I'll add a few rules: 1. Use explosives and heavy hitting weapons carefully. Don't spam them if they are liable to hit teammates unless they are already likely to be downed 2. When you find compressed gold or a bittergem, allow everyone to bask in it's glory before you deposit it. Only leaf lovers deposit it immediately 3. If you see a mushroom. Point it out to your team

Seems more player need to watch this, I just started playing this and I've had fun so far but I hate going online, the worst part is when you get in do lots of work and then they kick you right after the drop pod lands. And ik I'm not a bad player I always ping minerals and bigger enemies and I make sure to conserve ammo. I even get all the nitra for multiple resupplies. Overall solo play is the best and my mining bot is better then the entire playerbase

@@deeginator1716 Reading this genuinely made me sad and I hope your absolutisms were just hyperbole. DRG is one of my favorite games, and that's because of the playerbase. Sure, I've run into my share of trolls and toxicity, and this game does have it's own versions of the serious honorbro and sweaty CODpieces, but in my overall experience the community is healthier and more wholesome than even the Warframe playerbase, and that's saying something. I remember a mission not too long ago in which a member of our team was downed at the bottom of the cave just after we called in the pod, and none of us noticed until we were already inside the drop pod. One of us (not me) just started running back with 3 minutes left to spare. Both the guy who went to rescue the downed dwarf, and the downed dwarf in question returned with just 30 seconds to spare, and we returned to the Rig with a full team. It just goes to show, another rule of DRG is to never leave a dwarf behind, no matter the cost. That is why they say "NO DWARF LEFT BEHIND!!"

Here's my advice: Always keep in mind it's supposed to be a casual experience. Don't be an asshole because a team member isn't playing their role at a high level. If a scout forgets to use their flares, or an engineer forgets to place a platform, don't worry about it, especially on lower hazard levels. If you miss out on a bit of gold, oh well you'll still make a lot of money

Even better: if a scout forgets to use their flares, say, "Scout, can we get some flares, please?" and "Thank you!" when they put them up. If your Scout ends up feeling good about doing his job, rather than bad for forgetting, he'll likely perform better in the rest of the mission, which benefits the entire team.

If I need a platform/flare/drill, I just mark it, then ask them for it and wait until they're unoccupied, and then shoot them as last ressort to grab their attention. Some don't read the chat, or watch the marker, and need a little reminder that you're not playing alone.
@Zapp__Brannigan

@@BlissBatch Yes, that's the right way to get a Scout to do his job. It is a little frustrating to people who have been playing this game since early access that hardly any Scout players seem to understand that their _primary job is to light up the cave,_ and not shoot bugs. The Scout is a support player, not a prima donna.

Haz 5 Egg Collection. I'm around rank 34, only promoted my Scout and Engie so far, the other three people on the team were all high levels. We got hit by a nasty swarm in a terrible position, everyone got completely knocked down. One by one everyone started using their Iron Wills to get up and continute fighting, but my teammates were swarmed and I was laying there dead in the distance, spectating their death, one by one. One time the Gunner managed to shield rez the Driller but a few pretorians and a bunch of glyphids surrounded by acid and web spitters destroyed their almost empty HP bars right after the shield stopped working. Everyone is down and the top rank player instantly left the match. Then I used my Iron Will, smacked a nearby Glyphid to get those 5 hp points, took out my nuke overclock granade launcher and fired two shells at the dense swarm. Taking out the remainings took us a bit but we finished the mission with a success.

Don't call in a drop pod just because YOU are low on ammo. Nitra is shared by everyone and selfish calls can leave the supply pod in remote areas rather than somewhere each class can reach easily. (Example being a twin machine pistol scout burns through it all, calls a drop pod somewhere they grappled to, now a traversal tool has to spend ammo to reach it rather than the scout grappling down then calling it in)

Another that kind of falls in the "Don't call the Drop Pod immediately" rule: *Don't immediately launch the rocket in Point Extraction missions* There's no MULE whenever you go on a mission like that so if you launch the rocket immediately as you already get all the Aquarqs, some dwarves might have not yet deposited the secondary objectives, minerals, or Nitra, and God forbid you don't have enough Nitra for a resupply at Hazard 3 or higher, right? Had a dwarf in my team do this twice in a row, first one was on Haz 4 and we couldn't extract and all died, then the host changed it to Haz 2 to be a bit easier, dude still did it, but we made it out this time and I left the team after that.

