I imagine the conjuration was his way of being able to use his mach speed movements in a much wider area. The restrictions would've been crazy. Three categories of nen used in a hatsu. Even Xeno felt the time warp just by being next to him when he hit Pitou

Plus if it was conjured Meruem could just destroy it since you can't conjure anything indestructible

Netero has very clear scaling that places him way above the entire Phantom Troupe, for example, and I also can't imagine most humans having a solution to his ability.

@BeeruzChrysler Consider these two counterpoints: #1: Netero is the most powerful enhancer we've witnessed. It stands to reason that his durability is more than enough to withstand his own slaps. Presumably, he's miles above Uvogin. #2: The more important point, Meruem and Pitou were helpless to react to Netero's attacks. Meruem chose to simply give up and tank them while seeking an opening. If Meruem can't react to the attacks, what hope does Chrollo have, let alone Goreinu have?

And I understand that in HxH, weaker characters can still have a chance against stronger characters if the conditions are right, but it's also critical to understand that HxH also allows for insurmountable gaps, as shown by Bisky. So the thing we're actually imagining here is a character with faster reaction time than Meruem, with the power to switch places with his opponent instantly. If such a character existed, and the other assumptions we're making about Netero's defenses and his direct attachment to his ability are correct, then sure. I never intended to disagree with a hypothetical like that.

@@BeeruzChrysler Once again, I find that we're agreeing on several things here, but arguing over details. Some of which are important in my opinion. First, I don't agree at all that what we see from Pitou's reaction indicates that their reaction speed exceeds Meruem's at any point. Especially in the anime, where we spend much more time with Meruem admiring Netero's first attack just before it happens, and also where we interrupt the attack on Pitou for Zeno to explain that Pitou was experiencing time dilation. While it's not impossible for me to imagine Pitou's reactions or senses being sharper, I don't think it's a reasonable thing to state with confidence. I'm far more inclined to believe Meruem exceeds all three of the guard in every category by a lot. Second, I actually agree with you completely that Killua outspeeds post-mortem Pitou, who is most likely faster than living Pitou. It's a controversial opinion, but definitely one that's rooted in strong evidence, in my opinion. That said, we're still making a fair few assumptions to arrive at a character's ability to deal with Netero. Third, I really don't think stealing Killua's ability would even work for Chrollo, unless he also underwent some extreme electricity torture training. Further, it's not clear how much Godspeed relies on Killua's innate reaction speeds. He's got lots of feats outside of Godspeed that would be hard to scale against Chrollo, even as far back as when he was watching Gon's fight against Hanzo, or when he caught the whips in Heaven's Arena, or when he dismantled the mosquito ant's arms mid-attack, etc. To be clear, I'm not trying to indicate that Netero is unkillable or unbeatable by humans or anything like that. Just that he's far above what's been demonstrated by the Troupe (barring Chrollo's clash with two Zoldycks). I could even see Chrollo winning instantly by just throwing out Shalnark's needle and teleporting Netero into the path of the projectile, but sadly we don't know much about the teleportation ability he already has.

i can't elaborate on why, but in my head canon i always thought he was second only to the king. he can overcome vast power gaps (meaning he can beat up people stronger than himself in base stats) with technique alone. the royal guard might have been stronger, but the gap was NOT wide enough, plus they're were not wise enough. they would get toyed with like insects. in fact if the king hadn't leaned so much from komugi, i'm fairly sure netero would have beaten him too, despite the massive gulf.

For the Zodiacs: I just want to mention that Parriston was surprised that Ging was about to let him see what his "ability" is, which implies that the rest of the Zodiac don't actually know much about what Ging can do and arguably don't know much about what each other can do either. This makes me think that any kind of group sparring with Netero didn't invovle the Zodiacs (or at least Ging) using any Hatsu. Alternatively this could mean that Netero only ever sparred 1v1 with them.

