouldn't but ask your dentist or orthodontist to be safe.

Hiya, I’ve just finished my Invisalign and now onto my retainers which I just wear at night. My dentist has provided me a free teeth whitening kit which he told me to use at just night time when I go sleep. But I’ve got a lot of saliva and keep wanting to spit. It’s my first time trying tonight. How long until I will see a difference?
@VeryNiceSmileDental6 ай бұрын
Hi, you can swallow your spit. The trays should hold the whitening gel against your teeth. Most people will notice a difference in the color of their teeth after a couple of days of using the whitening.

Hello doctor, I apologize for my English. I have a question, I got 7 front crowns color bl3 (my doctor insisted that they were too white but I wanted that color anyway), turns out he was right 🙈, now they are cemented and I can’t do much about it, is it possible somehow to make them a little bit more yellow (to match at least a little my natural teeth)? I don’t care if it’s a temporary solution, I’m planning to redo everything in a couple of years anyway. Thank you very much!
@VeryNiceSmileDental6 ай бұрын
Hi, no the only way to change the color of the porcelain crowns is to replace them. I talk about it more in this video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKvJiYd5nbKWaK8

I accidentally wore my opalescence Carbonide Peroxide 10% for two months. Is this damaging to my teeth?

I've had patients with tetracycline staining who had to use the whitening trays daily for several months to whiten their teeth. I've also had a couple of patients over do the whitening. The incisal edges of their front teeth ended up becoming clear.

I'm using the teeth whitening tray. I've noticed it's making the tips of some teeth very white, and my teeth now look worse. Will this rectify itself, I've only done this for 3 days.
@VeryNiceSmileDental4 ай бұрын
Hi, I have noticed this when I whiten my own teeth. It usually evens out a few days later. Have your dentist take a look to make sure everything is going as planned.

Hi Dr Rich, how long do you think should be fine for me to wear them as a course? I'm doing 22% CP, started out at about 30-60 mins a day because what the website of the gel recommended was 30, but now at about 1.5 hrs a day which seems to work better, slightly more sensitivity when eating afterwards but nothing unbearable. I do hope 1.5-2 hours will be fine though and not damage anything long term. Now, here's what im really wondering - I've probably done about 10 days, a little different each day just to test, and I've gone a day without whitening twice in these 10 uses. What I'm wondering is, how long can I keep whitening? For instance, on the gel website they say 14 days, or uses, and 2 weeks/14 days is mostly what I hear, think I've heard 3 weeks once. But if I still wanted more whitening, since I've never done it before and I have/had smoker and coffee drinker stains, could I go a little longer, continue whitening each day for say 4 weeks in a row? If not, how long would I have to wait without the trays until its safe to whiten further? Please let me know your thoughts, thank you.

Hi, most people do well with a two week course of whitening. Some people with more staining need to whiten longer. I have had patients with tetracycline staining use the whitening for several months. Speak with your dentist since they know your particular situation.