As a scout, my tip for other scouts is that when everyone is running for evac, it is not your job to get there as fast as possible, use your mobility and accurate weapons to keep the swarm off the less mobile classes in your squad, particularly if they have to build an evac path in vertical chambers. Oh and stay the hell away from the Drillers, a lot of them are rowdy.

@@TheGinrei Scouts and Engineers are natural allies. Prioritize your class function first where it makes sense. For example, in the liquid morkite mission if you're the driller the first thing you should do is dig tunnels directly to the morkite pumps. It's something only you can do and if you do other things first then your team might either be waiting on you to dig the tunnels, or they might take excruciatingly painful way around. Dig all three tunnels ASAP and then you can focus on things the rest of the team can do, like placing pipes, building pipes, or collecting minerals. Similar thing with the dozer mission. When the dozer stops for a refill, it's the driller and gunner who should be filling canisters with shale. The scout first and foremost needs to be exploring the area, collecting secondary objectives, and mining minerals. Until he finishes doing all that he should not be touching a canister. Likewise, the engi should set up his defenses, place platforms on minerals for the scout and place platforms to help driller and gunner navigate to oil shale. Only once that's all done should he think about touching the canisters, if the driller and the gunner haven't already grabbed them.

- If you call in a supply drop don't position it in front of a sentry gun, as you will possibly greatly narrow it's sight. - Don't rush ahead unless it's crucial to your survival. - GG and bye bye after a round and don't quit 30 seconds after as a host without announcing it. - If you notice you are ahead of an escape path make sure to mark the entrance for following dwarves so they will have it easier to escape. Same goes for pointing out useful ziplines that might be hard to see. - Check on your team's health now and then and point out read sugar. Don't take it from people who are critically low on health. There are some more, like not instantly killing a slasher who's approaching a dwarf who might want to convert them. When a mineral has been marked there is no need to immediately zip or drill to it. Possibly the engineer will put a platform there that might be rendered useless or even be destroyed that could've been better used by a scout. I also observe many engineers who don't put platforms over lava fields where it would be highly useful aswell as scouts who don't flare the ceiling (especially important with 2nd fossil objectives). I will probably come up with some more after longer playtime. Oh yeah. When there's beer and music you don't just drink it. To Karl! Rock and stone.

"Be mindful of explosives." This particular tip can go both ways of placer and victim depending on the situation. Satchel Charges: *Driller - Be mindful of the Blast Radius. Dealing a ton of damage to a Dreadnought or Swiping a Swarm from existence is tempting, but if you're gonna catch your teammates in the blast then you might as well be on the side of the Bugs. *Others - If in doubt, assume volatile. There's no denying the Volatile Compound will vastly increase the potency of each charge used but this commonly chosen upgrade leaves these explosives susceptible to premature detonation due to AOE damaging bugs or even Small Arms fire from fellow miners. Stay well clear from these charges and communicate with your driller to ensure a controlled detonation. Mines: *Engineer - Place Carefully. While the mines you place may not detonate under the presence of a Dwarf, if a Glyphid enters the triggering radius they will NOT hesitate to detonate. Consider escape lanes and high traffic areas where your team will frequent before you place half a dozen mines through the one tunnel left that you have to escape with. (Or god forbid, next to a Satchel Charge without telling the team. Believe me, that Engineer did NOT get a pint after.) *Others - Watch your step. As much as it is the Engineer's responsibility to watch where he places mines, it is just as much yours to avoid them. Staying mobile is critical at times, especially in High Hazard missions, so not running through an established minefield with a Glyphid hugging you is a good way to avoid being blasted. Fatboy Overclock: *Engineer - PEEK before you YEET. Pretty much the same advice given to the Driller with Satchel Charges. These Grenades have a far more punishing drop than standard 40mm rounds and fly far slower so careful aim is needed to ensure you don't miss or, worse yet, hit something far too close. In addition to the heavy damage and vast blast radius, the lingering radiation can be just as much a detriment as a savior. Be mindful where you and your team may need to go before potentially filling said route with more than 3.6 Roentgen of Radiation. *Others - Green doesn't mean go. There will be times where an Engineer may need to use these nukes and blast away entire hordes for the team, but keep in mind what state you are in before running through the Radiation field. Chances are there will be other routes available to you and the path leading through the damaging radius may only lead you into more danger. If you need to stay put, hold your ground and keep emergency exits in mind, just because a good portion of the swarm in front of you was nuked, doesn't mean it was all killed.

