How to DIY a Blowgun Mouthpiece

Making a blowgun, blowpipe mouthpiece from six pieces of plywood glued together to create a block of wood ready to be turned using a wood lathe that I improvised using my small drill press machine.
After some time and lots of elbow grease the final result was a blowgun mouthpiece that looks amazing!
The contrast from all the different colors from the plywood layers makes this blowgun, blowpipe mouthpiece one of a kind.
I used a ½ inch copper pipe that was wrapped with a natural fiber twine to give it a primitive look and feel.

The main advantage of having a sight on the tip of the blow pipe is to insure the same side is always up!

Yeau agreed. It serves no function as an actuial soght but hacing the right side up every time is important.. But you coupd just make a oval moutheice larger at the bottom too

I´m not sure why, but turning wood it`s something that is very pleasant to do, maybe because of all the wood chips flying all over the place, the only bummer is the mess that it makes! Thanks for sharing. I think one could also cut each piece of plywood at different sizes, so that way even if they have no lathe they can still create a good mouth piece out of wood and then using sand paper smooth it all out.

When gluing up use a sprinkle of sawdust on the glue and it will keep the wood pieces from sliding when clamping them

I've been trying to make a lots of weapons recently (weapons that are easy to make) like bows, slingshots, crossbows and blowguns, and the hardest thing to make was off course the crossbow because I had to make a trigger mechanism and all that. I also made a bow from a stick that I found in the woods, I didn't have any bow string so I just used some random string I found, but when I pulled the string back the bow just split in the middle and I had to make a new one. And I couldn't make a slingshot because I didn't have any rubber for it. But I made the slingshot itself from some wood I found in the woods. I also tried to use a bicycle tube as rubber for it, but it didn't work :( The only weapon that I actually managed to make which worked, was a blowgun.

Hello uoqɐɹ uoslǝu ǝʌǝʇs yes, I aim with the two eyes open focusing on the target and that creates a doable vision on that dot up on the end of the blowgun, by placing the two dots in the middle of the target it`s possible to shoot very accurately, (without wind) Thanks for the comment and for watching.

Don't use copper, too expensive yet soft, will bend or get dented when it hits something hard. Either get 6061 T6 Aluminium or the Cheap Class7 / Sch40 1/2" PVC. 4feet length minimum.

+cere tomer Hello cere tome yes i do, and i´m glade that you asked, because now i can take this opportunity to explain how it works. To shoot a blowgun i hold it with bouth hands very close to the mouth piece and with my arms close to my chest for stability, then i look down the blowgun and focus my sight on the target and because of the position of our eyes i start to see two images of the blowgun pipe parallel to each other, if i´m shooting indoors or with no wind i just have to put the target in the middle of the two sights and adjust the height up or down according to the distance of the target. MrMyvids4you Of course I enjoyed your videos. I have two blow guns, a 3 ft and a 5 ft. I've just got wooden mouthpiece for each. I had them made from a wood shop, they have a latte machine. Shape is simple, it looks like two cylinders stacked together, one is just a little bigger than the pipe, other is a 1.5 in inner diameter. After watching this video, I decided to sand away a little portion of the part that will contact my mouth, just like what you did before varnishing. Now I'm varnishing it with polyurethane, waiting to dry and replace the medicine bottle. :-)

Step Uno -Find a piece of old carpet, the older the better, and cut a disc shaped piece that fits your exposed shiny spot! Step Dos - If you don´t have one, look aroud for a old dog with matching hair color and texture, and ask him for some he´ll be happy to give you as much as you need, they have so much, not like us! The best hair is from the A.. area! Step Tres- Using contact cement glue the A.. hair to the carpet, let it dry and cut to your prefered style, and you´re done! Final step - Go out and enjoy life like you never did before, no more ugly hats or funny looks, the only looks you´ll get will be from hot chicks pleading to go out with you!
