Thank you for all your wonderful videos! Can you use the same material and technique behind the buttons? i am working with illusion back gown, no zipper just buttons and loops and the weight of the buttons is making waves and bunching at top. The length of back is correct. I believe it just needs more support.

Love how you wrapped the boning in ribbon. I had been sewing a satin tube casing, but this is easier and wouldn’t fray. Do you ever do a corset backing in sheer mesh? How do you handle the boning for that?
@ranjanamajumdar73024 жыл бұрын
What type of boning did you use ? Also did you sew over the boning ?
@mariaduszak29733 жыл бұрын
I always wondered why noone is using steel or spring steel boning in bridal? Not even synthetic baleen? They provide much more support at fraction the width, is there a specific reason only rigilene is used?
@BridalSewing3 жыл бұрын
I prefer rigilene because I can sew through it. It also doesn't require a solid channel like the steel bones do. There are dresses that require steel bones, especially the ones that need 4 way curves, but Rigilene is my most common go-to. It is also much lighter.

Curious, are seamstresses able to let out a dress in the waist and back when it has an illusion lace strapless bodice with boning and a zipper back? The back is mostly mesh with some flowers (Monique Lhuillier Willow dress for reference) I refuse to go with a lace corset, which is what I see all over the internet in aleration blogs. I am a 27 waist and it likely needs to be brought out to a 28/27.5, as the 27 is way too tight. Please help!
@BridalSewing4 жыл бұрын
It usually can be- even if it needs to be gusseted. Of course, this is subject to what your local sewist is capable of. I can't speak for all skill levels.

Greetings and salutations, Mrs. Brenda! I hope your Easter was amazing! I just wanted to check in with you, it's been a while! I have been super busy. This stay at home order has not hurt my business, thankfully! I was kinda glad to have the extra time to get ahead. The only dilemma I am having is that I can't order any tulle from London because of shipping restrictions. It's a special kind of tulle called "super fine tulle". Would you happen to know where some would be available in the U.S.? My brides go nuts for this specific tulle, it's so silky and does not resemble regular tulle at all. I'm currently tambour beading a cape I made and I was stuck with tulle from J***n's fabric store and it's awful. It's not holding up very well. I figured maybe you'd know about this unicorn tulle that's impossible to find stateside lol. It was worth a shot. Thank you, stay safe!
@BridalSewing4 жыл бұрын
I know exactly the tulle you are talking about. I use the same stuff and it comes from the same place. We are technically what they call "in a pinch." lol I've just been telling my brides that sourcing is restricted. We will pick back up on these projects when the restrictions are lifted. If you find us a US supplier, I'll mail you are free BST T-shirt. But you gotta prove it's the same stuff or 100% equivalent. I hope you are doing well, too!! Much love. -Brenda

@@BridalSewing Miss Brenda, any tips or tricks on getting dried fray check out of tulle? I'm tambour beading a cape I made and one of the loops came out crooked so I had to move it over an inch and by doing so it made a white glue spot on the tulle. I fray check my knots for extra hold. I've posted the progression of this project on the 'gram sew_you_next_tuesday Sewciopath Alterations. I'd love for you to see it!
@BridalSewing4 жыл бұрын
Have you sampled nail polish remover on a scrap of the tulle? My guess is that you'll need a solvent, but something that won't damage the fabric.
@watsonrefugee4 жыл бұрын
@@BridalSewing I ended up using denatured alcohol and got it all off! I was sweating it for a minute there! All that work ruined by glue spots, it was killing me lol.
