You're forgetting the biggest reason Lucid sales have remained relatively low - MAINTENANCE. Lucid is better than Tesla because they're flying too close to the sun with uncorked motors, more expensive higher energy density batteries with smaller buffers, and literally everything optimized/engineered with basically cost-no-option. They're extremely expensive to repair and their service network is pitiful. Tesla on the other hand actually wants to mass produce their vehicles and make a profit while doing it. Despite that, the product is actually still really, really good. So far, nobody else on the planet is doing that Tesla is doing with only BYD coming close (*with strong Chinese government backing).

Lucid able to use better materials and other premium in their cars, such as costlier electronics, suspension, etc. This is possible when the cost isn't the concern. Lucid competes with the already established brands, like Mercedes, BMW, Audi, etc. If Lucid could outlast them... would still have difficulty making profits. At over $95k+... market size is too small.

You don;t need that range but it's nice to have. Also, it may give a faster charge time if you only need to charge from 5-10% to 50 or 60% (200+mi of range) if the charging curve is "normal" i.e higher at the begining through middle of the pack. This is based on the thinking that 450mi range is not needed and 250 - 300 miles of range is enough.

I don't believe they are very similar at all. The Lucid Gravity seems to be designed as a serious family vehicle with a lot of thought given to how it owners will use it and what they want and need. The Cybertruck is more of a fashion statement on wheels larping as a truck. Most of the people who buy them wants something that they think will look cool. Depending on who you talk to it's either a piece of junk or something that works better than you'd think. I doubt it works as well as an F-150 Lightning, to say nothing of the Gravity.

On that point of Rivian having much more success with the R1S over R1T. Telo, I really think that your target users of work vehicles in cities would use your van over pickup. Sliding doors are so much more practical with traffic, parked next to other cars, seat or gear access, etc. I think the flat nose will be more accepted as a van compared to trucks because we are just more used to it. I believe that people will be less concerned about towing (and therefore more easily impressed) whereas that is being a requirement for a pickup. Really consider fast tracking the van before the pickup.

There are some similarities. And while the CT is and can do truck stuff it's pretty much a people mover. I think they could continue to offer or retire the X and redesign the CT into a Cyber SUV or Cyber Overlander, raise the rear section to include a 3rd row "human size" seat area. It will shorten the back area but given its current length it will still have enough rear cargo area. The difference now is sales. As impressive as the Silverado EV, Sierra EV and the Lucid Gravity are on range over the CT the question is are these vehicles gonna sell enough to be profitable...even though the Silverado EV and Sierra are trucks that look like traditional trucks and the Gravity is a great SUV when it comes to range and specs. BUT WAIT...... They have similarities in that they are both expensive 4 door luxury vehicles for the rich. They serve different purposes but like most cars there is some overlap in demographics of their buyers. However, their functions are clearly different. The Cybertruck is an oversized sports car trying to be truck, while the Lucid Gravity is a luxury SUV. The Cybertruck is a far less practical show piece ment to attract attention to yourself that under delivered on its promises and has very cheap interior. The Lucid Gravity is far more practical, will not draw attention to yourself, is much more luxurious, and for the price is a far better value. Lower the price by more than half, replace the carpeted floors in the interior with an easier to clean rubberized material, and the Lucid Gravity would be a great family vehicle for the average person that would draw way more people into the EV market than the Cybertruck.

An SUV needs 450 miles. The Cybertruck doesn't. They buy SUVs to carry people long distances comfortably. You don't take trucks on road trips unless it can't be avoided. The range extender is meant for trailers. Edge case that do warrant permanent battery extenders. Once V4 charges become ubiquitous. The extender will not be needed. Lucid has good tech. But, if they can't make it cheaper and sell the tech to other manufacturers. It's not going Stop them from losing money. Tesla could sell their castings, software, and powertrain to Ford and it would make Ford profitable right now. That's Tesla's advantage. 😅

Even if that style, high clearance vehicle would mean a 280mile range- I still think it would be the way to go & viewed as an around town vehicle (not the road tripper). True first to market in that segment- no EV maker has yet reached it. Lucid’s efficiency could be argued as the only company that could have done it. Big miss.
