Bought a 2000$ rx8 a few months back. Low compression and needs a rebuild. I hope you can do some more in depth rotary rebuilds In the future. Please cover proper ways to tolerance and gap all the seals!

Rob got a faster time because he actually shifted at the top of the range, and slipped the tires less. Isaiah did a mad burnout at the beginning, then shifted at like 7000 rpm. It only “felt faster” because it was so jerky! 🤪

Genuine question : what would happen if you "money shift" a rotary? I mean there's no pistons that can hit valves right? Would the engine only rev high and that's it? Or it can damage things?

Probably spun bearings and damaged seals. Either that or it would damage the gearbox/synchros.

Rear locks up, Gearbox handles it, the clutch assembly does not do so good

Well, a rotary still has rotating mass. And the most likely point of failure is the apex seals. The eccentric shaft could also bend or break under such extreme loads. An additional note: it’s pointless to rev it too high because eventually the engine will reach the speed of the flame front. At that point the power will drop off exponentially.

Keep doing these videos. I really am enjoying them... BTW My friend Steve said the cool(est) thing about your RX8 is not that it goes 0-60 in 5 seconds its that you burned rubber in 1st and 2nd gear. I said "Thats just because I'm not a great driver so I'm glad you did it too!!! ha ha." Love that Rob who is pushing the bleeding edge of technology is still having fun in a 2 rotor stock RX8 its still the best car I've ever driven. I don't know if the handling is "measurable" in an easy way but try taking that car around a cloverleaf that the speed limit is 25 mph at 55 and feel how glued to the road that car is. That must count for something?

I have just started watching some of your posts, and you talk about apex seals breaking, down under here in Australia, I have just watched a 1500hp Billet 20B 3 rotor build from ProMaz on FullBoost You tube channel and he talks about Apex seals that don't break, they'll bend but don't break. What I need to know, is can you drift with the stock diff unwelded. The Internet says it comes stock with an LSD, but struggled to get mine sliding the other week. Curious if it's inexperience, or I need to weld the diff.

shifting too soon, rev it up! Also, try undiluted full strength coolant (or Evans) at low/zero pressure to stop the boiling over; I just remove the pressure rubber seal from the cap leaving the other on.

Full strength glycol coolant has horrible thermal transfer ability. Water is required for proper cooling. One can go up or down a little bit like 60/40 water:glycol for hot climates or 40/60 for extremely cold ones. The water removes and transfers the heat, and the glycol raises the boiling point. The pressure cap raises the boiling point too. Their pressure cap looks like it failed.

+1 to what Manny said; to get more thermal capacity from your coolant you want to mix in *more* water, not less. The glycol is just there to make sure it doesn’t freeze. If your race car never sees subzero temps, there’s little need for any glycol at all!
