My amazing and talented wife Lisa is releasing her new book Radical Confidence, which you can preorder - and get the bonuses she’s created for you - at www.radicalconfidence.com. When you read this book, Lisa will teach you 10 No-BS Life Lessons to become the hero of your own life and take MASSIVE bold action to achieve your potential!
Are you feeling you are lacking motivation or are unsure how to achieve your goals? Then head on over to unstuck.impacttheory.com. There you can register and get access to a free workshop.
If you’re like most people, odds are that you’re not exactly where you want to be in life.
But no matter what your definition of success is, or what you’re trying to accomplish, the simple truth is this: you’re not yet where you want to be because you don’t yet have the skills required to get there.
In this talk at the Ice House in Pasadena, CA, I dive deep into the hard truths about what it takes to become extraordinary, regardless of what you’re pursuing.
If you’re feeling stuck, lacking ambition, or just don’t think you’re good enough to get where you want to go, then buckle up because this talk will shake you out of your comfort zone and get you back on track to pursuing a life of fulfillment!
SHOW NOTES:
00:00 | Ambition vs. Drive
11:12 | Self-Worth and Achievement
19:07 | Grit Isn’t Sexy
30:34 | Permission to Fail
39:13 | The Ultimate Adaptation Machine
45:39 | The Brain That Changes Itself
56:28 | Being Average Is Enough
QUOTES:
“Fulfillment is often born of suffering. But it has to be suffering with a purpose.” [08:13]
“I'm not telling you not to chase money. I'm just saying it's not going to feed you emotionally the way you think it is.” [15:32]
“Facing what you've done wrong, owning it, accepting it, allows you to not make that mistake the next time.” [33:07]
“Every time something goes wrong in my life, I am asking myself one simple question. “What is it that I suck at?” I suck at something, there's something I'm doing wrong. By definition, if I were doing it right, then I would be getting the outcome that I wanted.” [37:50]
“The first step in this incredibly arduous journey that you're going to be on if you want to be extraordinary, is simply to believe you can become extraordinary.” [1:03:29]

So much true, no bullshit about believing and visualizing... Tom is such a great and honest speaker. as an athlet I know that success is all about your stamina - it's all about how long you can keep suffering but moving towards your goal. if you can sustain the pain longer than others you will win. life is all about suffering. it's the only way to grow. I realized how simple it is: if you can do things that must be done even though you hate doing these if you re constistent about doing those things - you will win.. I m a former runner. I was an overweight girl just like Goggings and one day I decided to change myself. running built my character.

Hey Tom, I love your videos. One thing I hear all the time about being successful is to identify the steps you need in-order to accomplish your goals and act on them each day. My question for you is, how do you figure out how to identify those steps and how to identify which one of those steps is the most important to work on in present time?
@BlkDiesel
@BlkDiesel 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Tyler Scott, I'm not Tom but I do have some advice for you being that I've done this a couple of times regarding goals I've set and achieved. I call the process "Reverse Engineering" also called "Begin with the End In Mind" and work your steps backwards lol. Once you set your intention/goal then first, try to find someone(s) who've achieved it and what steps did they use to close the gaps from where they were to where they wanted to go. Then Rinse and Repeat those steps, with adjustments for your personal goals and set intentional dates (this is important) to review and assess what is working and what is not along the way. As far as what steps are important and in what order, that depends on what you are looking to achieve. I.E. If the goal is to cut down a tree then the most important first step is to see if anyone else has cut down a tree like this before. Then second, what kind of tools do I need? What other resources will I need? Etc Etc. Than you go about the most important step that needs to happen first to begin. THEN YOU MUST BEGIN! Again, i'm not trying to substitute for Tom, but wanted to give insights to you that have worked for me. Hope there is a little value in my response for you. Be Elite Today!

Success is simply what happens when you unlock the patterns of functionality of a difficult and complex state of being or phenomena in the world. Our brains are pattern and recognition machines. The better you are at focusing your attention on a particular difficult subject the more success you unlock as your brain continues to recognize patterns surrounding it. Focusing on the patterns instead of the outcome…

Tom like I never heard him before! Not 2 minutes before he mentioned his home, I thought to myself; damn, I feel like I’m at Toms house shooting pool & sitting around a fire pit drinking beer. Lol👊🏾💙😎

What a great presentation. So much value. Had no idea you were from Tacoma. I'm just 30 minutes away. "Kid from Tacoma", haha. Says it all. 😂

Put in the FUCKING work, you might not be successful, none of us really know how the end game will look, but if you could look back and say you put in the fucking work every single day, then you won!

do you have discussions about climat change in your privatjet? do you think more successful people will save the planet ( people discussing climat change after having success sitting at least in a suv) ?

I think the "risk" part is a huge part of why people never achieve their goals, as the thought of putting your house up for collateral, or failing and not having money to pay for rent, food, etc. is scary as fuck. Also, I'm sure most of us have ideas like "I'd like to run a winery", "I'd like to open a wedding venue", or "I'd like to start own clothing line", etc. but the 'idea' and the actual day-to-day life of doing any one of these ideas are very different. An idea might be nice, but if you actually go all in in trying to achieve any of these ideas, you might learn through the process that it isn't so nice, or that you don't actually want that "thing" anymore and then you will have failed and are out of money and have nothing to show for it, other than the learning experience.
