That was a horrible take by K Mart... do the math. If LaMelo shots 13 threes at 43% and drops that to 8 threes... that means he takes 5 shots from 2 instead of 3... cool. Those 5 threes would be 6 points at 43%... 5 twos would be 4 to 6 points at 50%... Now take into account the energy expended to drive to the basket... fouls .. potential injuries... Every big man has the green light to shoot threes for some reason and they shoot 20-30% a lot of the time. That is just a wasted posession at that point. You just have to look at the rest of the team's 2pt fg percentage and compare it to their 3pt% then check what percentage they'd have to shoot on 2pt field goals to make it more efficient than a 30% 3pt shooter.

The rest of the NBA is just no defense, jacking up 3's. Even last night I saw GSW get a steal in the open court and pull up for a 3 when it was 3 on 1 fast break. Lindy Waters hit the 3, but I was like "That was a terrible shot selection.." They panned to Kerr and he even looked puzzled, because they were trailing...

Whats extremely alarming, is after that game where the Bulls and Hornets missed the most 3s in a single game in history, Ayo Dosunmu was asked a question and he word for word said: "We got up 51 threes, so thats good". Why thats alarming, is thes eguys DONT SEE THE PROBLEM. They literally do not care how many they miss or what the percentage is, because analytics say if you shoot more 3s you have a higher chance of making more 3s, and if you make more 3s you have a higher chance of winning the game. Its simple math to these teams now. Chuck more 3s up you increase your chances of winning. This is SO detrimental to the sport and this is just the surface of hoe bad it can be. This will have a serious lasting impact on the purity of the game.

It kind of ruined it for me because what's the point of playing defense or smart basketball if all you're going to do is watch somebody jack up threes on a fast break when you see me literally running towards the rim? It's not cool to see a 7''5" player (Wemby) shot 9 three-point shots a game when he's so good and big that no one can stop him from scoring on the inside. My children might watch the NBA finals and my grandchildren who are in their 20s don’t want to have anything to do with it. It is their friends and my grandchildren’s friends are exactly like this. And we can even go to the success of KZbin shows like this. People are more interested in hearing what former athletes are saying than even the General highlights. It’s not the nerds, it’s the owners who hire them. If you’re gonna treat an NBA franchise like it’s one of your toys, then the league should take that team away from you. There is no way you can’t see this style of play isn’t working for your team. Viewership being down is a myth, there’s a lot of people illegally streaming games so it doesn’t count towards the ratings. The NBA keeps growing globally, so they’re making a lot of money and these owners only care about that fact. It’s all about the bottom line and you can’t have owners with that mindset. You’re letting some nerd who never played basketball convince you how basketball is played. They don’t understand any nuances and there evaluations have no context.

There is a reason teams are shooting that many threes, just look at the Celtics its simple math. When healthy they have a whole starting line up of shooters, even their 7'2 Center is a sniper. And then 1-2 on the bench and a Steph Curry level shooter in Pritchard this season. They don't even have to shoot that well to win games. They shoot like 50 threes a game TEN MORE THAN THE 2ND PLACE IN 3PA. And they make 37% of them on average which is really good. You basically have to hope they not hitting their shots to have a chance, cause its almost impossible beating them when they shooting like that. Don't forget that a guy like Pritchard can always get hit and hit like 3-4 in a row. You may not like it, but its the most effective way to play basketball in the modern NBA.

Slightly disagree. Move the 3pt. line back by 2feet, bring back hand checking, bring back 5 seconds in the paint. The reason they refuse to do so, is because they want the bloated stats to justify certain players ‘GOAT’ status (🙄) and for gambling parlay reasons, we will continue to not watch, and the game we love will keep failing.

Someone like Wemby ain’t going to perfect his moves if he gets comfortable shooting 8+ a game. He’s too good to not want the ball downlow or midrange more often and create more depth to his game. Imagine if the financial institutions had an exploit this crazy. Well, every single institution would clamor to exploit it to the fullest extent until new laws were instituted to level the exploit.
