Minor quibble about the imagery on the VA 243 cylinder seal impression: the figures with horned headdresses are both gods. The human in the scene is the one on the left, without horns. This type of scene is called a “Presentation Scene,” and shows a minor god interceding between the human and a major god (i.e., the minor god is presenting the human to the major god). The human here is carrying a sacrificial goat. The horned headdresses are markers of divinity, and Naram-Sin only starts being depicted wearing one late in his reign, after he’s declared himself divine.

@moorek1967 Жыл бұрын
How would you respond to the critics who say that you are dismissing evidence to claim the a priori bias that your science is factual? There has been a lot of evidence that has been dismissed, so how can you reconcile that? We all know that science is just interpretation of data, so how would your interpretation be truthful compared to someone else's interpretation of the same data sets? I know, I know, if they don't agree with your interpretation, then they are just pseudo-scientists. But then, if they went to the same university as you, had comparable grades as you, and did as many research studies and peer reviewed articles as you, then how do you prove your interpretation is not pseudo-science? The reason why there are so many "conspiracy theories" is because it has been your side who has not been afraid to make hoaxes and deny evidence. Piltdown Man is just one example. For years, your side taught that was absolute fact, but turns out it was just a hoax. Unless your side addresses that there are indeed scientists on your side willing to hoax, then you will always have to challenge "conspiracy theorists" because their theory is that it is your side in the conspiracy. Research is simply research, interpretation is what is offered.

Looking through some of your comment threads, I see that fairly often you get criticized for being "too sarcastic" and the like. I think that from a persuasion standpoint you've got it just about right, but watching the clips (and in the past, some of the LAHT crowd's whole videos) I'm impressed with how well you're able to hold yourself back. ;) 1) These guys spend their whole videos sneering at "mainstream" "orthodox" archaeologists and historians and accusing them of being part of an evil cabal out to deliberately hide the truth from us. 2) Then, with nearly unlimited cockiness, they toss out their hypotheses as Proven Fact on the flimsiest of evidence ("Look! A picture of one circle surrounded by a bunch of other circles, but I can't be arsed to find out what the rest of the pictures are or what the text says!"), and from there they often climb out on an even thinner branch of wild speculation of the "so they *must* have had psionic power crystals!" variety. 3) They do this without even knowing what the "mainstream" "orthodox" archaeologists and historians think or why they think it. 4) Because the "mainstream" "orthodox" scholar they're actually sneering at is their high school history teacher, and the three-page chapter on the Sumerians (or Egyptians, Mayans, or whoever) in their school textbook, from which they were expected to extract a few names and dates to regurgitate for a test at the end of the week. It would be one thing if these folks could fairly represent the mainstream position and the evidence used to get there, and still make compelling arguments for their own side. Heck, I wish they could, because who wouldn't want to discover a mysterious ancient lost civilization rich in astonishing capabilities and deep esoteric wisdom?

@Littleprinceleon Жыл бұрын
First you need to figure out why and how much that person wants to/need to believe in that kind of stuff. Most of the time there are very personal, rather subjective and often hidden (vague, forgotten or subconscious) motives for a person's worldview. If you really care about the friendship than to realize the way how the other one forms conclusions is more precious and helpful than simply trying to convince about... Most of us are not that bright minded as evolution lured us to believe and since education also emphasized factual knowledge instead of being able to critically evaluate the actual weight of certain types of facts and being able to connect the scientifically relevant dots ... However most of the people doesn't really have a scientific mindset. Most of them have no real idea how hard earned are the achievements in sciences. Mostly know only about the "sensations" but not about the patience and humbleness required to learn all the background stuff, about the constant re-evaluation based on such details they can't even conceive of... And on top of their ignorance even they are the ones who like to play the offended "researcher" if someone criticizes their pet theories and "theories"

Since I don’t have time to refute them, I’m glad you are doing it. I appreciate the time and careful attention to detail in this presentation.

