I'm a Brazilian and never really cared much about baseball and last year, out of pure boredom and just 'cause I'd signed up for Star+ and happened to have MLB games broadcast at my disposal almost everyday, I decided to give it a shot and try to learn more about it. I've always wanted to visit the city of San Francisco, so, right off the bat, I decided I'd be supporting the SF Giants, but the MLB was heading into the post-season and I learned the Giants hadn't classified, so I'd have to pick another team to watch. The D'backs just so happened to be the team whose games coincided the most with my free time, so I naturally watched their games more often than not. Ended up getting entirely hooked thanks to their audacity on the field, their teamwork and, of course, 'cause everyone loves an underdog. Watching them lose the World Series hurt more than seeing my soccer team get relegated tbh, which is freaking wild considering I couldn't care less about baseball by this time last year. Long story short, long live baseball and the team that made me love it. Let's go D'backs!

As a D-backs fan, it was exhilarating to see my team get all the way to the WS, something I thought wouldn't happen for a long time since the first time they did I was too young. I've always been a casual sports fan, but this run has made me keep a finer eye in sports (especially in regards to baseball). The breakdown of the Kimbrel-Marte matchup at the end of Game 3 is a great example of how statistics don't always tell the whole story. On paper, it seemed quite unlikely for Marte to get a hit after falling behind 0-1. But in the real world, everyone and their mother knew that the guy on a monster hitting streak was going to walk it off against the perennial choke artist.

The worst team swept division winning Brewers and Dodgers (yes I know they seem to often choke in October) but it was impressive how they won so easily against those teams. They also won the last 2 games of the NLCS while on the road. Quite an achievement for the worst team.
