Hi ma’am, I am an almost 30 year old Indian origin woman living in America for some time and I feel so conflicted by my family’s Indian culture of pushing women to marry and have a household life. I often get taunted for not knowing how to cook Indian food and especially chapati, and my family looks at me like she must be such a miserly person because she is not married. I am a working person and have always been so but I still am made to feel inadequate and I find Indian women express that they are dependent and we always feel inferior to men. Especially when it comes to education and money, we are always given less priority? And as you point out that is very much changing from my parents generation to mine. Even there are some housewives, now it is even more important than ever for women to work. When I lost my job, I was engaged to someone and they broke the engagement. There is no guarantee in life and it is best and a requirement to be self sufficient.

Why does a women have to do both? Most elderly women just tell me that's how it is women get things harder in life. In reality both men and women and children in a family balance out their abilities and do household chores accordingly.I've seen families in America do this very well. A child needs both their parents attention not just the mothers. Countries like Switzerland and some other European counties have managed this issue well by giving both parents maternal leaves and soo on. The main issue to resolve is people's mentality. Many people have deep rooted stereotyped definitions on what men and women's purpose and duties are.

Thank you for these insights. they are really helpful. I am suffering from auto immune rheumatoid arthritis. I am on medication but still get painful inflammation every now and then. I do regular yog practice too. Still suffering

Very well said maam...I took out 1hour for yoga from my hectic schedule...and it has changed me a lot...now I don't get irritated. I stay calm.. because yoga has removed body pain n pranayamas make me relaxed..and it reflects in my behavior....so plz follow maam's advice..... practice yoga regularly

As much as i take your advice... wonder why this is always focused on women... why should they be the only one to "balance"... just a simple search in KZbin for managing work life balance with job gives me results that speaks from a women pov does that mean men don't even have to think about this...
