I tend to be a " hot" person so I wash them after each wear regardless of season. I learned from my mother who tends to be laundry obsessed; there was no dirty laundry in the house ever! We were a farm family of 6 ( 4 kids) and no dirty laundry!! My mother is a true wonder!😊

Clean My Space I clean my bras almost exactly like you, about every 3 to 4 wearings unless for some reason I sweated a lot that day. Letting them air out and skip a day between wearings are excellent ideas! I generally wash my sports bras after every use or maybe two uses. Love your channel!!

Melissa, I am a new subscriber and I absolutely love your videos. You are one of the best hosts on KZbin because you're extremely natural, very knowledgeable and obviously well researched, you don't say uuhhh or other "filler" words and both you and your husband are as cute as can be! I would like to just make a few comments about your video on how often to clean things. Because we are on our bedsheets for about eight hours a day, they are full of skin flakes and all kinds of yucky stuff. So when I remove my sheets I pull the four corners off and fold them all in to each other to somewhat contain the dirt especially the skin flakes and put them in a bag or a laundry basket to carry to my laundry room instead of just an arm full of sheets dropping skin flakes all over the house. Maybe I just have a thing about skin flakes. Also both of my adult kids now sleep "European style". That is without a top sheet. So unless it's really cold and they're using additional blankets, their comforter is against their body all night. I taught them to always look at the care label before purchasing anything so as to avoid a lot of things that need dry cleaning only. And in my opinion a comforter is one of those items. Every week I take off my comforters and at least fluff them in the dryer with two fabric sheets. (BTW my dryer does not have a "fluff cycle". It is just a low heat or no heat cycle.) It gets pet hair, dust and of course those nasty skin flakes off between laundering. And last thing, I noticed when your husband put the sheets and towels in the washer, there was something red with those. Uness it's an item that I have washed over and over and over, I always wash my reds separate. (I try to avoid buying a lot of red items, especially towels and T-shirts. Pick another color that does not have to be handled separately). Thanks for the great videos. I look forward to new ones all the time.

Thanks so much for your lovely comment, Deborah (my middle name!!). I really appreciate it, we all try so hard to be fun and professional here, so I am glad it is resonating with you. You have some great tips in here! That red hand towel is a very old one so we didn't worry about colours bleeding, but normally yes, red has to be washed on its own at first! Re: the dead skin cells, what you are doing sounds good and smart, I haven't heard of this before!

Clean My Space yeah I've also been taught to fold the corners in and leave all the comforter & sheets in it & it gets hauled downstairs in 1 shot. The only difference is that the comforter also gets washed as well. & we try to keep the animals out of our room (the dogs know the rules, however the cats are the challenge). P.s. I unclogging our air jets in our hot tub with your vinegar bathroom cleaning solution & leaving it overnight. It did a far better job than the air compressor, which only managed to open 2 air inlets after an hour of messing around & detaching hoses in small area in the wall. Realized it was going to be a huge undertaking to try and open other air inlets. Then "light bulb" went off & I remembered how your cleaning solution stuff worked for getting hard water calcification off the shower head. So today we were happy when we pressed the button and ALL the air bubble inlets worked. Yay! Anyways, thankyou so much! I love your videos & your presentation skills. Thanks ☺

Deborah Parks I don't mean any disrespect but you do realize that your skin is naturally shedding "flakes" 24/7. That's part of what dust that we find around our homes is made of. You leave a constant trail of skin flakes every time you walk /move.

Melissa, I agreed with all the items and wash frequencies, EXCEPT for the bath mat. No please, once a week, especially if it sits on the floor next to the toilet. Actually, mine is placed over the shower curtain and I ONLY place it on the floor before taking a shower. When I'm done showering, I shake it lightly and hang it up again!

My motto is clean as needed. So the more you use the room, the more you have to clean or organize it. I also like the cleaning game if I clean it right it doesn't need it. I always tell myself it should stay clean just to not waste time but when it needs it-Just do it!

After I shower I take the corners of the liner with the magnets in them and stick them to the opposite side of the tub so the hemline hangs free not stuck against the side of the tub. That way it dries completely and mold doesn't develop along the bottom of it.

I recommend cleaning everything way more. I wash blankets once a week like sheets. Before I had my own washer I would wash them once a month at laundry mat now new home washers wash them easy. And amazon and Walmart sells what they call quilts (not old school) but they are nice thick no puffy filling though that hates being washed. You can get them in any color or design and like the last one I got at Walmart for $20 holds up through 50 washes now on sanitize and highest drying and still looks good as new. I never reuse a towel - have tons of them and wash clothes and then just wash them all once a week. I would never use a bath mat - instead I use hand towels on the floor for when I get out of shower and before I put in hamper I wipe it all around floor with feet making sure to get up any water. And I would never re-wear a bra unless I literally never sweat or hadn't taken shower yet and need to run to store real quick.

