Good demonstration. However, I believe you can adjust the bottom of the pin extractor/installation tool by adjusting the thumbscrew on the bottom surface to properly align the extractor pin of the tool with the watch link pin that is to be removed..

It's not called a smaller pin at 3:00, that is called a sleeve, the longer piece is the pin.
