Kurapika is by far the most versatile and sophisticated Nen user in the entire series, he became that in the same time it took Gon and Killua to barely grasp the most basic Nen concepts. I think only in the recent arc have we come across comparable characters such as Beyond, Ging and some of the princes. Gon and Killua are nowhere near this level, it makes sense that they don't participate in the current arc, as their abilities would be absolutely useless in the succession war. I hope we will get to see a much improved version of them in the actual dark continent arc that is surely coming given Togashi stays healthy.

It’s hard to tell considering it’s not clear when/how Emperor Time’s tradeoff arose. Was he losing years off his lifespan as a child? Somehow, I highly doubt that. And now that he’s formally trained in nen, he should have a longer lifespan.

@@blackprotagonist considering Netero was 120 years old and can still be considered the strongest human on earth, his true life span without being killed would easily crank up to 150 or even 200 or beyond, then Hisoka can at least make it to 100 no doubt, so even at max he reduces 30-40 years of his life (now maybe he spent 5-10 years, and obviously he won't repeat the silly mistake of sleeping while turning Emperor Time on), he could live up to 60 or 70, which is also a good number. And that is the minimum. Considering Hisoka is one of the best Nen user in the story, that number can go much higher, so we can say Hisoka can have potential to have the same lifespan as Netero, so even with heavy Emperor time use, he can still live up to 100 easily if he has that said potential.

When uvogin talks about his power he certainly is not omniscient so there's no reason to believe his judgement is absolute to all non-enhancers. The highest estimation would be that of chrollo (does he know hisokas power?) who is a specialist, which at that time were presented as a completely external and unpredictable category. But yeah hes at least 5 times stronger than Feitan.

Also one misconception about emperor time is it gives Kurapika 100% in all Nen types like he was born with all categories as a natural born. No that’s not the case ET gives him 100% “force and accuracy” (look up Nen in HxH Wikipedia and it has references). Kurapika with ET maxes out his categories, for a Comjuror who to our needing to train in those categories. Meaning 80% in adjacent categories, 60% for the next furthest and 40% for the furthest But even with these boosts, he won’t unleash as potent of a Hatsu as natural born. This is when “efficiency” comes to play. Kurapika can only reach 60% in enhancement for example. Meaning while he can reach the same level as a natural born enhancer, his efficiency aka how much power he can output will pale to an enhancer of the same level (lv 6). Nen is categorized into levels based on how strong the Hatsu is. Lv 1 the lowest and 10 the highest(this is your natural born affinity in play)

No; it’s the opposite. When Kurapika activates Emperor Time, he CAN use 100% of his aura efficiently in all six Nen categories as if he were born with them. However, Emperor Time doesn’t automatically make him a master of techniques in all categories. This is what the chart was trying to explain. It just lets him use his aura more efficiently across them - which no other nen user can do. To truly master skills in other categories, he would still need to train extensively. He’s pretty much the Avatar of HxH, except related more to his aura vs. refined technique.

In term of combat abilities Kurapika is in the top tires of Phantom troupe and low tiers of Zodiacs (guesstimation) but it’s his intellect that puts him in the top tiers of hxh verse. He is on the same tier of Beyond, Issac and Ging intelligence levels and above the likes of Chrollo and Pariston (though Pariston hasn’t really tried to win his battles yet I think). Which makes it a scary combo putting Kurapika in a very special one of a kind place.

To me, Emperor Time and Kurapika's abilities have 2 problems: 1) not enough emphasis is given to the fact that ET works (or USED to work) only when Kurapika was angry/in an excited emotional state. This could make ET pretty balanced, because technically it shouldn't be easy to enter in that state immediately and keeping it for as long as you need to finish the battle. And, emotionally speaking, it should be draining and soo harmful: always keeping your emotional state at the verge of anger so that you can activate it immediately isn't good for your happiness or health. And also, ET works a bit like coffee: it doesn't give you more energy, but it makes you use all the energy that you alredy have in your body. That means that if you stop ET during a battle, not only you can no longer use the abilities that require it, but the loss of adrenaline might make you feel tired immediately. One last thing, fighting while you're angry isn't the best for keeping a cool head. That's why, at first, I used to believe that ET wasn't OP. The problem is that Kurapika has apparently learned to use it at will, and not enough thought is given to how he does it. He only said that it "takes time" sort of. But that is also the reason why I thought the new, harsh condition wasn't necessary. Why did Kurapika needed it? If he needs it to do what he does in ET, it means that the scarlet eyes aren't enough on their own, so that the advantage that they give would be basically inexistent. My hope is that Kurapika implemented it partially to take away some of the physical toll of ET, but especially to activate it at will, without any need to get angry (but also to make his current abilities even more powerful, why not). That would explain a lot of things. I hope we'll learn more about that. 2) This is the more technical problem, and it's about the limits of ET. If we exclude Chain Jail, ET lacks in offensive abilities. Steal Chain and Stealth Dolphin could be the only offensive tools, but their use is quite unpredictable and difficult to plan in advance. You don't know if you'll get close enough to your target to use them, you don't know your target's ability, and you can use the stolen ability only once. Even if you steal an ability in advance, you only have one shot to use it efficiently. Against the Spider, Kurapika's chains are pretty balanced: there's one offensive ability (Chain Jail), and few abilities that act as a support. But if he doesn't have Chain Jail, his whole strategy would rely only on the unpredictable Steal Chain. Ok, actually, a correction: ET also gives him a huge physical boots. So, his most offensive ability would be his fists. But even if he fights as an Enhancer, he's still weaker than a normal Enhancer of his level. Still, Kurapika's main strengh isn't his 5 chains, but a combination of Enhancement and Steal Chain.

What people don’t understand about Kurapika is his potential depends on who he is facing. Kurapika is strong and skilled on his own but he will NEVER be as strong towards an opponent not a Troupe member like he was against Uvo. Kurapika, on top of his Scarlett eyes aura boost, also got a boost due to fighting a troupe member. Kurapika would’ve lost without chain jail. Once Uvo used his full power, he was able to outpace Kurapika and shatter his arm easily, with that punch in another spot like his chest, head or back being lethal. Kurapika needed to use chain jail there to beat Uvo and tricked him. Kurapika had a plan, made sure it was a 1v1 fight and tricked Uvo by keeping his chains visible, making it seem like he is a manipulator and that the chains cannot be hidden with In He keeps his chains visible in the current arc for that reason too. Again, this is not to downplay Kurapika. He is strong. But his level or potential is not on par with Gon or Killua, especially the former. Kurapika likely cannot take on multiple Troupe members at once. He and Pogunaga already stated no member dna be caught by a chain 25-30 meters away if they are on guard Just fyi, Kurapika stated his chains can capture someone up to 30 meters away in less than a second
