In a basic definition you want proper saturation in the evap and condenser so you are making the best use of that coils ability to absorb or give off max heat.

What decides the suction and discharge pressure? For example if it is R134A, 40 psi suction and 100 psig discharge. What factor actually decides the pressure?
@mikeautostudent5562
@mikeautostudent5562 3 жыл бұрын
The chemical nature of refrigerant, the length of the tube in the system including the condensers and evaporators, the weight of the substance, the compressor and the desired temp of the specific system design. I hope That I could help.

@@mikeautostudent5562 Let me put it this way, the txv controls the flow of the refrigerant, and evaporator pressure was dictated by supply air temperature, what happens to the suction pressure if there is lack of refrigerant in the system?
@thembones12
@thembones12 3 жыл бұрын
Suction & Discharge pressure - Its decided by Manufacturer Air Conditioning Design Engineer. For example in Temp/Pressure Chart for R134A @ 40 psig is 35F and @ 100 psig is 124F. You want your suction pressure greater than 32F, otherwise it will freeze your suction/condenser side. As you know water freeze at 32 F....Compressor suction and discharge are determined by compressor piston size, compression ratio and etc...😍😎😁💖✔ And size of metering device, piston or TXV ...(If you're a HVAC tech, using your Manifold Pressure Gauge - you want your suction around 40 F-corresponding pressure and discharge around 105 F-corresponding pressure using your P/T chart)

Great explanation. One question: Shouldn't the air handler blower motor be blowing air towards the evaporative coil? In the diagram, t looks like it is sucking cold air across the coil instead of blowing. Is this a valid setup? I haven't seen it installed that way.
@acservicetechchannel
@acservicetechchannel 3 жыл бұрын
Furnaces push air across the evap coil. Air handlers suck air across. the blower is in the correct location, thanks!

Craig what material do you recommend for taking the EPA 608 Exam? thanks
@publicmail2
@publicmail2 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Craig, do you find the current compressor draw more (3 ton heatpump R22) in heat mode vs cooling? I get on a hot day in cooling 3000watts (incl fan 1.1amp, 260watt) vs upto 3600w as it runs for a while, which steadily climbs over about 10 mins to outdoor TXV modulation, but is higher in heat mode vs cool mode. I'm sure you remember I sent you a pix of the sinusoidal current draw only happens in heat mode. So recap to my question I get about 3600w in heat mode at compressor only after it been running 10+ mins and 2800-3000w cooling mode depending on outdoor temp of course, BTW I'm moving 1400CFM indoor air in heat mode to "cool" indoor coil which I guess is a "condenser" coil.

Technically the Metering Device is what makes the Vapor, correct? it takes the high pressure and pushes the liquid threw the metering device, then the metering device cuts down the pressure because the way the metering device is design the liquid has no choice but to turn into vapor, because of the small outlet from the metering device, correct? if we brake down a spray bottle, the spray bottle has a metering device too. Spray bottle has a compressor, and a metering device, and liquid. study the spray bottle and you will see how it works.
