@casgasa Kurty Australia’s richest man didn’t even send his son to college. Said all he’d learn is “how to smoke marijuana.” Put him to work on his cattle farm to toughen him up then brought him into his corporation. The very rich don’t need connections.

For clarification I agree that the student should be able to get in the school on his own and not who the father and or mother may know.

My response, "Stop calling yourself stupid, you went to college." Her response, "Sure, and I've met a lot of really stupid people who went to college; one too many cases of mom and dad trying to get rid of their kid for four years in hopes that they'll grow up, and they'll pay through the nose to make it happen." "Geez, what a waste."

I was applying and hearing back from schools when the college admissions scandal news broke. I wasn’t surprised at all. We have all sorts of expectations that people with money can attend these schools just because they have money, and we have proof that they will do heaps of debauchery to do so.

Ok This is such an important point. This might not be your brand but- this needs to be said louder and louder. Too many schools admit AND graduate people who aren’t ready / qualified. It waters down value of degrees. I don’t have a BA. Never needed one for my work. I’m an on the job learner- and so many people have gotten higher paid positions because of their degree- but it doesn’t translate into value in the market place. Education all around needs a revamp- and you Mr Crown highlighted a cruicial part- NOT accepting something when you’re not qualified. There’s other places this can be applied. When are other times people should withdraw acceptance into something because the fit isn’t right even though the ✨opportunity ✨looks good on paper?

Admin wouldnt have been so stupid. They would have offered tutoring and special training. Having big names at the school is a boost to them as well. It adds to the schools credentials to have wealthy students who are the children of industry magnets. Money is never a problem given that those who vant afford outright will have a government garunteed loan. Provenance is more important to them and they would have offered to help in anyway possible, including counseling and extra education donated by the school

My daughter not only got into one of the top schools in the state but she also received a full scholarship. It doesn’t matter if I “CAN” afford it. Without MINIMALLY getting the grades you don’t deserve my resources. Same goes for her college. She’s been pinching her savings (birthdays/Xmas/side jobs) & allowance (EARNED ALLOWANCE) for roughly a decade. She gets a match from me for every dollar she puts towards school. Which helps incentivizes her to save more. Honestly this probably still won’t be enough to cover medical school in it’s entirety but that’s OK. She will absolutely receive at least some partial scholarships if not a full ride. If she can earn herself a full scholarship she gets to keep that amount for a car/down payment on a home etc. Forcing her to EARN her way (at least partially) & physically put sweat into the game. She’s using her own abilities to help further her education. Because she’s paying with her own money (effort) it’s *Imperative* to not get poor grades & to take it seriously. 0 regrets thus far. Genuinely I would rather pay for a poor child’s FULL admission to a private school. One that has fantastic grades. Rather then my own, had they been nearly flunking or not taking it seriously. #SryNotSry

If you're rich enough you should just teach your kid what they actually need to know. You clearly know what's actually important, instead of some BS math that nobody ever uses unless their specific job requires it, and I've never met someone who works at a job that does. Well, I mean, other than the teachers who you're supposed to listen to even though they literally all complain about not being paid enough for their work. I am very privileged I have been from birth, I said, I really don’t like talking about any of this topic - perhaps this is a big reason why I enjoy your content so much. I’m breaking my silence a little bit here because this point is so true - I know from your past videos that you are a self made man (I think that is what “rich vs really rich” means- new vs old money in many ways)… In a past video you said you’re aiming to be like the “really rich” guy- so I’m going to share this with you and your viewers. My burden is maintaining- my family raised me very well, I didn’t know we had money until I was a teenager, and not until I was 18 did I really learn how well off we were. We were living in incredible places where as my pass meds got new pairs of shoes every week I had to make my last all year. I started working and I was 12 and I invested in Apple… and here is the big point to all of this, you would think my parents told me to do this, but that would be totally wrong. I learned it in our public school. We first did stock simulations in 3rd grade, than 5th grade we did them again, in public school mind- my freshman year of high school I would end up going to an elite east coast school, but over the summer I took a course at the local public high school and realized that New Trier High School is just a better school, and I switched back. My parents understood that education is the most valuable gift they can give to me, the money is insignificant, and in my family even though there is enough money that we don’t have to, we all earn our own wealth- a task which I personally was able to start at the age of 12 independently because my parents put me in the best schools - some places that meant a private international school, but the best of the best happened to be public. General advice: Don’t think about the money, think about what you love and how you can help people. Go help people doing what you love - be ethical, the money will come with the good will you build up. Thanks for the great content- the tips you are giving people are frankly invaluable. These are the ‘social capital’ advantages that need not be exclusive to the few. Just made me think about those kids with the new shoes every week, when 2007 hit many of them had to move away- I want to see everyone win, seeing people loose because of a need to feel validated or whatever it is, it’s hard to watch- and it’s worse as I can’t help everyone and it keeps me up. Your content I think will prevent some people from making those mistakes- good on you and thank you!
