I use the F3800 to power my house and it does so for 2-3 hours as long as I don't use the AC, dryer, stove, or oven. This is fine for most outages but for extended outages, I have a Westinghouse outdoor generator and while using it, I can recharge the F3800 in about 2 hours. It's nice to be able to give the generator and our neighbors a break every couple of hours. Thanks for making such great videos and helping us DIY guys.

My Honda Suitcase generator is so quiet that it’ll never bother the neighbors and will run 8-9 hours on a fill up. By far, the best generator out there and it’s clean power.

Very cool. Especially if it’s snowing outside and running a generator is difficult. Great video!

If you're away from your house and the power goes out, you won't have internet for the Anker to send a notification or for you to access it unless you also have your router/modem on power backup too AND the internet stays up, which in your demonstration means another power supply. However, every time my power's gone out the internet's out in the area too.

Appreciate you brother! Big fan of the channel. Perfect! So worst case 24 hours of power during a deep freeze (along with a 2200 watt inverter generator) is the perfect furnace set up. Using these types of units will give you time to get that generator ready if things last longer or get real. Even my wife and kid can keep things going until I get home if needed. IMHO there is no battery solution that will last a week without running around with panels or generators. This is perfect for the majority of the time we have outages. Gonna pull the trigger on one this BF season!

Nice! That is much cheaper than a whole house gen set. Granted it is not the same wattage output but that is an easy solution to keep the heat on in winter during power outages.

That Anker unit looks awesome but $2400 is fairly expensive. I built a 280ah 3500watt storage battery for $1200, another $300 for a 3000 watt inverter and lithium charger so $1500 total but, I can add additional batteries for $1200 would total $2700 for a 7000 watt system or $3900 for a 10kw system. Just powering your heater & refrigerators will require about 6kw-7kw per day so I’d invest in storage batteries, a generator & solar panels before a solar generator but all the bells & whistles the Anker offers sure are tempting.

Could you give me some pointers? I'm interested in doing a very very very small build to try out for my garage and greenhouse (super tiny). But I get overwhelmed because 1. I don't want to touch my garage roof and deal with permits or my electrical company 2. I want to get a handle on this before trying something big. My use case would be something like .. heating and lighting for a small (4x5 greenhouse) and the same for my garage (detached). Okay... I admit it. I want to be able to keep some of my plants in my garage during the winter. But I do need a way to power light and heat. The garage has power but I am interested in an off grid solution for the plants. It would probably be a small heating source/led grow lights - probably between 24-36 watts and probably about 4 bulbs. My goal temp would be about 60 F and the worst temps in my area would be low teens and single digits. So something like a 50 degree differential. Sorry for the huge comment. I'm just intrigued by your solution.

Some great prices on power stations this week for Black Friday. This Solix F3800 is 40% off list. The Ecoflow Delta 2 that I paid 799 for a couple of years ago is 399. I use the D2 as a buffer for a quiet Honda 3000 watt inverter generator. With 13 gallons of gas on hand have an effective 55 kWh. Another alternative is add 2 100Ah 12V lithium batteries in series and feed the solar input of the power station with 25V. I see a 2-pack going for $300. That would add 2500Wh to the D2 for a total of 3500Wh for total of $700. You would need to add a lithium battery charger plus some cables and a XT60 solar input cable.

Yeah, that looks like a pretty small furnace. Could be for a 2 ton. It could be on a variable speed, but most furnaces keep the blower on highest capacity due to overheat trip potential if not enough cfm.

Awesome real world test for how long it’ll run your furnace. It would be a cool comparison to see how many minutes it would run a heat pump lol. Seeing how long a residential fridge would run be great information though if you wanted to run that test.

What's the BTU size on this furnace? It looks kinda small. Is it a single stage or 2 stage? I venture to guess if its running on stage 2, the blower motor is going to use alot more energy so it won't last as long. Also, if its 25 degree's outside and your power goes out and you have a large temp differential, your furnace could run for a couple hours straight. Too many external variables influence how long it will last.

At minute 8 it looks like the power could flow back into the grid because the switch is on the normal position?
@BradBennet-md4tv
@BradBennet-md4tv 11 күн бұрын
No. The unit is not plugged in to the furnace at all. at min 8. He is describing a scenario where you could leave the switch on generator. And plug the machine in to a regular outlet. Then it would work automatically in a power outage. Even if it was connected. The switch disconnects internally. That’s it’s job. Unless the switch fails. there is no way it would happen.

Proper install is best they all make great furnaces. Make sure you get a 4 inch media and pull air from the side and bottom of the furnace with a riser before the evaporator coil. I would check who has the most suppliers in the area. In the case that it goes out you'll know parts are available. Lennox is not great to deal with as a contractor.

I have an estimate for each brand that are within $1,000 of each other with 10 year parts and labor warranty. Just wanted to know the best most reliable brand of the 3. I know regardless I won’t have to worry the first 10 years.

68°F ?! Hell, we don’t run that high even when the power is on. 66°F feels like a luxury setting. For extended outages we have the gas generator standing by to recharge the battery unit. We have a Goal Zero 1500x.

YO! Great vid as usual, Dave! Viewers--Please be aware that SOME of these lithium battery power stations require that the green EZ Generator Transfer Switch used here MUST have the neutral wired to accommodate the power station. No big deal--a 5 min job with two wires. Kevin--inventor/owner of EZ Generator Switch explains: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYfFhop5eNljepY I had my EZ Generator Switch installed on my nat gas furnace for an externa; gasoline powered generator and when I bought a portable power station and plugged in into the switch like a gas powered generator--NOTHING WORKED! Reason being: the old "bonded" versus "floating" neutral issue. An electrical circuit cannot have two independent neutrals. Had a Winter storm here in the Midwest's 'fly-over' country and power went out. I elected to use my lithium battery power station. Plugged it into the EZ Generator switch--nothing happened! Re=wired the EZ switch as per Kevin's YT--all's well now. NOTE: your nat gas furnace requires just a few ounces of nat gas pressure--even nat gas left in the lines during a power outage is enough to run your furnace and heat your home. Have no fears about running out of nat gas--YOU WON'T! You need the AC power to your furnace's inducer (evacuator of fumes) motor and main blower motor. CHEERS! an 80 y/o Farmer in Ohio's hills
