Nice video, very informative on how to aim a blowgun for long range and short range plus mixing snake venom for your darts. You know since your brother has a 3D printer, you can have 3D printed cones for your darts, they’ll make them fly slower but they can pack a punch.

Whatever else you do, keep your head still. Your eyes stay focused on the same spot when your head moves, but when your head moves the blowgun moves.

Osda sunali'i oginalii! Beautiful channel. Just finished my traditional build on an southeastern woodlands rivercane blowgun with thistle darts tied on with deer backstrap on bamboo darts. If i extract rattlesnake venom as you have illustrated in this video, and I use a venom tipped dart to hunt a larger mammel like a deer or turkey or even a squirrel or rabbit, is it considered "non-toxic" to human consumption? In other words can i eat what i would have theoretically shot with venom? Sgi for your awesome work and knowledge.🙏

Finally a poison dart, I make my own poison. Blow power training, blow up balloons, punching balloons, and hard to inflate balloons. I punctured both my lungs, now I'm recovered.

I don't use the ghost pipe method, I just focus on the main pipe and put it on the target - in other words I only see one pipe and not 2 - and it actually works very well

I did that back when I started... But how do you judge distance? Is it guesswork? Once it goes over the 7m mark the pipe will block out the target... Just try the ghost pipe method I think you will be surprised

@@huntingforhearts just with practice and muscle memory, i can very accurately guess how far above the target to hold in order to hit it at that specific distance, but i will definitely try the ghost pipe method. the pipe does block out the target however.

The ghost pipe method is great! It has worked for me many times and was also thinking about adding a small red dot on mine and zero it in as I am adjusting to sight it in. Do you think this will work?

Haha if you want to use something like that you need to use a Lazer.... However I am going to sound like a snob now... Why would you want to? Part of blowgun hunting is the challenge of having a bare pip and to test your skill surely? Otherwise use a pellet gun it'll be cheaper and less frustrating

I’ve heard of the visual double blowgun aiming technique before, but I have never seen 2 separate blowguns when I aim, I am right eye dominant and when I shoot I only see a single blowgun, I can still make accurate shots but it’s more of a instinctual shot like when one fires a bow without sights, do you know why I don’t see 2 blowguns?

So this is a typical case of focusing on the blowgun not the target. I believe what you are doing is getting the blowgun up to the target and focusing on the end of the pipe not the target... This is a affective way of shooting however when the target is further than 7 m you will run into the trouble of the blowgun "counseling" the target... If you have two working eyes you will see two pipes... Same as if you put your hand to your face and cover one eye but leave the eye open you will see a "ghost hand" that is all you do with the blowgun... Do not focus on the blowgun... Focus on the target

What I've heard about dart poison is to never put it on the tip of the dart. Put it a little ways down from the tip. This way you aren't poisoned in an accident.

That depends on the species you are hunting... For example I will put it on the tip for animals with tough skin. Where depth is a problem I would also only apply it in the field when needed and not have extras lying around any dart with deadly substances on is bad news all that needs to happen is for that chemical to get into you bloodstream which means even a small cut that the dart didn't make could be deadly

I was watching this solely to try and learn how to use a blown gun. Then, I saw the venom part. I find the whole poison dart “thing” odd….only because, if the venom is so toxic that even a drop of it in a cut can be fatal, then I’m assuming you’re not eating whatever animal you’re killing with “said’ poison dart. Obviously, I have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about….I confess, I don’t milk my pet venomous snakes for hunting with poison darts. I just can’t imagine eating something you just killed with a poison dart, that is so toxic that you can’t get so much as get a drop of it in a wound.

Good day Phil so there is a very big difference between poison and venom... Poison is usually a chemical that when broken down produces a chemical that can be fatal However venom is a protene that cases an allergic response... To do this however it needs to be injected into the blood stream so in other words if you consume venom it will not harm you at all (unless you have a damaged stomach... Then you're dead) I have proven a few times venom can be drunk, it is very bitter but it is the same as eating a raw egg.
