car looks good, and its basically the same concept of upgrading power for a Miata...it wont make a TON, but it makes it more FUN...for the price, it kills me how much it costs for hp on some of these platforms (vs say, my Focus ST with that kind of money would have a built block, big turbo, and push over 500whp easy)... but one thing i did not see you mention which usually costs a good chunk, is FMIC. It looks like it has one unless thats just the radiator that was upgraded and maintaining low charge temps is basically one of THE most important steps on a boosted car. A FMIC is basically synonymous with any boosted upgrade...

Don't forget to change the weak-ass rods the stock pistons are ok... Some people have been lucky with stock rods. The driveshaft will explode change that too and oil-cooler is a must. - If you go boost E85 will be beneficial and will help the engine survive being boosted.
@I-didnt-ask-you Жыл бұрын
Driveshaft should be fine. Did you mean the axles? E85 helps with the octane but degraded the fueling system and the DI seals over time, and can cause buildup if the engine is not brought up to temperature. (I.E. driving only a couple miles, small short trips etc.)
@TheBuddilla4 жыл бұрын
Doesn't want to spend money on new pulleys on a supercharger for more boost, proceeds to add more boost to turbocharger and a rod comes a knockin. I’m so confused why the whp #s are so low on these turbo’d brzs ? .. is there no way to get 375-400ish whp reliably ? What drivetrain components can you upgrade on these ?
@I-didnt-ask-you Жыл бұрын
The stock engines are very high compression and the connecting rods are a bit on the weak side especially when having too much low end torque. They are cast and have a unique angle so an improper tune or too much low end power or detonation can bend them. The block itself can accept around 500 despite being open deck design. However octane and connecting rods are the biggest limitation. That why most people who do not have special built engines will typically not exceed 300 to 350 whp. Most will be around 270 give or take 30. Also, the transmission will tend to break 4th gear if loading too much torque into it (in the manual). When aiming above 400 nm of torque it is best to consider upgrading to a fairlady transmission or just go a bit easy on the stock one.

@@Smeedia Don't get me wrong this is really nice work/a great project but there must of been some headaches along the way. Well worth it in the end though
