Great video!!! Very helpful. Thanks. By the way, I grew up in Rossville and now live in Cape Canaveral, FL. I'm adding a vent in a guest bedroom to a duct that feeds the living room on the other side of the wall. The bedroom vent doesn't provide enough air to adequately cool the room. Thanks again...Butch Bedwell

Very helpful The inside diameter of the round takeoff is the measurement in inches? Can you measure it with a tape? Thx

How did you start your Hole for cutting the diameter for your takeoff ?

We need a couple decent HVAC companies in Albuquerque, NM, where everyone freezes or cooks depending on the season. Dampers aren't in the dictionary here or the ductwork.

Have you found one yet? I live in ABQ too, and recently discovered the chase from my HVAC unit had NO ductwork and asbestos covering the 2x4s; had it professionally abated. I contacted a plumbing and heating company, who quoted me $4800 to install ductwork in an 8’x4’ area! I’m going to attempt a DYI.

In what applications would you use duct with insulation inside?

Hi Armando, I'm surprised you haven't recieved an answer in 3 years. Here's an answer from architect's perspective: Acoustical dampening is the reason for duct insulation. Without it, sound easily travels throughout the metal duct system and potentially disturb activity in various rooms in a building; on several floors as well. Without acoustical duct insulation, one can listen in to a conversation in two rooms connected to the same duct work and in an office environment, that's not a desireable situation; therefore, acoustical insulation is a must extra material and labour expense. I know you'll now see the value and reason for it.

His advice is outdated. Mastic is required by code, sometimes over the tape. JS
