Fantano made a video titled "Muse sucks" and only talked about the last four albums and said they where garbage while only showing people one song line and not even playing any of the songs. 2nd law is a good album and the last three albums are debatably good but if your gonna say half an artists discography sucks you actually have to put time and effort into showing the evidence. But negative reviews attract people (especially the baseless ones) so channels make them to get popular. Anyways , fuck the haters.

Another ingredient to their success is their electric live performances. They have done a good job of going over the top with their production, but never having it overshadow the actual performance. They also bring it live. Muse can be polarizing, but I’ve never talked to anyone who has seen them live that hasn’t been blown away, regardless of how much they like the actual songs.

Saw Muse touring Showbiz when they opened for Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers. My bandmates didn't believe me when I said they would be huge; Bellamy's voice and stage presence were undeniably massive. Met them afterward and Matt was drinking a giant glass of red wine and signing posters with 2 and 3 Sharpies at a time - mine is framed and hanging at a friend's house to this day.

Exactly, but the setlist would have to be totally different for each of them. Muse could easily create a 2hrs set for each. And for alt rock festival as well. And maybe an 1hr set for a classical music fest... and a 30 mins set for Tomorrowland :D The problem is they're so diverse that it's eventually becoming their weakness. During their regular gig every single song is from a totally different world. It makes the audience being diverse as well: 10% of the people waiting for Undisclosed Desires and Madness, 5% for Dead Star and Kill Or Be Killed, others demanding Exogenesis and Piano Thing, and even others wanting Take A Bow and Unsustainable... There's no single song during their gig that could make ALL OF THE FANS fully bang to it. Each track triggers only a small group of their fanbase at a time. DEAR MUSE - Consider making single-genre gigs! :D (I'd attend each one of them: Muse-metal, Muse-rock, Muse-pop, Muse-electronica, Muse-classical)

I think the “template” for a band like muse was actually done years earlier with queen. They wrote straight ahead rock songs, rock operas, pop songs, and some genuinely heavy metal and progressive elements throughout their catalog, and somehow managed to dominate the world on the strength of Freddie’s vocals and songwriting. And I really think you can hear the Queen influence throughout a lot of muse’s discography

Their first 4-5 albums (i.e the ones that got them big) are basically Radiohead with riffs. Nothing wrong with that at all but no doubt Radiohead is the foundation of their sound. Matt Bellamy is unbelievable as both a vocalist and a guitarist. I was completely floored when i first heard his voice, stating to my bf that "his voice sounds like a whammy bar!". It is extraordinary. While the music is not the same, i am reminded of Dan Smith of Bastille at certain parts, but when Dan was a solo artist. There are vocal gymnastics going on here that baffle the mind. (With both). But no one does it like Muse. They are phenomenal and i appreciate you taking the time to give them their due credit ❤

I think what Muse did that most experimental/progressive bands didn’t do is they never over experimented and they didn’t sacrifice their songwriting in favor of the experimentation/progressiveness. While I do think some of their songs are a bit “underdone,” they are great songwriters overall which really helps them. And they knew their limits for experimenting, as you pointed out when talking about Black Holes and Revelations. It also helps that their live performances and live shows are amazing. They know how to put on a show in conjunction with being tight musicians.

Matt was always going to be a musician. His dad, George Bellamy, was in the band The Tornados in the 1960s. They were the first British band to have a number 1 hit in the states with their song "Telstar". Muse's song "Knights of Cydonia" is an homage to (and is basically updated version of) "Telstar".

Muse always reminds me of a modern version of pre Wayne's World, Freddie Mercury Queen- bold, experimental, top notch production and live performance, and mega rock gods.... except in the US. And just like Queen, if asked average person to name Muse song, they probably couldn't outside a few of them. Because of that I bought the album and it's now my all time favourite record leading me to explore more Hardcore bands. Muse got me into Hardcore.

What set Muse appart form their counterparts is the theatrical sense. From music to visuals arts like the video clips and the insane live shows. I think they are best described as mix of 80's synth rock and Queen with the theme's and visuals from The Matrix. Once you see that it all becomes very obvious and things start to make sense.

When I first saw and heard the “Muscle Museum” music video on Fuse as a teen, I was hooked. Dove deeper into them with each album and fell in love. It was really the dubstep album that soured me on them and haven’t loved much output since. See them live every few years though and they still kill it.

I think one of the things that made them break into the mainstream was their work ethic. They said "yes" to every little show they could between Showbiz and Origins, didn't matter where they were playing. You can catch a glimpse of this in the Hullabaloo Dvd when a reporter asked them, "don't you think you played, like, 100 shows too many this year?" because they were everywhere. Absolute beasts on stage. Found Showbiz in 1999 when it came out and got hooked. I must confess that after Absolution I began to find their music a bit bloated though.

I only found out what Dream Theater were because I’d become obsessed with Muse and started looking for ‘bands that sound like Muse’. Dream Theater came up a lot and so I listened to Octavarium and liked it, and was blown away by the title track. Still could take or leave most of their stuff, but Images and Words I’ve found to be one of my favourite albums now. No way I would’ve thought to give that type of music a chance if I hadn’t got into Muse.

Muse was my #1 favorite band of the 2000’s, so I’m pleasantly surprised to see their retrospective featured on this channel. They were never part of any ‘scene’, and I think that contributed to their longevity in the sense that they never had to deal with collateral damage from backlash directed at entire subgenres, to the extent that every nu metal, pop punk, and 3rd gen. emo band experienced when those trends became ‘uncool’. In my opinion Muse got better with each of their first four albums, which is pretty remarkable considering how good their first one actually was.

Muse's latest album, Will of the People, has been self-described as a "greatest hits" album in terms of styles Muse have dug into over time. And surprisingly, I have to agree. It's an extremely varied album in terms of style, but every song is a banger. I would suggest that album to any newcomers to Muse. Then check out Back Holes & Revelations and the Resistance

Origin of Symmetry is still the best album they created, the album still holds up today as it did back then.

In 2008 I was listening to mostly Nu-Metal, then saw Muse live at a Concert. Not knowing who they are, or any of their songs, I was honestly blown away by the performance. I was an instant fan :) Personally Absolution is my favourite album, but it's all really great. In the past I seldom enjoyed listening to an album from start to finish, and with them it was effortless...

Amazing band. Got into them at the time of Absolution and have seen them on every tour cycle since. Honestly one of the best live bands with each show being bigger and more bada** than the last. 🤘

I was a full on metalhead but when I saw MUSE live at rock am ring 2007 (or 6...dunno anymore) (i just wanted to hear Knights of Cydonia, but bc they started their set with it i decided to stick around longer) it expanded my taste in music

Never thought I'd see the day Finn covers Muse. Became a massive fan whilst living in the UK circa Absolution era. Saw them live in South Africa in 2006 at a festival. They stole the show that day. The later albums aren't great, but MUSE 2000-2012 were amazing

Muse is prob my favorite rock band of all-time that is NOT metal. They have some fantastic bangers. They even went metal once with Stockholm Syndrome and it's a great tune! Will dig into this vid tonight