I have 2cats and one is prone to hairballs, and apparently hates the color white( I have a reversible comforter gray on one side, gray and white stripes on the other) and it never fails the day I put the white side showing is the day the cat will get on my bed and throw up. I have to wash my comforter atleast once a week. It’s annoying because I went from a queen to a king and only have the one comforter, but I have now put the king comforter down and now I keep a queen comforter on top Incase that happens. It’s quicker and easier to wash a queen size comforter than it is a king. :)

I think it is important to do a couple times per year, since stuff does fall back there and you want to avoid any critters from finding that hot spot, plus dust can clog up the vent/intake functions over time. But nothing more frequently than that.

to keep the shower and shower curtain from getting mildewed or having soap scum... first, don't use solid soap (ever), go to the beauty supply store and get a gallon of shampoo that you like the smell (must be pH balanced [acid round pH3]) and get refillable pumper bottles for hand and body soap (i worked in an aveda salon and the body soap in the same scent as the shampoo was more expensive but was virtually the same... i love using tea tree shampoo or peppermint shampoo as body soap and hand soap [it tingles]) the shampoo is designed to not leave any residue so there's no residue on your shower or shower curtain. to add to that, another way is to have a spray bottle filled with distilled vinegar to spray down the curtain liner, tub and tiles (acid environment discourages and kills mold and fungus, spray your feet after your shower to avoid athlete's feet) before you leave the shower. stretch the shower curtain closed, then push the bottom curtain into the tub and pull bottom corners of the liner to wrap around the curtain toward the outside of the tub and secure together with an alligator clip and leave that way until dry, when dry, remove and straighten the curtain/liner. you will never have soap scum or mildew to clean ever again and it will always be disinfected.

I sadly do not have a fan or a window in my bathroom. I have to leave the door open. It was poor planning on the builder or architect part. All the other houses or apartments had a window and/or vent in it. I had to buy a dehumidifier. I can't wait to move. That bathroom is filled with mold and is beyond saving. Just need one more year of savings.

I usually hang my bra on my bedpost before going to bed. This allows my bra to air out and it allows me to air out as well! I know some women can't go to bed without a bra--if that's you, I'd suggest buying a separate bra that you can sleep in (like a soft-cloth/sports bra) or if you need the extra support, just have one of your normal bras for sleeping only. Doing this will keep your chest and your daily bras from getting bacteria/yeast build-up.

The inside of the dishwasher is a place that sounds silly to think about cleaning. But I have well water and the inside of my dishwasher has what looks like coffee stains on the bottom. I rinse my dishes before they go in. I've tried adding baking soda to the wash. Other times I've added white vinegar, in hopes the stains would go away. They seem to be "baked on" by the heat element. I'm thinking of maybe scrubbing with a Magic Eraser sponge next. Not sure if Comet or Soft Scrub is bad for the inside of the white dishwasher? The stains kind of gross me out!! Hahaha!! ♡ Thanks from Oregon

I always rivers socks before washing. The inside is the area the touch your feet and ankle Yes it does mean you should rivers them right side out before folding the and putting them away. Reason: unlike women's nylons most men;s feet are encased in shoes, or work boots. women shoe are closed at the toes or open toes allowing them to breed better. Hope you can use this useful.

Ok. I have one of those 2'x3' throw rugs made of "100% heat-set nylon that looks ike a persian rug. Cut pile with fringe ends woven like a real rug. Recommeded professional cleaning when necessary. It's been in front of the kitchen sink for years. I recently spilled some fine sugar it. I'm cheap so tried washing it in my utility basin (not really big enough) and then the tub, scrubbing it too with a brush. Hung it to dry in the bathroom for days. Didn't come out particularly clean and it smells. Can it be put into the front loader? What about the dryer? Thanks.

I clean as needed. When it's dirty I clean. As for bathroom often. I tend to wipe sinks off every day and clean to list inside bowl daily. So it don't stink. Bra' s I wear once. Then launder them when do laundry. If you sweat you're bra well be sweaty. Towls once a week and sheets once a week and once or twice a week clean tub. Dust once or twice a week. Or as needed. If its dirty clean it. Pillows go in wash as needed like every month if remember or every few months. That well fluff them up and smell nice.

Hi Melissa, I have a goose down duvet. How often should it be cleaned? And how would you recommend I do it. I would hate to ruin it. I love your videos and have learned so much. Thanks

Good tips! Although I wouldn't worry too much about the right pillow cause soon you'll be so tired that you could even sleep on a log! All jokes aside though, congratulations on your pregnancy and hope you have a healthy 9 months!

How often should I shampoo my dogs? I have a pit, a boxer and a hound. They love to lay on my furniture and make it smell like dog. I bathe them weekly. Is that enough?

Hi Melissa, just wondering what type/brand of bed sheets you use in this video? It looks really soft and nice. I’ve been looking for a nice set for a while and all the ones i’ve got so far are just too stiff. Thanks so much for so much tips and tricks you have been sharing about cleaning, it helps me a bunch. 👍🏻😘❤️😘😘😉😉

Clearly I'm over-laundering my doona covers (duvet covers) - I wash the cover with my sheets every week because that's what I grew up doing! I may reduce the frequency because putting the cover back on a king size quilt is a PAIN

@4:50 “if you happen to standup when you sprinkle...”. Whoever you are 😆😆😆 you need to do broader area cleaning, possibly very wide. Old men and drinkers are especially hazardous. 🤭 My washing machine is a basic one and old. I suspect it is not cleaning like it should. I was able to open the top door a tad when it was running and the agitator was only moving a tiny bit back and forth. Yesterday I saw a spot from the Oxyclean powder on a new shirt that had not dissolved.

what about the ventilation fan in the bathroom? How often should I pry off the cover and vacuum the fan and perimeter? I recently just did this in our condo but we've already been living here for over a decade... Oops! I didn't even know that cover could come off...

Sandra Martinez omg. Monthly or 3 monthly. You can cheat by using spider web brush, once you have given it a good clean, but take the one in kitchen off & clean properly.
