Great video! Just wanted to chime in for anyone that's thinking of doing this swap but doesn't have 25k to spend. I did a basic NA K24a2 swap, stock trans and clutch, with no AC for $7, 612. This includes the purchase of the complete kpower swap kit, a US k24a2, oem honda timing chain parts and oil pump. I sold my original 2017 FA20 for 4000. If I add in the sale of my OFT, tomei header/OP/front pipe, perrin intake and verus AOS the price comes down into the high 5k range. I've been daily driving my car for over 2.5 years now with the swap and its so worth it. The swap is also super easy and can be done in a weekend by yourself.

@@sshah2545 maybe one day I’ll pick up a 2nd gen and swap it. I’m actually about to start my 2nd kswap. Gonna add AC to this one and keep it a bit more street friendly with less vibrations. Using a k20z3 with stock oil pump this time around. Should be less than 8k into the swap when done, that’s after selling the IAG FA20 for 6k. Prices have went up a little these past few years but still doable for under 14k, and then subtract the sale of the fa20/24 and any parts you don’t need.

@@AttackAssetto serious question here.. I assume you align the engine longitudinally when you install? Or do you have to mount it transverse and put in additional parts to get power to the rear axel?

Nicely done on the swap however, $15K+ sounds like a very poor investment for a swap that continues to break out on track.

For anyone wondering about an NA K24, you can comfortably get it to around 240-260 with 13:1 or 14:1 compression. You'll want to go E85, but it's cheap. I know of people that've done 15:1 and I've heard of 16:1 but that's playing with fire in my opinion.

As an accountant, I was waiting to find a bunch of nits to pick with your cost breakdown. But, you disappointed me. Your analysis and discussion of the extra costs was spot on. Sometimes there are non-monetary costs ( like your own time and skills ) and the miscellaneous stuff that you just can't quantify. And then there are the optional items that make the just better but are not critical. So, if you decide to take up accounting or financial analysis as a career, you just got off to a great start.

I have been restoring a 1st gen (99) Expedition and completed swapping a supercharged 5.4 from a 2002 Lightning. I am 30k and 4 years in and still tons more to do. This is not for everybody and is the most difficult undertaking I've experienced so far. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I do it a second time? Absolutely not. Lol. It has a pulley and all the bolt on mods and makes a healthy 440hp/520ftlbs to the tire, will build for more power eventually.

American engineering that designs the car to start breaking right after the warranty ends VS Japanese perfection ((Toyota Chassis Combined With Honda Engine) literally the best combo to ever exist) plus the capability to modify the k24 up to 2000hp+ maybe even up to 3000hp RELIABLY while your c7's engine can't even get to 800hp without blowing up after 20k kilometers and/or a weekend of hard pulls

impressive But this is why i just went out and bought a Mustang GT.. Done over I'm good.. There's so many other things you need to have besides the money he listed.. First a shop/Garage with a lift, all the saw's, welder, and tools needed are into the 10's of thousands, before you even get started. Finally if you don't have the network or contacts to have things custom fab'ed up don't even bother, even if you do have the money to waste...

You make a fair point about just buying a faster car to begin with. This was a passion project for me. It took over two and half years to do, so all that money invested was spread out over that time. I gained a ton of knowledge and fabrication experience while doing it that I never would have gotten. I love this chassis, and wanted to build upon what I knew it was already capable of. I have no qualms with the folks who just buy a newer, faster car, and this is just the route I decided to take because it’s worth it to me. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Just stumbled upon the series, any reason you decided to not use the FRS/BRZ transmission? Just curious. Really nice breakdown, thanks for the transparency.
@BuildingWithSean6 ай бұрын
I explain it in my most recent post, but the short version is that I’m making more power than the stock transmission can handle. I plan to race and drift the car, so I didn’t need the stock trans failing on me.

I can't see lighting $25k on fire by putting it into a BRZ......unless it's a forever car for you. Tears will have to be shed in a few years when that $40k (car + mods) sells for $8k. I'd be hard pressed to do this when $25k can get you a vette....an older AMG....a CTS-V....the list of 400 hp cars is endless.

Yea that is what I was thinking however if you buy a used GR86 for 5-10k do the swap then you will undercut a new GR supra by alot.
@andrewsolis2988Ай бұрын
@@warped11 Huh??? New 3.0 Supras are 61k all day. 63k for a higher trim. The 4 cylinder is even cheaper. Then you get a car off the showroom floor with no miles, a warranty and all the drive line tech that was engineered for that car. This swap, no matter how you look at it, makes ZERO sense. Not to mention the 3.0 has way more potential, astronomically more torque, etc. He spent closer to 30k and did everything himself, all the fabrication and time. So let's just say the end product was 40k with all the miscellaneous crap and fluids. No thanks! I will buy a brand new Supra, even a 4 banger for roughly the same, or I will buy a used 3.0 for the same if not cheaper