Honorary mention for some other grenades: The plasma burster, incendiary, and the cluster bomb. These grenades have some of the highest friendly fire potential out of all the options. Bursters and cluster bomblets can land unpredictably which, in addition to their high damage totals, can land unfavorably and take a chunk off of your teammates if you're not careful. While incendiaries aren't quite the same, the flames cover a wide radius and fire damage can be LETHAL under the right circumstances. So as a rule, keep the words "safe distance" in mind.

Important ettiquite: think of the needs of the team. Just because you dont have a blank core, or you've already gotten all the cosmetics from the terrain scanner, doesn't mean that you can automatically just ignore them or run on ahead. A member of your team may want to pursue these objectives, and it may be difficult or even impossible for them to complete it without you. Likewise, if there's a machine event (like an omen) that everybody doesn't want to engage in except for you, dont be a jerk by triggering it and either making them fight it against their will, or making them go back to get you when you down yourself.

Keep in mind that all beers can get you tipsy, and it carries over into miasions, so be safe and dont get too intoxicated before you start a mission. Though Blackout Stout is great for clearing any woozy side effects (kinda greenbeardy to say, but im not sure if passing out would clear any effects from the Daily Specials) Then the ones you have to buy the licenses, they provide a temporary, but fun effect that only lasts on the Space Rig. (You can combo them too. My fav: Blackreach Blonde + Wormhole) Then lastly theres the Daily Specials (not exactly daily. They seem to cycle pretty often each day), where they provide actual bonuses that lasts a mission. They range from increased pickaxe damage (try to aim for the weakspots for max damage), 100% more gold (only mined from you), or being able to carry heavy objects faster. They're all great for any mission (except for Dark Morkite), but you can get the full effect when playing certain missions (Pots 'O Gold + Gold Rush anomaly = meyga bucks). Its a lot, but the system is easy and fun to mess around with.

Play your TRAVERSAL role. Gunner is expected to lay zipline(s) in large caves with a lot of verticality or complexity to a) make traversal simpler for non-Scouts, b) mark entrance/exit locations for easy situational awareness, c) prevent fall damage. Driller is expected to create linking paths for beeline movement, especially in caves with high complexity. Dig out objective areas as needed. Create straight lines to drop pod at the end of missions and also make paths for Morkite pipelines. Keep your paths direct and easy to follow. Engineer is expected to platform for every single Scout in the party, so stick with your Scout(s). Keep an eye on every single ping that your team makes, and create a platform for every ore vein on every wall. Like the Gunner, platforms are also an easy way to mark exits and entrances. Create staircases for Gunners and Drillers on vertical wall and deep pits. Platforms can cushion medium falls for the whole team. If it’s been 60 seconds and you haven’t shot an enemy or shot a platform out, the rest of the team is probably not happy with you. Scouts are expected to LIGHT THE CAVES and zip ahead of the team. They are expected to ping ore veins and objectives to guide the team. Scouts are not supposed to call Molly away from the rest of the team for personal reasons -> zip back to Molly, then return to mining. Guide the team towards exits and entrances while lighting the way. Scouts scout the high ceilings and deep pits; pinging and mining away. And above all, Scouts keep themselves alive.

