There's this idea that paid reach (advertising) is some sort of dirty taboo that we should not even think of doing in the arts & the music industry. What other business that wants to grow has that attitude towards marketing? Free advertising is rare. There will be some opportunities though. But it's so easy to "whack a 10er in" as Damo says. If you have the $$$, go for it. And there's no reason to be ashamed of paid advertising. Any successful band is run in a professional way, to some degree, and will have a business side to it. Rant over. Your thoughts on this ladies and gents?

You're bang on Dustin. It seems 'uncool', 'corporate' or 'cheating' somehow to pay to advertise but as you say, every business does or should pay for advertising. Nailing down your demographics is key. I'd love to spend a couple of hundred and do a blitz.

that's a lot of money I'm planning on recording 3 songs with 3500$. Investing 1750$ is so much money haha but I guess if you buy a drumset for 5000$ you're not gonna transport it in cheap cases...

Great advice but why do we assume it's normal to be slaves of FB and start putting so much money in adds?What if tomorrow KZbin decides also not to show our content to our subscribers without paying them?Isn't there another way to actually get out music to potential fans without that greedy FB middleman?

@@beethoven5485 a star?Not at all. Just to be able to pay the bills and have the time to live the music passion.Ok I see, indeed, these strategies to always be at the front news do pay but for aspiring artists or artists just getting discovered, how do you play that game when no newspaper or tv shows gives a damn about you?
@dustinmccrindle3435 жыл бұрын
FB and the like have very good targeting features for your ads. You'll reach your kind of people for a very low cost - provided you put in the right interests / specifications. I can reach thousands of people within a target group for the same price as a newspaper ad, which is not targeted. So these ads are very well priced, provided you do the right targeting AND the right advertisement...wording picture timing etc. Damo also has a video or two about "beating the algorithm". Go check that one out, a few of those ideas are free. From personal experience I'd say try not to post anything without a picture, keep to just a few sentences, respond to comments on your posts with an open ended question. Those help your reach a lot. Cheers. :)

Loving that people are getting involved to help here that’s really made my day that this is a community as well as a KZbin channel. I would add that social media is the best/cheapest current way of getting attention for your music however in a few years time it might change.. so the key is riding the wave of what works and jump on to other things as and when needed 😊😊😊

@@dustinmccrindle343 hello Dustin, if your band plays for instance same music like Gun's Roses, how many key words would you put in the FB add target?Oblivious Guns Roses, hard rock but which other ones?And is there a sense to put keywords like "band, rock, live, music"?

I have picked up a sponsor and Friday I’m meeting with them to talk about budget for promoting my music I need advice on how much I should be trying to secure. The backer I have has a good financial background in an ideal world what should I be looking to gain from them as an ideal amount ?

The key person in all of this is you. Your knowledge and experience as you grow is the most important aspect. There are some great channels and videos online to help and I am here to help when I can. I’m working on a video series and playlist which is a 30 day countdown to a release and what you can do each day. It should be released on KZbin in the next few weeks which hopefully will help 😊😊

question what about Reverb click soundcloud bandzoom and other platforms would that be equal in promotions or is it getting bloggers.. or advertize in a Magazine. radio. ?
@DamianKeyes5 жыл бұрын
16914 good question, my opinion is all can work, it’s about how much time and effort you can focus on them. They are all platforms being used and you can get traction.. the hard part is when artists try and win on all of them and don’t have the focus or time to build them properly 😊😊😊
