***** Also, Zod is a very spiteful man. He shot one of the Kryptonian Elders in the face just because she (reasonably) asked about what authority he thought he had. Then he tried to kill Jor El because Jor El did not want to join him, then *did* kill him when he got his ass kicked by him and lost the codex (with a cheap backstab). Zod always did what he thought was best, *even when he was wrong*, morally or rationally.. That was basically his defining character trait.

And again, the solar radiation still would've given them powers, it was only the disorienting effects of sight and sound they would have problems with. Jor El specifically tells Zod he doesn't have to kill the humans or change Earth's atmosphere, Zod doesn't care, and he doesn't want his people to have to go through what Kal El did. And speaking of Zod's people, again, you're missing the point of his defining trait, that Jor El points out at the beginning of the movie. *He* thinks that *he* knows whats best for his people, so *he* decides. Get it? He's a dictator! It wouldn't have mattered if his people objected, he would have done what he wanted, and if he'd succeeded, he would've created the same flawed, arrogant, eugenic Krypton as before! Well, since we're just having fun making up our own endings to movie's problems, why don't we just go ahead and do it for every movie that's been out in the last few years: Why didn't Cobb from Inception just cooperate with the police in his wife's suicide? Why did the Joker randomly choose to start wreaking havoc in Gotham for no good reason? Why didn't Loki just be a nice child? He would've gotten the throne anyways because of how brash Thor was. If Hydra had infiltrated SHIELD all this time, why didn't they kill Nick Fury before he could assemble the Avengers? Why is a ventilation shaft the only thing stopping the Death Star from blowing up? ^You can come up with an alternate solution to just about anything, which is why it is not a legitimate critique of the film. Because that suggests that every film from now on should only follow the most logical and reasonable path and villains should only be villains as long as they are reasonably justified for being villainous. Do you even realize how stupid that is?

It just occurred to me that the phantom-drive plan only worked in the film, because Zod had his people turn on their phantom drive (which is usually only activated when making FTL jumps) and tie it to the World Engine. So when both activated phantom drives collided, it created the singularity and sucked them in. So the idea in this video would not have worked, but still very funny. lol

Man of steel is the only movie in which a people actually die in such a catastrophic event,i mean in avengers every single person comes back alive. it's like kids show,even coulson didn't die. MOS is more realistic than avengers where new york is filled with so many aliens attacking all over the place and not a single blood is spilled anywhere. in the end Superman makes a hard descision whether to kill his only last person from his planet or save the innoccent. the way he screamed in the end,everything was so perfect.

His restraint is the one reason Supermans infinite power is bearable for humanity. If Zod had given him the option to give his life for earths safety, he would have taken it. Restraint in violence was always part of Superman's character, particularly with bad guys who were less powerful then him. The thing was, after Zod's ship was destroyed, Zod said he had no purpose left in life, so all he had left was to destroy humanity "one by one." He said this explicitly to Superman. Yet, all they did for 10 minutes was bop each other around, in some large-scale action shots. During the fight, Zod tells him either Superman is going to die, or he is. Yet, they kept fighting for another several minutes, bopping each other around. It was obvious that Superman had no way to restrain him, or get him to stop. I thought it was senseless. When Superman killed him, I thought, "Finally!" I think the excuse was valid from the premise of the story that Cal was growing into his role as a hero, and he didn't want to kill anybody, but the movie didn't express his struggle with himself during the conflict. He struggled with it afterwards, and I could feel that. I guess it went back to what Faora-Ul said to Superman, that he lacked confidence, and his morality was holding him back. It was only when Zod threatened the life of some humans (though when I viewed the shot, I thought the people had a means to escape) that he finally did what he had to do.

+christianrapper -- At least in the pilot for the 1950s TV show Adventures of Superman, Jor-El explained it was only a prototype never meant to carry people. Jor-El had planned on building a full scale ship but Krypton was dying faster than he had calculated. The reason Kal-El was put in it was he was the only person small enough to fit in it.