20:35 En range and the distance your nen can be felt are two different things. Zeno was stated as having an impressive en range of 300 meters. But Killua was able to sense Illumi in the scene where he got mad at Hisoka from a distance that looked more than that. I wouldn't conclude from this that Illumi's en range surpasses Zenos.

En is very specifically the range in which you can use your nen aura as a very refined sensory organ. The range in which you can touch and, more importantly, feel someone with your aura. You can haphazardly power up your nen aura and extend the aura very far just due to its strength, and nen users can feel that aura with no issue. However, that doesn't mean that the powered up user of their nen aura can feel what is going on with that aura. That requires using En to essentially give nerves to that aura to sense things. We don't know the range of Netero's En, and but we do know Zeno's En is near the limit for typical nen users at 300m.

For those interested, I'll try to explain the mechanics of Netero's ability: The bodhisattva is a conjuration and manipulation ability. While his aura type of enhancement makes this weaker, this is made up for by the restrictions placed on it. Overall, I'd say the attacks of the bodhisattva are probably comparable to his physical attacks, with two main differences. First, reach. This gives him a ton of flexibility when he activates his time compression against massively faster opponents. Second, it costs no aura. We know that this is the case both based in his certainty he could outlast someone with a massively larger aura pool, and the statement that he used every drop of aura for zero hand. How could it cost no aura, you ask? Well, he has to put in aura to conjure the statue, but he can simply reclaim it and re use it to summon it again. He uses manipulation to move it, but he doesn't consume aura unless he puts aura into his attacks. Which explains why it doesn't damage even Pitou; the attacks are purely physical. The hundred type guanyin bodhisattva isn't meant to defeat opponents. Its meant to wear them down by forcing them to expend aura to protect themselves while Netero spends none, until they're weak enough for zero hand to destroy them completely. Zero hand also has the crazy condition of needing days of preparation before use, so his entire aura is probably multiplied by 5 or so.

One Important thing to note, is that netero never said he himself was in the top 5. And I may be wrong but it’s never stated that he is in the top 5 by anyone else or the narrator either. So ging isn’t necessarily below netero (especially old netero). This is purely headcanon but I honestly think we have only seen 2 maybe 3 of the top 5 nen users, and none of them have showed their abilities. (Ging being the only one confirmed).

I would consider the sole condition of "I can only use this power against the spiders" a much more limiting restriction than the one you've given and Kurapikas master said that one wasn't very strong it only became a powerful condition once he added the death clause so I doubt it would go beyond a miniscule power boost

In my honest opinion meruem was still determined to become king, albeit with less evil intentions. However that's still in direct conflict to what Netero was fighting for. As well as that Meruem only admired Netero through combat, so if they were to fight he probably wouldn't be swayed to end his rule, considering he just met Netero. So I believe nothing would have changed.

I usually agree with nearly every word of your HxH videos, but I know we've debated about Netero before, and I still completely disagree with the conclusions you're drawing from these things. In many cases, it seems like you're overlooking critical things that directly contradict your own arguments. For example: You seem completely convinced that Ging can't possibly be above Netero because Netero doesn't see Ging as the challenge he's sought all this time. Then you go on to show that Netero also had zero interest in fighting a Royal Guard, despite them being stated not once, not twice, but THREE times to be stronger than Netero by three different sources (Killua, Colt and Netero himself). That should make alarmingly clear that what Netero was actually seeking is a fight that's nearly unwinnable. I also find that you understate all of the things Netero says and instead focus exclusively on what Morel and Knov say, despite the fact that Morel and Knov are demonstrably bad sources. Both of them dramatically underestimate the guard, with Knov practically losing his mind after just making contact with the (arguably) weakest guard's en. And Morel boasting that you can't objectively compare the odds of victory between two nen users. Basically every HxH video you've made can only exist on the basis that Morel is wrong about this. Bisky's explanation with the chart makes far more sense, and allows for insurmountable gaps in raw power, which absolutely exist in this series, particularly with the guard. When Netero says "It's been half a century since I was the strongest among nen-users", there is truly zero reason to believe he's lying. It's obviously very clear that he was being modest when he said that he's only as strong as Morel and Knov, as we can literally see him being far above them, but what's important about that statement, regardless of modesty, is that Netero feels he's become far far weaker than his prime. For Netero to say that Ging is currently in the top 5 nen users alive, and also say multiple times how far removed he (Netero) is from his prime, it feels very disingenuous to say with any confidence that Netero is still above Ging. One final note on the topic of Ging vs Netero, is actually the direct comparisons to Gon. Gon is regularly compared to Ging, and Ging was seemingly able to predict years of Gon's life by simply expecting Gon to act as he would. So I don't think it's a stretch at all to imagine that Gon's talent is likely extremely similar to what Ging's was at the same age. And based on that, I don't think it's a stretch at all to imagine that Ging as an adult may be similar in strength to Gon as an adult. The same Gon that Pitou saw as being equal to or a threat to the King himself, before Gon even finished powering up. Pitou notably did not have that reaction to Netero at all, and it's also easy to see that Meruem was considerably more powerful than Netero. So for Gon to be seen as either directly equal to, or the most significant threat to the King, that places him securely above Netero in terms of raw power as an adult. If Ging is anywhere near that (which he very well may be), then it's very easy to imagine him being directly superior to Netero in raw power.

