Been playing for years , always used cues given to me or found or borrowed etc , had pure grief with 2 piece ash cues , especially ones with splicing and joints , grief over years of usage I must say , in my books one piece cues have a special feel from top to bottom , length of cue makes a lot of difference , wat is prescribed and what feels good are two different things , after years of playing it’s down to the feel of the cue in your hand and how it feels when your playing , is it consistent to your playing style , measurements weights etc don’t matter , it’s all about how it plays to your skills on the table , one piece of solid maple with a ebony butt with no splice is perfect for me as it’s solid all the way through and you feel the cue in your hands , some of these cue makers can’t even play snooker or have practice facilities wen you go to purchase one , your buying a Paris cue you have waited a year for and down the snooker club it plays like a broomstick , then what ?? Today’s day n age many cue makers out there let you practice with the cue , only means you got to travel far to get a good cue , best way to get a new cue !

sounds like crap, same with guitars, old guitars vs new guitar technology.. i prefer the old traditional way real wood solidy made from one piece of would... but now you get alot of laminated guitars and stuff which is rubbish to me.
@dragos7puri8 жыл бұрын
Not really the same thing. You can't deny that technology improves things. Maybe you like the older style, but that doesn't mean it functions better. When talking about deflection, it's basic physics. A cue that bends easier has lower deflection. A hollowed and spliced cue bends easier. Ergo, a more technologically advanced cue has lower deflection. Lower deflection means better accuracy.
@danielkandisnooker79908 жыл бұрын
You are wrong by comparing guitars to cues. I know that because I make music, and i know acoustics shouldnt be sacrificed like they do in some areas of the one ur talking about. But a cue thats laminated is not necessarily crap. "Sounds like crap" , spoken like crap when you havent tried it. So try it before judging it. Fact is, lowdeflection is the future of more precise hitting. Mezz makes both high and lowdeflecting shafts so those who want a traditional hit can get it, and us that want more innovative hits can have laminated. But let me Stress, that their snookershaft is the ONLY pie-laminated shaft they have. I play with their Wx700 shaft for pool, and that one is 1 piece maple, with all the tech inside the ferrule. So yea. Dont make it sound like im one of the predatorcuelovers that only love pielaminated cues. It is about the HIT. Not how its made.

Dragos Puri well f*ckin' said :D Predatorcues were fantastic when made in canada/US, but they are not the same now as they are made in china, so thats where it died for me. So thats the only place i can compare with the laminated guitars. Every company moving production to china are missing a trick. Not that they are all bad, but for cues, it just cant give the same trademark hit. The same reason Carlsberg or Cocacola taste worse in some countries. Thai snookercues are often brilliant and their tech is much the same as its always been, just with cheaper workforce, plus probably cheaper wood. But it's all preference. I just hate when people knock on new tech without having tried it!

Imo Robert Osbourne is far far better in terms of pure craftsmanship. Parris has the name and offers a wider range

Delay the process. Build up a backlog of work. Then overcharge so the customer thinks it’s rather special elongated process.