Another alternate ending: Kryptonians: "Instead of sending all of the criminals into space with this giant spaceship where they'll survive and we die, why don't we go into space instead to survive and leave them to die?" Seriously that's the biggest plot hole for me, they knew the planet was being destroyed when they sent Zod and his group away, and even if they all stayed there (meaning they didn't send Zod away) they all would have died, Zod included, and all of this whole alien invasion could have been avoided.

I thought so too until I just saw The Amazing Spider-man 2. It is the best representation of a comic book super hero I have seen yet! And the movie was amazing.. it was just so enjoyable, plenty of action, with some of awesome spidey's lines, and then the emotion and story just went along nicely. I did not feel bored at all! :) They should totally let spidey in the cafe now :P

I love the movie too. I also thin k it's the best Superman film up to date. There is one problem. The film has Superman fighting Zod in the middle of Metropolis. Everybody who has read the comics or about superman knows that his number one rule when fighting against villains is that, if possible, lead them to an unpopulated area. Superman could have easily lead Zod away and into some desert or something to fight, rather than endangering the lives of millions.

Kewlausgirl I was happy they rebooted the series, and the 1st was good, but the 2nd felt like they were juggling Villains. The take on Electro was cool, but the other two were done wrong. The actor did well as Harry Osborn, but (spoiler alert!) transforming him suddenly at the end into the Green Goblin because of a mix of some BS disease + the spider Venom was lame. The Green Goblin is one of the biggest Spider-Man villains and either deserved to be the main villain or have his own movie. Plus the Rhino looked like a Transformer.

+KurLz I know, and I do believe Zod would get his powers faster, but not that faster. He still needs the solar energy to get those powers. He'd have to spend at least a couple months on earth before he got powers of that level. Instead it seemed like as soon as he touched the surface of the earth he instantly got all those super powers. Yes I know kryptonians can absorb plant life. It just doesn't work as well as sunlight. And even then, to absorb that much sunlight would take much MUCH longer than what actually happened in the movie.

You have to agree that even if Zod can absorb solar energy faster than superman could, it would take more than just a few hours. A few months AT LEAST.

Everyone keeps saying Superman destroyed this and Superman destroyed that. If you actually watch the movie, you'll see the about 95 percent of the destruction came from the Kryptonians who made is clear that they dont care about the earth. This movie wasn't perfect but I wish people would get it through their heads that most of the destruction they complain about didn't even come from Superman.

LazyBazooka I have two major complaints about that movie. One: If the kryptonians were SO SMART, (They had space mining and colonization and shit) who the fuck thought it was a wise idea to cut ties with ALL of the other colonies? Any sane person would be like "Hey, maybe we shouldn't, since it helps a lot with trade, population, food, and resources. It's not like we have an infinite amount of shit." Two: After the wife gave birth to Superman. why did superman's father NOT shoot Zod while he was rambling about stuff? He clearly took out the two people who accompanied him. Apparently it was his best friend and he's not violent, but let me ask you this; If your wife JUST gave birth to your son, and your best friend came in threatening to harm your wife and newborn son, you are saying you would NOT end their life? I am pretty sure everyone wouldn't even HESITATE to end their life. I mean, at the VERY LEAST he could have knocked him unconscious somehow. But no, he let's him talk and then he gets his ass kicked by Zod. Just my two cents.

Canaan B i'm a sci-fi action adventure kind of guy, but with very specific tastes. Namely: the action has to be visually appealing and engaging, a plain old gunfight doesnt quite grab my attention; the film's pacing has to be just right, or i have trouble liking the film. Pacing is an important one. Also, i hate bottle films. They're unadventurous and drama based, and visually unappealing, even if they can bring out some great acting. Consequently, in no particular order: 1. Man of steel. 2. Interstellar. 3. Star trek into darkness. 4. Memento (even though it doesnt fit my criteria, it was really cool). 5. Chronicle. The truth is though: most films are crap in my eyes. I would really love to include 2001: a space oddessey in my list, but it was soooooooooooo drawn out. It was way to slow and it didnt need to be. Also some films, like thor and iron man, have great ideas and concepts, but poorly execute them. There are other films i like, but i cant possibly list them all here.