@@Zeno1781 Lots to unpack there. Firstly, we know almost nothing at all about Maha. The Netero "survive" feat is something I see mentioned all the time, and it's completely worthless. We have no idea what "survive" even means, or any detail about the outcome of the fight. We also have no idea how close to "prime" Netero was, or Maha, for that matter. It literally only tells us that Netero didn't die. He still could have stomped in the fight, or that could have been a pre-prime Netero, or any number of other things. As for the Killua thing, I can only assume you're talking about Zeno's quote about Killua being the "most talented Zoldyck". And as for Bisky, I don't remember her saying that word for word, but I'm also quite sure that she only knows Ging by reputation. She hasn't met him, to determine his talent for herself, if that's what you mean. She says "Ging? Sure I know him, he's famous."

the truth is Netero can not defeat any of the royal guard. He knew for sure that defeating king is the priority as it can leave royal guards order less. From start he knew it was a suicide mission and chances of winning are slim to nothing even with rose in his arsenal but thanks to Komugi here because of her the mission was a success, else I don't see any probability of hunters winning at all.

Nah I think netero is strong, but I think with the mystery of hunterxhunter I don’t think he’s currently top 3 when he died, I’d probably have him at number 5, with mureum being 1 rn, I think 234 will be filled by mysterious charecters, plus at a single point gon was stronger then netero. If that was gon’s max potential, then gon is above netero, but he’s definitely top game, we just don’t know who’s above him yet. the whole netero ignores pitou to challenge meruem point is kinda pointless, it's just a common thing in japanese fictions where people who are actively looking for a challenging fight will ignore the No2 and goes for the No1 regardless how strong No2 is, one of the example i can think of on the top of my head is both vegeta and goku ignores toppo and tries to challenge jiren despite toppo being pretty evenly matched with them (potentially even stronger than them) and would be a better fight for them

Netero is like the gandalf of this world. He knows everybody, even their parents and grandparents. But the only difference is that netero is pretty villainous. He doesnt care about humans or morals. He just wants to fight the most powerfull people. You will be your true self when you're about to die. Well, right before netero was about to die he shamed himself for turning into a humble and respectfull person. He despised himself for letting people bow for him after he beat them. I don't want to say that it is certain that he is as strong as prime netero, although netero says so, since he tends to underestimate his strength. but there is not enough information to give an answer, I don't think the argument that beyond obeys netero is strong enough, it can obey him for many reasons, not only because netero is strong than him. Yeah Netero being the strongest hunter has been pretty consistent through statements and portrayal especially in the Chimera ants arc He's far stronger than characters like Chrollo or Hisoka and around probably weaker than the royal guards but still can defeat them as he doesn't even bothered to fight them bc he wants an unbeatable opponent which only Meruem is.
