I love my Mets & in the 2010’s ex-GM rebuilt the team predicated on pitching. First came Matt Harvey. Then we had Lugo, deGrom, Wheeler, Syndergaard & Matz. Matz never lived up to the hype. Harvey burned out. Syndergaard hasn’t been the same since surgery. Letting DeGrom go I understood because his last 3 years as a Met were injury plagued & he barely pitched. I was livid when ex-GM Brodie Van Wagene let Wheeler walk to the Phillies on a relatively modest contract. He had injury issues early in his career but put it together as a Met & had the filthiest stuff on the staff outside of deGrom. The Mets stubbornly kept Lugo in the bullpen. He was good there but wanted to start. He has one of the best curves in MLB with one of the highest spin rates. I was mad when they let Lugo go. In fact the past few years besides letting deGrom walk we let Wheeler, Lugo, Stroman, Bassitt, Taijuan Walker & Trevor Williams walk. Only Walker has really struggled. That’s one hell of a pitching staff. Then the Mets wonder why they can’t beat the Braves or Phillies. Luckily we have a much better GM now or historically he has been. How he does running the Mets remains to be seen. Our starters have been solid this year to be fair. He should be extending Severino a year or two as he has regained his form. Continuity can matter in a pitching staff. You can’t expect chemistry & consistency from your starters if there is a lot of turnover year after year. Congrats to Seth, Zack, et al It just stings that they are continuing or finding their success outside of a Mets uniforms due to myopic & dumb former Mets GMs.😮😐🤨🫤

@@RJB88525 Thanks for reading it & thanks for the kind words. I love baseball & football along with other sports like motorcycle racing but am passionate about the Mets & Giants. Always loved baseball &y Mets fandom started when I was a kid so it runs deep. It can be tortuous as you know but true fans stick by during the good & bad times. We all want the best for the Mets. They have let too many good ones go which is why we find ourselves lagging behind the Phils & Braves. Hopefully the David Stearns era is one of sustained success as his track record would suggest. An MLB starting pitcher was “allowed” to complete a game? Manager and pitching coach will be immediately fired by the collective “wisdom” of baseball pitching coaches, managers and GM’s. Also Lugo will be ostracized for life by other starters for “showing them up.”

They totally misused Lugo too. He wanted to be a starter and obviously has the wide pitch arsenal to be a starter...but was typecast as a reliever. When you have that many pitches it's kind of a waste to only pitch 1 or 2 innings...

I guess it's fine to ask a guy to go to the bullpen if he can help the team there for a while, and he did a great job, but it went on too long, and then the time came to make him a starter they let him go. Maybe they thought they had ruined him for starting, but the fact that they also let Wheeler go tells me they didn't quite appreciate the pitching talent they had.