You can see, when joining lobbies, which classes have already been selected and whether the host has selected the option to enforce one player per class. If you join that lobby while they're still in the space rig, even during countdown, you will spawn as whichever class you pick despite the class limit. If you intend to join a class-restricted lobby, do not abuse this oversight, and swap class. The only time is okay to ask another player to switch is if you haven't gotten the missing class promoted on a deep dive (ex. if you only have Scout promoted and another player is already scout in the deep dive lobby, it is acceptable to politely ask the pre-existing Scout to swap). If you cannot come to an agreement with the other players or are unwilling to play another class, leave the lobby. When you play a class, you assume that class' roles and responsibilities. Engineers must place platforms below high-up minerals and Scouts must attempt to mine these minerals, as well as use the flaregun in large caves and around long objectives. Always listen and watch for pings and voicelines. Do your best to check text chat when it's active. Never neglect or ignore your fellow miners. Already mentioned in video: never unilaterally make gameplay decisions - especially if you're not host. Always see if other players are ready before commencing. Don't kill passive wildlife being pet by other dwarves. This is beyond rude. Always be considerate with weapons which do high friendly damage - especially Fat Boy grenades and satchel charges. Try not to detonate large explosions on defense objectives such as mineheads or Doretta.

I was pretty patient my first few games of Deep Rock. However my patience ran dry with this one dude. He downed an ally because he killed a Loot Bug. Then he (playing Miner) burying the downed ally in a deep hole. When I went to go and revive him, he downed me and buried me too. When I called him on it, he said he "carried" the team, even though half the team were in holes he put them in. I eventually got rezzed and so did the ally, however, the other players didn't take to kindly that I called him trash because he can only enjoy the game when he's ruining it for others. They all shot at me while I was making my way to the escape pod, downed me, and left me there.

You can use the large mineral chunks that you get from within the walls, as a light source and a marker on the scanning map… Call I typically like to drop them in a direction that I plan on coming back to see you later… However none might players often justInstantly feed it to the donkey

Regarding your last point: I am one of the players that leaves if they got downed in a place that's way too far from their team. I do that in games (barring deep dives) actually out of courtesy lol. Or so I think. If a map's just too much and I'm in over my head I feel compelled to not waste anyone's time constantly backtracking to pick me up. Also, mandatory FOR ROCK AND STONE!

Honestly I enjoy running back to help someone out, even if it's a greenbeard. It can make for some of the most exciting moments in the game! I regularly host difficulty 4-5 games and always try to help newer players out. But if someone quits mid match, it makes me feel like I've let them down or they weren't having fun. I'd rather go down trying to help them out! Never quit! No dwarf left behind! Rock and Stone!

I was in a game with the mutator where bugs drop gold, and when we were leaving i was getting some of the last gold outside the drop pod. Everyone was waiting for me, and the gunner was messing around with sticky grenades and downed me. (everyone was in the drop pod so it left immediately) The worst part is, in the lobby the driller called me out for messing up the survival bonus. Moral of the story: just cause you're leaving doesn't mean you get to kill your teammates.

From my own experience i have come to the following conclusion: This game benefits immensely from Discord or other voice chat applications. The completion/failure ratio of the group i play with would be way worse if we didn't use the Discord voice chat for quick and efficient communication.

Every class has their roles and tasks on a different order. If you're scout make sure your team can follow you and light the way for as many people to see For engi stick by the scout to see all the minerals he illuminates once in a new area, try to land as many platforms as possible (high ones) also try to allow other two classes to traverse the path you did. For gunner it's bodyguard duty and clutching downed teammates with sick shield drops For driller it's making way from low to high ground and crowd control If you friendly fire alot (especially as heavyboiz gunner, driller) you might wanna take the perk for it This game has a really nice community so even if you run into some bitchez don't lose your vibe, toxic ones are the minority among drg ranks Stick together and leave no dwarf behind ROCK&STONE

PLEASE make sure everyone is ready before proceeding with quest. My recent game was a good example: H4 escort mission. I got to the first stop as an engie and was completely out of ammo and had like 70 nitra, but I fueled the cells. Then I have 2 star+silver border driller drop on me and immediately start the dozer before I get nitra for resupply. Same happens with omoranth - before we check out both current and previous area he starts the drill. We barely lived through it. When he launched the droppod I told him the etiquette of waiting for everyone before proceeding with tasks that would be nice for next people he will replay this mission because I banned him right after that. Cool story, too bad that in reality he was running around and by the time we got to stage 4 I had swarms of bugs eating at the last layer and all of the beams were up and he wasn't dealing with either of those.

At some point we got a radioactive area drop with a mining objective and a very large pit. It was a fiasco of little to no nitra and us constantly reviving each other. Funny thing is; we made it out alive
