Love the garden set up! It seems like you have a lot of space to enjoy the BBQ in the nature.

Terrific! I can smell the yakitori cooking from here. Now, add hard little wooden stools and speakers playing the sound of densha passing overhead!

I've romanticized about setting up a small shack with a shichirin, selection of sake, shochu as a retirement gig. I'm half way there.

I bought something like this at Odaiba once. More of a "hipster' styled one, that was almost 24 years ago, still gets used, of course the metal grill got replaced a few times over that period, used to use it on the balcony of my apartment in Tokyo LOL. Great video! Will subscribe.

24 years - impressive!! Moisture softens the clay walls, so keeping them dry is key. Thanks for subscribing!

Awesome video! i remember going through the BBQ section at the local shops in japan but i was a broke student back then and had other priorities haha Starting to get into cooking things i ate in Japan back when i lived there and i managed to find a clay grill that looks almost identical to yours. Definitely not as cheap as in Japan tho. almost 3X the price.

Oh, so that's what those grills are called for robatayaki. I'll see if I can find any at my local Japanese market 👍 Also, I would have used the flat kushi on the larger food items so they don't spin like that when you turn them. Makes it easier to obtain even browning on all the sides without having to fight with gravity.

I like these long rectangular ones - but the round ones might be easier to find - like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZeWZnWqn9mbg80si=JscBGXNtfL-0L8rx

You are a very excellent bicultural foreigner resident in Japan. Also your wife seems very helpful. Maybe you could subtitle her speech for the foreign audience.

Thank you for your comment and suggestion about subtitling. Maybe we can do that for our shorter videos? Meanwhile, I'll try to summarize what she says.

@@kyushulive That could be really interesting. Especially if you invited a few interesting guests and gave them some screen time as well. Like a chef or a micro brewer or a sake expert, people you can link closely to the content. I suppose now would not be the best time for that, however. :/
@kyushulive
@kyushulive 3 жыл бұрын
@@fukuoka-musician I totally agree - and want to have more guests - but you guessed right. With current restrictions so many of the things I really want to do are not possible or just won't be interesting. Tomorrow I do have a guest for a livestream in Kitakyushu - and since we will just be walking by buildings - it's practical to do. On this Saturday. Emiko and I will try a "yakitori live" and if it goes well - we might try to get a guest for a follow up one the next week

They'll cut pipes and stuff for you? Huh! It's like a deli for construction materials!
@kyushulive
@kyushulive 3 жыл бұрын
Ha! Never thought of that, but yes, it's like a deli - lots of section and customization. And as mentioned, the cutting fee was a reasonable ¥55.
