Can you give me pointers on maintaining an active social life which does not include eating out at restaurants? all my friends are not plant based eaters. When we do go out, I feel I must be selfish and choose the places we eat. I want to maintain strong social connections. I feel this is very important for my quality of life.
@jenniferabbott9765 жыл бұрын
My husband is not plant based and I am. We eat out at every type of restaurant, i.e. steakhouse, seafood, Italian, Mexican, Indian, Asian,... Every restaurant has something on the menu that I can eat. In a steakhouse, I order a plain baked potato, the mixed veggies (no butter), and a side salad no cheese. I bring in my purse my own salad dressing and salsa for my potato. At a Mexican restaurant I order several things...burritoes, fajitas, tacos...all Veggie, no sour cream, no cheese. I can list something for every restaurant. I never limit where my family and friends can eat...I adjust what I will eat at that restaurant. Recently I was meeting a few women for lunch and they wanted to go to a seafood restaurant. When the menu came I was surprised to see that they had several vegan/vegetarian options and I just talked to our sever to make adjusts for me. The food and company ended up being very enjoyable. I never dictate what others can or cannot eat...I dictate what I eat. That's all you can do. 😊 Hope that helps.

Distilled water has a ph of 4 or 5..not alkaline

@kathyshelley98175 жыл бұрын
I'm a little confused about drinking distilled and RO water if acidic water is not good for the body. The RO process ends up lowering the PH of water, and a similar effect is seen with distilled water which tends to be acidic. Removing the minerals in water makes water react with atmospheric co2, resulting in a drop in the pH. If a neutral to slightly alkaline water is preferred for fasting, wouldn't water with it's natural mineral conten,t such as spring water, be a better choice?

Kathy Shelley unfortunately he doesn’t respond to KZbin comments. If you take his class you can answer him questions weekly
@theartificialsociety33735 жыл бұрын
Kathy Shelley all water absorbs co2 from the atmosphere. Distilled pure water is effectively neutral. As far as minerals, whether not having the minerals is healthy depends on the person. If that person is suffering from excess, then not having the minerals is beneficial. Most people have problems with excess.

@@Larry30102 not sure what you mean. I work with aquariums and though I am by no means an expert on water chemistry, I have needed to research pH to sustain my biotopes. My tap water runs at a pH around 7.8, but I needed a pH of about 5.5-6.5 for my Amazonian tank, a pH of around 7 for my planted tank which I infuse with Co2 for plant growth, and a pH of around 8.8 for my Tanganyikan tank. Research showed me and experience confirmed that RO water worked best for the acidic water I needed and I can remineralize it for tanks that need a higher pH and hardness. Since I regularly fast, this issue interests me, as good water is paramount for me during those times.
@kathyshelley98175 жыл бұрын
I might add, so no one thinks I am trying to be critical here, this is the first I've heard of acidic water being a poor choice. Rather than drinking RO water, I could simply filter my tap water with a filter that leaves the minerals alone. Which is preferred? I thought RO water would be the best choice for me to drink while fasting, but with my experience in aquarium water parameters, the acidic vs alkaline issued caught my attention. And I do know that RO comes out of the filter at a perfect 7 0, and that Co2 reacts with all water. However my understanding is that the lack of minerals in RO water causes an acidic reactivity almost immediately upon exposure to air. (I believe this is due to lack of buffering capacity, but on that I'm not sure.) So by the time I am drinking my RO water it's quite acidic. I could also just purchase a good quality spring water, but that would be the most expensive option.
