Basima Abdulrahman’s talk on how she was able to win against the critical voices within her and how she could finally reach her goals. Basima called 2018 her year of success because of the amazing accomplishments she made. Basima has nine years of diverse civil engineering experience focused on sustainable development in Iraq. Her core expertise is in green building assessment tools and amplified strategies that lead to enhanced building performance. She is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the first local initiative established to introduce the concept of green design and construction to Iraq called KESK. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Duhok University, Iraq and a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering from Auburn University, USA This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
