In this clip, Louise outlines the impact that the sexual revolution had on men, in particular. She makes the case that although some men benefited, or at least had a greater ability to live as they pleased, on the whole, this came at the cost of the majority of men.

2:20 Whether she has just realised, or she’s trying to navigate around it, she too is concentrating on the top 10% of men. John asked: “ where are all the good men?”. Her response: “ They’re running around being Hugh Hefner’s”. If she wasn’t preoccupying her time with high status men, she would see the ground swell of “good men” available who don’t get seen.

She's very good-looking, easily in the top tier of women, and is also intellectual, so she has no business doubting her right to a high-status man. After all it's not like she'll ever consider marrying a truck driver or a warehouse worker (regardless of their intellectual, physical or other qualities). We grew up with mothers and grandmas who really believed in right and wrong & had a sense of mercy, the women my age had none of those virtues & fought for their own aggrandizement. It made getting laid competitive and we had to cast aside the sensitive traits of the "nice guy" we always believed the world should be kinder to.

"Good man" to most people is someone who will commit, provide, be decent to her, etc. A "good man" to her and many other woman is a man who is at the top percentile in terms of looks and wealth, regardless of their other traits. There's a disconnect between people when defining a "good man" in the context of asking the question "Where have all the good men gone?", and the answer to that question depends on your definition

@@EmeraldaKasim it is true. Men find women who are the most attractive between 18 and 30 years. The speech of this society is that women who are 30+ are used goods, rotten goods. That’s why dating after 30 is harder for women and most women who are 30+ and don’t have a partner is more likely to stay single and never marry or have children, despite the fact that they still are fertile. Women age between 18 to 30 represent 10% of women’s population. Excluded overweight and it’s like 7%. @nikokapanen82
@nikokapanen82 9 ай бұрын
Yes, but this was the whole point in this conversation that in today's society, where getting married is no longer a norm, the top 10-20% of men are getting all the women and the rest are pretty much getting none. You see how it goes. Since it is no longer about lifelong committed marital relationship, it is all about some short time, maybe a few weeks lasting fun and then both go different paths, women are naturally seeking the best of men for such fun, they do not want average nobodies, and therefore the best looking the best earning men have lots of women to have fun with. Many women remain single most of the time because they are seeking only for the best of men who are most of the time dating other women but then, from time to time, they get to date them as well because the best of men changes their dates all the time. Yet the average nobodies are then left without women completely. So, most women are dating but only occasionally when they get the opportunity to get the best of men but when it comes to men, the best of them is dating all the time but the lowest ones are dating nobody at all. This is of course a raw exaggeration but the statistics show that this is becoming more and more real for more and more men.

The language here is priceless. She says that when given complete freedom, "people" choose polygyny. "People" do not choose it, women choose it, and her otherwise correct explanation describes that quite clearly. Then she says that this is bad for women especially, ignoring the disenfranchised men. Never ceases to amaze me, but there are indeed some things that women's brains are simply unable to process, and you see it demonstrated time and time again.

In her defense, how can she admit the truth? Men are meant to 'rule over' their wives. She would have to admit the patriarchy is a good thing for women.

The thing is the whole argument she is making tethering women to motherhood so fiercely only harms men, it ultimately leads men to spend all their lives away from the families she claims are so important while women get to wallow in motherhood and be provided for financially indefinitely. She's completely self centered. Some women dont want to be away from their kids so they are fighting tooth and nail to secure a system where they can get sponsored...This is why women like her hate feminism, they don't want to be responsible for themselves.

Interesting how she avoided addressing the average man who is ignored by most women. An where the 'good men' have gone is invisible to most women. Even more so because those good guys took MeToo to heart and don't want to be a source of distress to a woman. But since everything can be "creepy" or "aggressive" to a woman, the only rational path for a man who doesn't want to feel he's distressed a women is to just leave them alone. So the women get more of the men who aren't "good", i.e., who don't care about a woman not wanting their approach, approaching.

@goweresque

The massive elephant in the room that she studiously avoids is the divorce laws. The reason men are not bothering with marriage and long term relationships is not only that they want to 'play the field' (thats certainly a part of it at younger ages) its that there is absolutely nothing in LTRs for men. If you are married you can be divorced in an instant against your will, lose access to your kids and half (or more) of your assets. If you are not married you can still lose access to your children, though you make keep more of your assets (though feminists are working on that little problem). This is why men aren't entering LTRs, even when they get to ages that most would probably fancy settling down - LTRs and marriage are fundamentally biased in favour of women, and men have noticed. The only way to win is not to play the game........

Before divorce was easy to access a man knew that marriage kinda meant he had her for life. He knew it would take something big for her to get divorce. That made the man feel more comfortable into entering the marriage. LTR’s are long term investments, and the more you’re going to invest into something the bigger the rewards need to be. In business would a company accept a deal where they might spends millions of dollars only for the other side to easily leave it at a whim? No, unless there was an good insurance policy

I remember being a kid in the 90s and connecting these dots; I also vividly remember a group of women grabbing me by my shoulders, forcing me down into a sitting position, encircling me and quite literally refusing to let me leave until I renounced what I discovered and started parroting their feminist talking points. That's all I needed to know. The reason that women in their 30s and 40s can't find good men? Is because those same good men now in their 30s and 40s can do what they couldn't do when they were ages 21 through 25 AKA sleep with women that are aged 21 through 25. Women love to rub it in men's faces that they get to do everything and anything and have all the power in their teenage and twenties however they always forget that all the gifts that mother nature gives them in their teens and twenties? Father time starts taking away in their 30s and then that scale between men and women? Well, women start off at the top and they start gradually going down whereas Men start off at the bottom and start gradually going up. And don't get it twisted; most of us men do not pity these women at all. They had their time to shine, they had their chances. Go ahead and ask any of them; they had opportunities and plenty of male orbiters however they were young and hot and had plenty of time each one will tell you so they stiffed every guy that was worth a darn and instead chose to sleep around with Chad Brad Tyrone one Julio and whoever else was smooth enough to get in between their legs.

