This SHOULDVE been canon. Tien was an OG and quite literally everybody forgets how he has a technique that can reflect a Kamehameha no sweat among his other badass techniques. It makes sense for Tien to push himself like this as he has a martial artist's pride and that defined his switch to the good side. Leaving behind the Kaioken after Goku unlocked SSJ felt like such a waste, so it would've been reasonable for Tien to pick it up and master it. He'd still be relevant while the Saiyans also had their place in the spotlight. Giving Tien this boost would've given him the absolute respect he definitely deserves. Big props to Erlang, his art is insane and he did our boy justice.

I feel like it should had deff been gravity training, kaioken, getting ultimate, and learning god ki in super. They have had so many times they could had easily gotten stronger. For example using the time chamber during the cell saga for which they passed up on it for some reason. They don't have to be as strong as Goku, Vegeta, or Gohan, just make it where if say, Tien holds off cell for a bit with the tri beam [Very cool momment, but the logic behind it only works if you just say because it looks cool] before that happened he was doing gravity training and was using the kaioken it would make far more sense. Or Krillin getting into a slight beam crash with SSB Goku, it would make more sense because Krillin at that time would had been training to get god ki, using ultimate/kaioken, and has done a lot of training besides that. With piccolo getting orange and clearly becoming more reveleant in terms of power, maybe something similar will happen with the earthlings.

Call me wrong for thinking this but it feels like the Tri-Beam has one of the single highest power amps in DB that we know of. Up there with moves like the Final Flash that would have allowed Vegeta to kill Perfect Cell. A human fighter weaker than Frieza bridging the gap between him and 2nd form Cell with a single Ki Move alone? That's impressive. I feel like it just seems weaker than it is because no one in DB-DBS has used it aside from Tien. But just imagine if someone STRONGER than Tien like Goku bothered to learn the Tri-Beam? Or even the Neo-Tri-Beam! I feel like sometimes we seem to forget how damn potent this move really is, because no one aside from Tien has used it.

Something that's worth pointing out is that so many fights would play out so differently simply because Tien isn't a Saiyan that wants to play and test his opponent instead of fight for real. He's also willing to die to save the world, so there's all kinds of situations where this Tien would just roll up, pummel his opponents until they were stunned, then hit 'em with a big ki blast to vaporize them in the first seconds of the battle. Omega Shenron would probably just get a Kaio-Ken x75 Tribeam to the face as soon as he showed up.

The only reason its usually measured in terms of how much their max power increases is because it's simply an amplification of their resting power and it's convenient and more easy to compare like, who would survive who's most powerful attack.