Late comment, but Bright's saying that "people only lived half our ages back then" is a common misunderstanding of average life expectancy. People didn't drop dead at 35-40 from old age. Infant and youth mortality (disease/violence) brought the life expectancy age down. Consider; an infant dies before its 1st year is over and an old man dies at 80. The average life expectancy is 40. We have many records in ancient history of people living to old age. Antipater (81), Parminion (70 when assassinated), Augustus (75), Tiberius (77). Alexander was considered young when he died at 32. These are reliable ages written down. dating through anthropology (bone fusion, growth, healed injuries/diseases) shows this was the case even further back in history/pre-history.

Here's the thing.....these cultures are amazing. What we know about them is amazing (minus the slavery part). They don't need additional "Wow." P.s. There wasn't a world flood. Yes, some cultures talk about it, but the scientific evidence for a world flood doesn't exist. There is evidence for some big floods in part of the world and if you only knew about part of the world, it is understandable that you (a member of an ancient culture) would think the entire world flooded, but the world never experienced such a thing (at least while mankind was around).

Your explanation of the purported "solar system" certainly seems reasonable to a layman--in any case it certainly is not a solar system. I am impressed that a maker of seals would have that type of technical knowledge of the calendar. I would not expect a modern graphic designer to know much about modern science. I suppose back then any person who learned to write also got a complete liberal education including most of what was believed true.

I’m absolutely loving your work and the content on this channel. It’s like a breath of fresh air. I have spent many years of study dedicated to the gods of ancient times and then here comes aliens. I’m not terribly close minded so I gave these theories a good sporting chance. Then, I began to notice inconsistencies piling up and it seemed that translating ancient tablets, glyphs, etc. wasn’t exactly the most important part of their… agenda???… if that’s the correct word I’m not sure but let’s say agenda. So, I got rather exhausted by trying to find legitimate information regarding ancient Mesopotamia and their deities whilst sifting out what was alien agenda and what was proper academic work. Now, I’m learning to read the cuneiform myself. Not even beginning with Akkadian but jumping straight into the Sumerian. My interest in the Ancient gods is global but I felt that learning this ancient writing, learning this ancient language was more important than all the others because I can’t rely on translations from Mesopotamia. So to see someone like yourself who actually possesses sound and logical reasoning skills and is not coming at the subject from the point of some alien agenda or even a biblical agenda… just, thank you. Thank you so much.🥹🥰💕 PS: I’m aware that this is an older video but I only just found your channel and I’m so glad that I did. Searching through so much of this alien stuff really began to take a toll on me so I guess maybe I would have found this when it was new if not for my hiatus away from the whole of KZbin as it pertains to this subject. Thank you again

I've always equated these "alternative archeologists/historians" as story tellers not history educators. They present themselves as the smartest in the room, but after thorough dismantling of their shtick in channels like this one, they're only fools with an audience. They're getting rich on account of people's gullibility, lack of critical thinking and laziness to further their own knowledge on a given subject from solid reputable sources. Thank you for another video that gives back people their true history knowledge.

Right away something smelled way off with the lurid clickbait titles, but it was time for bed, so I put off continuing until now, which is one day later. Here I am again, watched THIS video, and I've seen more than enough to keep this excellent channel on my feed and block the other rubbish one forever. Man oh man, does sensationalist misinformation gaming the algorithm rub me the wrong way with sandpaper. Absolutely love these videos. I can't for the life of me understand why you're subscriber count is so low. Also have to say I find it hilarious how offended people get in these comments for the person's videos that you are talking about. It seems a bit ironic all these alternative history people cry about how they are discriminated against by the mainstream archaeological community but when someone does engage with them and goes against the theories they are proposing they turn around and do the same thing. All the comments in all your videos against you are more than proof of it. Maybe that's why people don't engage with them often....