You could be a sociopath that loves nothing more than to run through women like nothing and you will still be a good man to those women while the actual good men on character won't be seen. Good on this context means good match genetically. Offering best chances of offspring survival. Whether you are a good person who goes to church loves their momma and stays out of trouble means nothing to your genetic quality. Stop thinking about good in terms of your character and you will stop being confused when women keep asking where good men are.

I disagree with her about freedom. Freedom isn't always about freedom from, it can also be freedom to. We thought that throwing away restraint was freedom but in fact it enslaves people to dysfunction. It's a false freedom. Personal chosen restraint is a freedom to. One of the main problems I see is that society all our lives tells us what freedom is. In other words, it's always yes, not the freedom to say no. And at the same time, trains us away from our own instinctual conscience. Then we no longer trust this failsafe mechanism. We rely on every expert on the subject at hand, and inevitably go astray from ourselves.

Well, actually, the outcomes for men tend to be even worse, but we ignore them because as long as a man is killed by a another man, it doesn't count. It has been said that 10% of the fishermen catch 90% of the fish. And it's true as far as I have seen over 60+ years - both in fishing and in getting laid. The top 10% of men are attractive and confident. That's what 90% of women want, so the formula is transcendent. Like 10% of guys who fish, they attractive males are focused on being attracive, ans so, they know where to go to "fish." That means: Bars and other places where hookups are common.

Yes, this modern way of living where marital relationship is no longer interesting but a few weeks lasting fun dating is very attractive made the best 10% of men to be overwhelmed with dating opportunities, then women to have sometimes the opportunity to date such a man because all the women need to share this best of men from time to time, therefore most women stay single most of the time, waiting for such a man to appear and then the average loser guys are left out of dating life completely.

@@nikokapanen82 I agree. And, there are enough 10% males to go around. I don't think the top 50% attractive females miss the 90% of the men who have given up. When it's Game Time, they don't care. These videos showing sad women complaining of the lack of 'good' men are just alligator tears. When the music starts and the lights are right, they couldn't care less if bar is full of 10 percenters who they know will be players. I have no solution for the young people today. @@lovejunkie490 Whatever the dynamics are, the bottom line is that women want the Top guys, and men want the Top women. However, nature has given women the choice. Any woman can get glammed up for the night and pretty much any woman can get laid. Yes. The Top guys are more prone to be shallow and predatorial than most other men. That was the analogy I alluded to with the best, most successful fishers; They plan it, they know where to go, when to be there, and they don't care if they don't land a fish that day. They know there will be others tomorrow. Most importantly, they don't care if they DO land a fish. It's expected. Another aspect of this current trend is that if an average guy Goes Hid Own Way, the women don't even know it. They dont care one wit. Why? Because of that nature thing, and the fact that they know they are sitting on a gold mine. With fewer and fewer people being church members and more and more people living Virtual Live on-line, the furure looks bleak. We're not the same civilzation we were 40 years ago.

At around the 4:10 mark, she says human beings are polyamorous by nature and says high status men get most of the women in ancient cultures and the lower classes get no wives. I’m aware high status leaders in ancient cultures had multiple wives (concubines) but i thought low status men had monogamy for the most part. Anyone want to comment?
@Sensorium19
@Sensorium19 9 ай бұрын
Saying "it's complicated" is a cop out, but the specific conditions and time periods matter a lot. What she is talking about is backed up by several different things. The most significant is genetic evidence that indicates that over the history of human beings as a species, only one third of men left children, while two thirds of women left children. This is mostly the result of what happened in pre-history. In historic periods actual practices and results varied greatly, but there is tendency toward polygyny in primitive or tribal cultures. Some empire level cultures, such as the islamic ones, also had these types of practices. Even in Christianized European cultures, there would have been tendencies for poor men to remain unmarried, or without committed partners. These are all great generalizations, but I think they do represent something accurate.

@@Sensorium19can you provide sources about polygyny in pre-historic societies? I heard they were matrilineal/matriarchal,more communal and closer to egalitarian than modern societies are.

@@greeshmavarghese6473 I don't have the paper reference on me at the moment. Search "Is There Anything Good About Men? And Other Tricky Questions By John Tierney" That will take you to a brief article about Roy Baumeisters book "Is There Anything Good About Men?" which is where I first heard the reference. Regarding your impression of prehistoric cultures, there are certainly more matriarchal tribal societies than there are at further stages of technical development, but they are not universally matriarchal as far as I know. Hunter-gather societies do tend toward egalitarianism in distributing food, but not mates. That is my understanding, anyway.

Lol. How does the math work out? If high status men get multiple women, and you assume a roughly 50/50 balance in the genders, that means there aren't enough women to go around for the bottom percentiles of men. And genetic research has confirmed that only 40% of men have procreated throughout history.

It has harmed men and women, casual intimacy devalues said intimacy. Chastity until marriage was encouraged and celebrated once upon a time and marriages were more stable. A woman's ability to pair bond is strongest with their first partner.

The women assume you HAVE OTHER OPTIONS and therefore are likely to cease the relationship to protect themselves from rejection coming with a man being the object of desire of another and the woman feeling powerless.