Easily your best video. Jimmy's videos are downright dangerous. His misrepresentation of facts is causing large numbers of the uneducated to lose faith in the scientific method. If we keep allowing videos like his to go unchecked and unchallenged then we are headed towards a very bleak future. That's why I love the your video here. The answer is not to silence or "cancel," the Jimmy's of the world, it's to methodically (and slowly, again, for the "Jimmy's," of the world) explain why you can't just take a look at something and form a "common sense," argument that refutes decades and decades of careful scholarly study. All of this started with the Sitchin nonsense in the 70's and 80's and unfortunately the internet is giving these morons a podium like they've never had before. The Sitchin's of the world were duly laughed at and dismissed as entertainment at the best and downright idiocy at worst 20, 30 years ago, but the idiocracy is functioning so that Jimmy's are getting more views than World of Antiquity, and this is a harbinger of doom. We need more World of Antiquities out here to put the Jimmy's in their place where they belong: back on the bench with their mouths shut and their cheeks red from embarrassment. This is a 12 year old telling a nuclear physicist that cold fusion was achieved in prehistory and getting away with it. It's dangerous and it's making this country stupider and stupider.

@@_Thoughtful_Aquarius_ Acme Clockworks represents the work of Steven Parker. As you browse through the site, you will also find pieces that result from collaborative efforts with other artists - the synergy of such creation is incredibly rewarding. Over the years, Steven Parker has been active in the design and manufacture of product in two industries - toys and jewelry. The work you see here brings together the knowledge culled from that experience with the elements of mechanics, narrative, and an interactive experience woven throughout. Another element present in some of Mr. Parker's work may be apparent in the discoveries documented here of Mr. Parker’s alter ego, Dr. Kent Streaver - a barely perceptible hint of parody. We hope you enjoy the work shown here, and look forward to adding more to the mix.

I'd wonder why aliens seemingly had such little impact? The agricultural revolution took place thousands of years before Sumer, and the domestication of wild plants and animals took thousands of years, the transition from hunter gatherers to semi-sedentary semi-farming communities with new tools like the space aged rocks-stuck-in-a-stick-scythe, then thousands of years later pottery emerging, larger cities and temples and social hierarchies and ALL thousands of years before written Sumerian history. Sumer wasn't some anomaly that suddenly poofed into existence, needing to be explained away by aliens.

Thanks again, this channel has easily become one of my new favorites : ) The clarifications are well presented and eliminate any wiggle room for pseudo-science. Love it! I wanted to ask quickly about the advent of the wheel, if I may. What are your thoughts on the toy bull (with wheels) from the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture? What do you the chances could have been that they could have used wheels for transportation? Also given that chariots originated from a nearby location (albeit being distanced by time), what do you think the chances would be that these cultures possessed the wheel but the remains of which have been lost to time? PS - I am an educator and I can add that Mesopotamian cultures ARE taught in the British curriculum (KS4-5), though not extensively, of course.
@WorldofAntiquity3 жыл бұрын
I think it is entirely possible that they used the wheel there. From what I understand, there is quite a bit of evidence for wheel use in that area at that time.

(first time visitor BTW) Yeah I remember Sitchin--he's the one who made it almost impossible to find any real information on the internet about Nibiru, because he said it was the 12th planet. (The truth is out there LOL!!) There's a lot of comments on Bright's video saying how wonderful his know-it-all attitude was and even more from others testifying they were taught about the Sumerians in school. It's terrible how some people have made so much money by interpreting the images and icons from a culture they really never studied because they know "what" it looks like. Sorry for the rant. Thank you for setting the record straight!

Month stars makes more sense in an agricultural society. The Sumerians needed to know when to plant & etc. The planets by their very nature ("wanderers") have little utility for prediction of seasons (Mile flood, monsoons). Deity to Sumerian: There are 11 planets. Sumerian Astronomer: That's an unfalsifiable hypothesis until you can prove to me there are six more than I can see.

Great video and well reasoned. Your point about looking to what the Sumerians actually say about a given subject, can't be stressed enough. Subjective reasoning can hardly be taken seriously without some hard evidence to support it.
